Visited a number of times as I was trying to sort out the best place for my parents. Christine was super available, responsive, and accommodating. Most of all, she was compassionate and understanding of our family‘s needs and how difficult these decisions are. We appreciated her kindness so much!

From the first visit to Atria Woodlands, we knew that it would be a great place for my mom. Christine made us feel welcome when she met with us. She gave us a guided tour of the facility and took the time to answer all of our questions. The Atria is clean and it has many amenities to offer such as daily activities, movies, games, lectures, and an art room. We were invited to lunch there and my mom thought that the food was delicious! Christine, the dining staff, and the other staff members that we met were all friendly and helpful. It is a safe environment with comfortably sized apartments. We are thankful that we found such a wonderful place for my mom to call home.

I toured Atria Woodlands. The person who met me was very informative. The person in charge of this was Debbie. I watched the people, and I watched the interaction. Everything seemed to be very open. Nothing is hidden. I think the limitation for me was the fact that at some point and maybe sooner than I realized, my husband would have to move to a different facility. I would like a place where at least there's a possibility of him staying there longer. However, the rooms were the nicest ones. They're very spacious. They had windows. The accommodation was very nice. The furniture was nice. They had areas for arts and crafts. It was clean and there was no smell. You would not know that you're dealing with an incontinent population. The staff was friendly.

The actual physical facility of Atria Woodlands is beautiful. It's updated, clean, spacious, and well-laid out. The tour person was friendly and informative. They have a PT and OT room. They have a patio, a salon, and a beautiful lounge area in the front. One of the really interesting things there was there was a path directly from the facility to the mall next door, which is unusual but what makes it unique was that people can easily gather there. There is a very nice restaurant there that we went to and a bunch of little stores. It's just really nice to have that. The one thing that turned me off was when we were touring the memory care, the tone and the enthusiasm of the individual that was showing us the memory care diminished and that is concerning to me. It was different. The level of enthusiasm was not the same and I wouldn't want any staff person at a place that has memory care to feel that way about it. Could it have been something else? Maybe. I think we're getting over the amount of time that he was expecting to meet with us, but whatever it was, it doesn't matter. I still walked away feeling the same thing.

My dad had dementia and we were paying for the highest level of care with around the clock nurses. Every time we visited my Dad, he was in a soiled diaper. I asked to look at the call logs. He actually only called when wet or thirsty. The nurses are supposed to answer within five minutes, yet when they finally let me see the call log, there were times where it took over a half hour to get to him. I asked the nurses why it takes so long to help him, especially since we paid a lot extra for the highest level of care a month. One nurse cried to me that they don’t hire enough nurses to save money and they are always short staffed, that the company does that on purpose to save money and the amount of nurses you pay for are never there. One night we get a call that my dad slipped in the shower. They claim that he undressed and went into the shower himself! Complete lie as there was physically no way he could have. He was lying naked and alone in the shower with broken ribs. After rehab the Atria tells us he can’t come back because he requires too much care but they charge us for the rest of the month. He is dead and they are still coming after us with a debt collector.

Everything about Atria Woodlands was very nice. They have everything there from beauty salon to movie theater, and there is a dining room. All the amenities were great. I just thought it was too expensive, but the staff was very nice. They had arts and crafts, some kind of stretching or fitness, movie nights, special events, and lots of activities. I did not try the food, but the menu looked varied and very good.

Atria Woodlands was very nice, very clean, and it smelled very nice. The food looked fantastic. I saw the nurses and the doctors that were there onsite. They showed us where the people would be checked as far as their physical condition. I saw a physical therapy room. What I really liked, which the other ones did not even mention, is that they have fire drills, and I thought that was very, very good. I went downstairs to the dining room and looked around there. I was introduced to the dining staff, the cooks, and the chefs, and they were very helpful and very nice. They said anything that you want, you just have to tell them. I saw people walking around and doing things. I saw them in the beauty parlor and I saw them in the physical therapy. I saw people actually working with the people. Because they allow cats, and I have a cat, they're very pet friendly. They have the pictures of the animals where they're staying. Like they're saying, for example, "Mr. and Mrs. Swartz have a cat named Peppa," and they have a picture of Peppa outside on their door.

My mom is on the independent side & my aunt is on the assisted living side. I have been so happy with the care for my mom & aunt at the community! Both are doing well & my mom is thriving. Loves the community & all the activities. I was so impressed with the care during Covid. The staff had gone above & beyond anything I expected! It was a relief to know that they had everything handled and I didn’t have to worry!

My mom is living in Atria Woodlands. There are some things they said that they had but don't actually do, but overall, they're pretty good. My mother likes mahjong, and they said they had it, but they don't. Thy said they would try to develop a mahjong group, but they never did. They have some issues with food, like sometimes they run short of food. Everything is very clean and nice. The staff is very nice.

We spent a year looking at our Westchester Assisted Living options, visiting, analyzing, etc., My sister had the spreadsheet! Atria Woodlands won, its now 4 years later, mom is 94 and incredibly happy. The staff is smart, kind and caring. The residents have led interesting lives that they share. The food really is delicious, thank you Steve! As a daughter of a resident, thank you Atria, for making us feel so welcome! :)

Atria Woodlands was immaculate. The facilities were excellent. Everything looked very nice. The apartments were very nice. They had thre meals a day, but the kitchen and dining area in the apartments seemed to be small. Otherwise, it's very nice. They had a lot of extra activities, and everything was exceptionally clean and up-to-date and looked very nice. They had another building that had people who required a great deal of assistance. They did not offer a meal, but they gave us some sample pickles. We saw the menu, and it looked excellent.

Atria was on the other side of the county, and it would be difficult for my daughter to get there. The people were nice, they're very willing to show you around, and they're very willing to explain. The facilities were lovely, and anybody would be happy there.

The Atria was very good. My aunt stayed there for respite care. The rooms are very clean and very spacious, even the studios. We have eaten there; it’s excellent. The only drawback is that everything a la carte was expensive, like medication management is $500 for this level. They also don’t take people’s blood pressure which was a deal breaker for my aunt because she needed to have people that monitor her blood pressure. They keep an active community. It could be independent-living in one building and assisted living on the other; they excel at that.

I went to Atria Woodlands in Ardsley, and it's a very nice facility. It is very clean and very bright. The grounds are well kept. It also has lots of amenities. The rooms/units are very attractive. I saw people eating in their dining area, and it's very nice. I also saw people in their art class. I would say that I think I would like them to have more common areas for sitting, like a park atmosphere. Someplace that had a more outdoor type of setting.

I visited Atria Woodlands, and I think the community was fine, but I just felt they were very cramped and crowded. It has a hospital kind of feel. I wasn’t overly impressed with the rooms. I found them small and expensive. The facility is on a side of a hill, so there is no place to walk or sit outside.

My husband stayed at Atria for four years. They were understaffed and they didn't seemed to know what they were doing because they brought breakfast in at 10:00 o'clock in the morning or 9:30 in the morning, and that was too late. The food service was very poor, because that section of that big community and the memory impaired people was the last and their food had to be reheated in the microwave. There was scrambled egg and I wanted to taste it but it was cold. So, I asked the caregiver to put it in the microwave, which she did but she was not very happy because I reported it. I didn't want my husband to have cold food. They promised me that they would do things and they never did. Everything was turning too bad that's why I decided to take him out. One thing they had was good activities. However, they don't have enough physical activities. They do some exercise but it was not done at regular times and if the resident was sleeping, they won't bother to wake him up.
Provider Response

I was contacted very promptly by Atria Woodlands. When I went there for a visit once, I saw that the staff were very professional. The place itself was clean and well maintained. The grounds were very pleasant. I was pretty impressed with the memory care facility. They have activities and I found their activities to be adequate.

I visited Atria Woodlands for my sister-in-law. It was a great trip. Everyone treated me well. The whole place was pleasant, homey and cheerful. I have a positive impression on it. The staff was nice and pleasant. I just felt comfortable with this place for my sister-in-law seeing how the people there were treated. The residents seemed to be happy and calm. Their rooms were of comfortable sizes and they're all good.

My relationship with the Atria in Ardsley, NY is as a professional geriatric care manager. My client chose Atria as her new home in the summer of 2010, moving from her apartment in Manhattan, NYC. The facility was generous in their time and assistance prior to the move, arranging multiple visit to tour and review details with the client and her daughter. The actual move-in day was well coordinated with a staff member assigned specifically to the client for the entire day as a facilitator for the move as well as to provide a personal orientation to the facility throughout the day. Once moved in, the client received frequent visits from staff to assure her comfort and assist in any way. Recommendations for on-site medical support was provided when a new physician and other medical professionals were needed to provide care. Transportation needs are handled via the facility in a most satisfactory manner as are numerous group trips and leisure activities provided to meet a full compliment of interests. Meals have been well prepared with alternates available daily to meet specific requests. The physical plant is graciously decorated, designed in a comfortable and elegant style, providing a safe and lovely ambiance.
