I had the opportunity to visit a friend in the Dementia unit. The work done by the Housekeeper assigned to that unit is incredible. You can feel it from the moment you open the door. I would like to congratulate her publicly. I looked her up. Her name is Betty. Thank you for doing your job like that. You are incredible.

Don't ever leave your loved one in the care of this negligent facility! My mother was a resident until I found her passed out and the staff waiting on a phlebotomist, asked me what I wanted to do! I immediately requested an ambulance, when we arrived at Glen Cove Hospital her glucose was over 800! She returned to the facility upon discharge a week later and the next day, again I returned to find my mother drooling by the nurses station with a glucose over 400! She has had controlled diabetes for the past 30 years, so the lack of care and supervision led to her physical deterioration. After the 2nd hospitalization I let the staff at hospital know, that I feared for my moms health at Glengariff and she is now at another facility where they have once again controlled her diabetes and take care of her.

My aunt died in their care after surgery. The rehab was inadequate and she was ignored. My father was seriously ill and they closed the door to his room. When I arrived he was crying in pain. He said he was moaning all night and the evening care told him to be quiet. I asked the doctor on staff why nothing had been done and she said that it wasn't serious. I asked if anyone examined him and she walked away. I had to request an ambulance. My father was taken to Glen Cove Hospital and required immediate gall bladder surgery. Don't bring your loved ones to Glengarriff.

They are understaffed and apparently have very very low expectations of their employees. They are rude, lazy and don’t care at all. Nobody takes responsibility for ANYTHING. I wish we could move my dad but it is not possible at the moment. The food is inedible- menus mean nothing. He never gets what he asks for and I would not give the food to a rat! Cold, stale and disgusting every single meal. The administration needs to STOP ACCEPTING NEW PATIENTS!! Stop being so greedy- you are 100% unable to take care of the patients that you have. It is getting worse by the day and the owners should be ashamed of themselves. Worst place I have ever seen . Shame on you. Wow! You don’t deserve any stars in your ratings

This place has the worst communication ever. I cannot ever reach my brother by phone, they leave me on and transfer me from place to place, leaving messages, with no responses. This should not be allowed, it is unfair to families. The administrator should resign.

HORRIBLE!!! Stay away! Staff is rude and don’t respond to patient requests. God forbid you need information on your loved one, they leave you on hold forever or just hang up on you. The management is even worse…they never get back to you. Constantly have to call and follow up. Never return your calls. If you love your family don’t put them here.

I have a relative presently in the nursing home and find the administration completely unresponsive. I have left numerous messages and not received one return call. No one answers a phone. You cannot reach an individual. My messages were left in a general mailbox, including the day supervisor, and you will not receive a return call. The house doctor is completely unresponsive. I’ve left numerous messages for him as well and even called his private office. Nurses aids are nice. Completely unprofessional. Look elsewhere for your loved ones.

Place disaster! I was visiting my mom for 5 hrs no lunch offered thank God I brought her something. Finally her pain med came asked why her heart med was not given said bp was too low, told her not ur call get her her meds. Lpn had bad attitude. Mom rang bell had to go to bathroom hadnt gone since there so I wheeled her in hopes someone would come, I got yellled at again by same lpn snd I told her lower her voice. Disgusting not enough help ppl yelling for help no one was helping. If you dont have enough staff dont accept new patients. If things dont improve within this week I am calling Jacho. No one every answers phone. No one in charge. If this is the best, God help the patients. I will be there everyday to make sure things going ok. My mom never complains and the staff can sense it but I am not letting this go.

Thoroughly disappointed with the lack of respect for the elderly patients. Fear was instilled in them by the staff that shouldn’t be working in this industry. You couldn’t get a straight and honest answer from the staff. The facility is a money grab not a rehab facility. They blame everything on the patient and accept no responsibility for the poor and uncaring actions. Don’t let a friend or family member go there

Completely disappointed with the staff, rude non caring, its a shame my father had to be afraid to complain for fear they wouldn't help him. A Complete lack of respect and dignity to elders, I seriously wonder if they would treat there own family that way. Seriously if you don't like your job don't work there. They should be ashamed of themselves Shameful

My father was a Glengariff several times after hospital stays over the last ten years of his life. He refused to go anywhere else. He liked the idea of having lunch and dinner served to him in the dining room rather than on a tray in his room. Physically he always came home in better shape than the before his hospital stay because the PT was the best anywhere. The nurses and aides were always accommodating and treated him like a rock star. Usually he had the same medical doctor assigned to him who called me after every visit to keep me informed (even if it was only to let me know he was doing fine). In fact, my father decided he wsnted to change to this doctor as his PCP even though his office was over 1/2 hour from our home. The last time he was there (he was almost 95) and he tried his best to do the PT and OT but it became clear that he was just not doing well. The staff was amazingly compassionate while the social worker was helping us to have him set up with home hospice. My father passed away three days before he was going to come home and the reaction of the staff was that of compassion and sadness for him and our family. There were many tears there that day and not all of them were mine.

DO NOT chose this place for your loved one. It is awful. The staff especially Sara is unmotivated and don't seem like they want to work there. My father got very depressed being there and when he said he wanted to die, I had to tell him to monitor him because that's how of a lack of care he was receiving there. They neglected him and definitely took advantage because of COVID-19 no family member is able to visit. Getting in touch with someone was nearly impossible. Some of the staff were difficult to understand because they lacked proficiency in speaking English. The only two people there that were on top of things were Edna in recreation and Mary who is a supervisor. The lack of communication and plan setting for my father was none. He was better off not going to this place. I DO NOT recommend Glen Gariff. They should actually have an inspector go there because I'm certain they are in violation of some codes. Time to make waves. Horrible, horrible, horrible place.

I am so unhappy with the staff here. They act like they really don't care. I know it's a poor paying job but then don't work there. It's unfortunate that this is only a job to them but they forget that our loved ones are only there because it is so difficult for people like me to take care of my parent while I have to work full time. I hate leaving my parent there. It breaks my heart. It breaks my heart more now than before because now that it changed hands, 2 years back I believe, my parent has been very unhappy and I see the difference. I don't like to write bad reviews but maybe if a supervisor reads this something will change. I don't want my parent to be pointed out but if you only knew the issues I have been through you would want to take them to court as I am following the proceedings to do so. I'm sorry it had to come to this but I have no choice. Someone has to be a voice for our elderly. They worked all their lives to end up at the end like this? I am brokenhearted.

The Pratt looks wonderful..go around to the other facility .....it is a slum...you walk into the entrance area and it is filth. My relative was there for a month. Clothes, eyeglasses, phone, crutches.. all stolen. Waited and hour with an appointment for them to be released . We watched the goings on. Fireworks being traded, smoking on premises , no facemasks ,weeds untended Was promised a briefing before release...Nothing. Just a box of drugs and not even a face mask Disgusting place. Awful staff. Place should be shut down. Take a look down the drive towards what is directed as the dialysis center that is where they take the ppl that are not just out of knee or hip surgery. The low payers . Disgraceful

This facility is not good. My friend was recently diagnosed with covid and wasn’t told . They told her family before telling her and she could very well understand it and didn’t give them permission to do that. She is also diabetic and is never being given a proper diabetic diet. Her food is full of rice and pasta and white bread. And the food is awful. The nurses can take up to an hour to answer the call bell totally unacceptable . Social Workers not working to help patient find suitable housing . All in all this place is not good for the patients. Especially if you are at an age to understand what’s going on there as my friend is. The overall care is not good I as an Rn do not recommend this facility to anyone. A Nd now that she has covid it’s become far worse for her the nurses has become more scarceThen before and this is causing her a lot of anxiety . The rooms are not very clean either .

I had a stroke and was brought here for rehab. I also have type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure. When I arrived in May, the rooms on the second level were extremely hot as the AC was not working yet. I needed help getting to the bathroom as I couldn't walk and one of the aids dropped me in the bathroom. If I needed assistance later at night with going to the bathroom it took them 15-20 minutes to get to me and they always came with an attitude. I had one one of them complain to me that I was going to the bathroom too much and she had better things to do. At that point I told myself somehow I will get myself to the bathroom ( which wasn't that private) and start dressing myself as I got fed up with some of the staff and I felt I had a better chance on my own. The food they would bring was awful. In the morning they would bring what they called eggs which looked like a ball of crap. I had to keep reminding them that I couldn't eat white bread or have any sugar and they kept bringing me sugary meals so when they would take my sugar level it was always around 200. There was even one morning when I had to plead with the nurse to give me my insulin shot as they forgot to give me the shot all the time insisting that my chart says I had the shot already, when I didn't. The doctors on staff I felt were unprofessional. Some of the nurses were better than others. However, I have high praise for my PT, Jimmy and my OT Lisa. They did try hard for me. I also, enjoyed the entertainment on Fridays on the patio. I was still confined to a wheelchair, but I figured out a way to get to the patio taking the elevator by myself as well as to therapy. After my 3 month stay, they eventually wanted to put me into the nursing home there, but I refused and had a friend pick me up upon my release. This is only the tip of the iceberg, but everyone gets the general idea. A word for the staff there, one day you all may have to be there as a patient where I hope you all leave your attitudes elsewhere as you see what's it like to be a patient. Remember, no one in their right mind asks to be there. Perhaps some of the staff will realize that most of the patients just want to get better and leave. Meanwhile, while use of arm never fully came back at least I have been able to be on my own again and the therapists did help somewhat. As far as this facility is concerned it looks nice and is nestled in the woods with a large fish tank in the loppy, but don't let looks deceive you. If you get out of there in somewhat alright shape, perhaps a medal should be given. If I suffer another problem, I don't want to have to go to GLEN GARRIFF.

I am very happy with Glengariff Health Care Center. It's a distance from my home; however, the level of care and the place are superb. The building, the location, and the grounds are incredible. The staff members are very conscientious about the place. Everyone, from the cleaning staff, to the aides, to the nurses, to the therapists, go the extra mile. I would recommend Glengariff. They treat you like you're a celebrity. The activities are nice. Every day at 3, they have a café service where they have fresh brewed coffee and home-baked cookies. At 4, they have live music on Monday and Friday. They have choices of two different hot meals and are similar to being at a hotel. In the afternoon for lunch, they have a buffet where you could choose what you want. They have fresh fruit and fresh salad every day.

Well maintained former Pratt Mansion. I spent two weeks in December here after a total knee replacement. This place keeps you busy all day long. I attended rehab Monday thru Saturday 9-12 and then 1-2:30. Lunch is served at 12-1 and we were given a choice of having lunch in our rooms or in a group setting in the main dining hall. The afternoons are plugged with live entertainment, board game events, manicures, beauty parlor, karaoke, arts and crafts, pet therapy day,and hot fresh made cookies and coffee/tea to name a few.... or you can go rest in your room and watch television after rehab. The staff are pleasant, helpful and well informed... I have only high accolades for my P.T. John P., O.T. Sue S., and transporter Ceasar. Margaret runs everything smoothly and is always seen and available. The rooms are cleaned each and every morning right after breakfast. In being honest, I have to say the food is okay.... but I wasn't there for the food... I was there for the rehab! I can't say enough about my stay here and I am so glad that I made the right choice in choosing this facility. I went home with confidence in knowing I was well prepared to heal on my own and I continue to do so. Thank you Glengariff....

Part of the staff is good. The ones that real care do just that really care. But you have more there that dont give a dam about the patients and have no respect for the clients. They may be old and sickly but they should still have respect. It takes forever to get someone to help. When they do come .... "Oh I will be right back"" and they never do. If they take them to the bathroom the door to bathroom is wide open and the room door. Everyone can see them going to the bathroom. Its not right. They leave them on the toilet and walk away. Not good Not good... They can fall off and were is the respect. My Aunt is a Dailysis patient. My cousin told me she is having a real hard time getting Glengariff Healthcare Center to give my aunt a simply thing as a sandwich. The sandwich needs to go with my aunt to dailysis. My cousin have spoke to several people and yet no sandwich. The one time they did it was a egg salad sandwich that had been left out all night. When it was give to her at dailysis my aunt became very very sick. What kind of place is this. I wish my cousion would more my aunt to another nursing home.

Glengariff Healthcare is wonderful. The physical therapists are thorough to the patients. The rooms are clean, neat and well taken care of. The floors are cleaned every day, and the beds are changed every day. My mom had a private room, and it’s well-maintained. The grounds were beautiful; it’s right next to the Russian Embassy. It’s not easy to get to the place, but it’s well worth the trip. The price is very reasonable, but you have to have insurance. They distribute the medications, the food is excellent, the place is spotless, the administration was very attentive, and the staff is very supportive. I can’t say enough good things.

I WAS VERY IMPRESSED WITH THE LEVEL OF CARE I RECEIVED AT GLEN GARIFF. THE ENTIRE STAFF WERE WONDERFUL, NURSING, PHYSICAL THERAPY AND FOOD SERVICE ARE ALL EXCELLENT. AS WERE THE MEDICAL TEAM. THE EXPERIENCE REALLY GOT ME STARTED ON THE ROAD TO RECOVERY AND I CAN'T THANK THEM ENOUGH.

Glengariff Healthcare Center is just a basic nursing home, not an assisted living home. They have hospital rooms, nothing fancy. The staff is fine and seem to like my mom actually. The dining room is cafeteria-style, and I guess the food is OK, since she's not complaining about it. They have activities. It just looks too much like a regular hospital.

My mother came in needing swallowing rehab and died. This place should be put out of business. The whole experience was a nightmare. There was no doctor for 2 days -- nobody came in when she was dying. They mistreated her and then did nothing when she took a turn for the worst because of it. They have no medical expertise at all; the director is all attitude and did nothing to help us. I will never live this down. DON'T LET ANYONE CONVINCE you to go here!!!!! Anyone who thinks it is a good place doesn't know what they are talking about.

It is a beautiful place. It is clean, and that's the good part. The bad part is that if you need ANY help from the staff the will tell you that they will be back and then they NEVER CONE BACK. I have seen this multiple times in 4 weeks. You basically are on your own, and if you can't move, well then your stuck. I wouldn't send en enemy there. BTW after your rehab, they will do nothing for you the rest of the day. The weekends are the worst though, it's when they ignore you exist altogether..don't go to this place!!

My dad was at Glengariff Healthcare Center for rehab. We were very happy with them. The place was beautiful and clean, and everybody was very helpful and caring. They had entertainment going on, too. It was very good. The rooms were clean, neat, and very nice. The whole facility was very nice, including the dining area.

Disappointing! There nurses do not show care for the patients needs. They do not look at your medical chart and listen to concerns. Upon our first day arrival they did nothing to help us settle in and when I started asking questions and requesting our needs to be filled they came back with resentment. the room wasn't cleaned from the patient's belonging previously and no toilet facilities were organized just as a start. In speaking to the a few of the floors patients I have realized that we are not the only one with complaints. They they all agreed saying how difficult it has been for them. They also said that its best not to speak up because the nurse will take out there anger on the patient. Scary isn't it. People who need genuine help get treated like this. I am disappointed and horrified that this is the experience from a nursing home who's only task is to take care of there patients. I am mostly disappointed in myself i didn't take time to read all the reviews. Please do not make the mistake that I have made. There is nothing worse then watching disabled loved ones treated with disrespect and lack of concern. Best.

We took a tour of Glengariff Healthcare Center. The staff was helpful although I did not see a lot of them around. I did not see a lot of activities. They did have a calendar or activities posted. It was a secure place because they had valet parking. It was very clean.

This place was so dirty, my mother sheets where never changed, they actually had the same hole in them 3 days in a row, until I said something. And there was the same straw under the bed the entire time she was there. The patients would beg to be helped, and nobody helped them. I actually had to help a few of them. Way understaffed. It was actually when they were going through a state inspection. God only knows how bad they are normally.

When my mom was in the hospital we heard through others that Glengariff was a good place to go, but I didn’t really find it great. Though the place was clean, there were one or two nurses that were really friendly that my mother liked. The other ones were very difficult to get answers from. When I first brought her there they didn’t even look at us, and we felt like we were bothering them almost.

One of the worst. Workers that are on alzemiers and dementia floor don't speak English nor do they care what happens to the patients. Believe me one of the worst long term nursing homes
