I do not recommend this place. We experienced inattentive and rude staff, unsanitary practices, disorganization, just too many issues to list. Lessons learned - my advice: Do your research and check out a facility's citation history with the department of health. And when touring a facility, keep in mind representatives will chat you up and show you the areas they want you to see. Facilities need clients to make profit - remember that. If you receive a thorough tour and are satisfied, please be sure to discuss expectations regarding your loved one's care - ask for details/literature on what the care entails and frequency of that care, do not accept vague or unintelligent responses. Certainly do not 'take their word' for it. And finally, consider how a facility operates when no one is looking!

My loved one is in this facility and if I had any means possible I would not continue to have them here. The staff is uncaring. Many patients are in the hallway pleading to please take them to the bathroom. This falls on deaf ears. The facility is short staffed to say the least. There are two nurses whom are caring. NIGHTMARE!!!!

My husband had a cerebral hemorrhage; he’s been at Atrium Post Acute Care about a month, and I am not happy. Yesterday, I got a call that he had fallen out of his wheelchair. They had him sitting up, even though he can’t even open his eyes, and he was always leaning forward. They would put a pillow in front of him to try to keep him from falling out, and he fell out of bed once. It wasn’t until he did fall, and they finally said that hospice was going to put him in a chair that tilts back so that he can’t fall. Everything is very old. The place could be a little cleaner. You walk in, and there’s a smell that hits you right away. The hallways throughout the place are carpeted, and they’re full of lint. A few times I must have been in there when they had just vacuumed, but most of the time, they’re old and worn, and they look like they could use a cleaning.

The character and service match the care my mom is getting as eyewitness the sensitive, caring, care and concern your nurses and especially the aids assistance demonstrate with handling and providing care for my mom. Thank you so much for making our stay here warm and comfortable.

Do not send your loved one here, not the greatest place to be. Do your research and check it out and find other places.

The facility provides competent care through the physical and occupational rehabilitation staff. The nursing staff is very limited and the Registered Nurses are over worked. The nursing assistants, some certified, some not, run a gamut from kind and attentive to unpleasant and careless. The facility waited until my mother was there for six days before they held a meeting to determine a plan of care. Prior to the meeting my mother received sporadic therapy, never more than one therapy session per day. When she was not in therapy the nursing assistants tethered my mother to a wheel chair with an alarm device. She was not permitted to walk around. She was forced to sit in a room with a television set tuned to soap operas or cartoons in the company of several other women who were obviously in final stage dementia. My mother was not incontinent but was forced to wear a diaper because it was not always convenient for the nursing assistants to help her to the toilet when she needed to use the facilities. The doctor decided to double her hypothyroid medication because her thyroid tests indicated that her original dose was too high. Clearly this was an error and fortunately we happened to be there when the doctor made the error so that it was corrected before any harm was done. My mother was walking and relatively coherent when she entered the nursing home. By the end of the first week she could no longer walk and was rarely lucid. We made arrangements for 24 hour home care and removed her from the nursing home. Within 24 hours of returning home my mother was walking and climbing stairs without assistance, and she was again relatively lucid.

The Lawrenceville Nursing & Rehabilitation Center is an adequate assisted living provider. One aspect of the center that I admired was that it seemed fairly organized. All the workers had a set tasks and everyone was always available for any need. The workers were firm but gentle when dealing with defiant or upset patients. There is something always sad about these types of homes but I admired their attempts to raise the spirits of the elderly with visiting artists, holiday activities, and movies. However, I was surprised that they showed a modern horror movie to the elderly inhabitants which did not seem appropriate. The facilities (such as housing)also seemed a little out of date. The furniture was old and appeared a bit worn. The food was not the best quality or taste but there was a definite variety on a day to day basis. The medical assistance was quite efficient, an aspect that is much more important than food quality. I frequently saw a doctor making rounds around the center which reassured me.
