I have been a resident here for almost 2 years and quite frankly have hated living here. These are just some of the reasons. In all fairness I will submit as well the decent/good things. 1. The staff is leaving in droves, low pay, not enough staff, a registered nurse having to disburse food and do clean up after dinner. 2. Some may say this place is clean, it is not. The residents rooms suffer the most and we are where their money comes from. The carpets are dirty, not only in our rooms but down the hallways etc. My window sills and windows have never been cleaned. The food here is actually something I would not feed a dog. No one really knows how to cook here, if you don't care for what is on the menu and lts often wrong let them know by a certain time (which is a reasonable request) you are destined to ALWAYS get P. B. and J. Honestly I have never in my life had so many. If they actually do serve something that should be good, like once Veal, I was excited! Being a tender cut of meat they cooked it until you honestly could not cut it. I was so angry I took mine straight into the kitchen and said "do you even know what veal is?? Baby beef, the most tender of meats and you cooked it until it resembled shoe leather. So, we will take a stroll to activities, if they actually have any you would think this was kindergarten, so many people do not attend. Their is never a movie night here, there is nothing to do here except go to dining room and eat really bad, cold meals. If you ask the so called manager here who agrees I would say with most of my comments but has absolutely no clout and Mark the owner literally sits in front of his computer all day. He does not know hardly any of the residents names nor cares to. I would certainly not send my loved one here. One more thing please. Outside on North of the nurses station at their round table you will see residents sou n d asleep from age and boredom hunched over the table with their neck and body in terrible positions. If they don't eat no one feeds them, so they fall back asleep in their awkward positions. This place needs to be cleaned up, manned effectively, a real chef or at least someone who can cook.a person to attend to the elderly effectively, the list goes on and on.

At first, Briarwood Manor seems like a great place but looks can be deceiving. I am a friend of a past resident. When my friend first became a resident, the nursing staff seemed very friendly but she quickly determined the nice staff from the nasty, disrespectful staff. While visiting my friend, I have witnessed some very nasty nursing staff and was quite shocked to know that Briarwood actually allowed people like that to work with the elderly. I've heard stories from my friend about bed bugs in the facility which I find incredibly disturbing because anyone who visits could get them and take them home. Plus the residents could have them in their bedrooms. My friend's bedroom was another concern. It seems as if housekeeping never got around to the dusting because her room was dusty most of the time. I have also heard about things disappearing from my friend's room. Her family noticed clothing and other items missing from her room which is extremely upsetting. The facility was also lacking entertainment for the residents. Whenever I would visit my friend, she said she was bored most of the time. Overall, the facility is absolutely beautiful but unfortunately it seems as if it is poorly managed. Please do your research before placing your loved one in this facility. Read the reviews before going in for a tour. Ask lots of questions and be extremely observant on the tour.

The place is full of bed bugs. Rooms are dirty and dusty chairs are stained and smelly employees are the worst.

My sister is at Briarwood. It is a very good facility. They take care of her medications, and any concerns that she has. The people are very caring. She is in a two-bedroom unit, which is more like a hospital type setting. She is in there in a single bed with somebody else. You can have your own TV and your own phone. If you're a husband and a wife, you can get in there together in a one-bedroom unit.

I placed my mother two weeks ago in Briarwood Manor. Most of the houses that were nursing homes recommended Briarwood for assisted living so I went there and everything worked out. My mother has dementia and you can notice remarkable changes in her memory and in her communication with people in her two weeks there. She’s busy now where she wasn’t before and this has been a big help. Everybody there is outgoing and friendly and they know my name. My mom has a two bedroom which she shares but there’s plenty of room for two people. It has chairs, cable TV, air conditioning, closets, and a big window; they don’t spend much time in the room except for sleeping, the rest of the time, they’re doing things. The staff has a definite concern for the individual patients as far as getting to know them and their needs. They have a complete program of evaluation. You can sense the personalization of care from the people from the nursing staff, the cleaning staff and the people in the dining area. For activities, the high school students come in and work with them on crafts, they have bingo, a mass and rosary, movies and they have a hairdresser. I am fairly happy with them.

The staff were friendly and professional, and the accommodations were adequate but not luxurious. My great-grandmother was not lucid for most of her duration there, so it was difficult to get feedback from her, but during out visits, the staff were always willing to take time to chat with us, to inform us about how she was doing and feeling.

Upon visiting Briarwood Manor in Lockport, New York this Christmas holiday to visit with grandparents I was surprised to find a large spacious environment completely tailored to the disabled and elderly residents. The staff were all professional and curtious. They had alot of activities in which people could participate from arts and crafts to viewing movies and playing games. Briarwood Manor also has a fine dining room and good healthy food for all to enjoy. The residents were treated to a wait style dining experience in which the staff would take their meal orders and even recommend substitutions when a food item was not cared for. Briarwood also had adequate laundry facilities for residential use. The building and grounds were absolutely beautiful and extremely well maintained. I would recommend to anyone who has a disabled or elderly loved one to consider Briarwood Manor for their assisted living needs.
