The Avalon was by far the most preferable out of the local assisted living facilities in our area. They have an excellent staff including reception, housekeepers, aides, nursing, and dietary. The common areas have all been updated and modernized and are comfortable and welcoming for all, including residents. There is outdated information about memory care, which they absolutely provide within their secured area. I am to understand that they are expanding their memory care unit also. My mother-in-law has been a resident for the past 3 years and we have not had not one issue with her care and their vigilance over her. See it for yourselves. I do have to admit that it is expensive but fortunately she has the resources to enjoy her stay. There is also the transition to Medicaid, for which there will be an adjustment in accommodations but that was expected and the level of her care will remain the same.

When I had to move my parents from Philadelphia 5 years ago to the Hillsborough area, my wife and I spoke with friends and toured several of the assisted living facilities in the area. They ended up at the Avalon and it was the best decision we could have made. A couple of years ago my Dad had severe health challenges and had to move next door to the Bridgeway. My Mom was able to visit him daily before he passed. Recently my Mom had a sudden illness and also passed away. The sincere reaction by the staff showed how close the residents and staff become. Mom always signed up for every trip and played bridge and bingo. I highly recommend the Avalon.

I had one woman whom I talked with at The Avalon at Hillsborough who was very informative. She sat down with me and talked over finances. I think it all went pretty smoothly. The place was laid out pretty nicely with a dining room set up like a nice restaurant. They seemed to have a lot of activities, a theater room, a pool table outside, and a little stand for popcorn or candies.

My visit at Avalon at Hillsborough went well. The apartments were very small. It was more expensive than the other facility I have visited which has bigger, and nicer rooms. I did not see too many residents. My impression is that this facility is pricey. The bathroom is very small with a sink attached to the wall, and the pipings are exposed. You could only fit a couch, a chair, and maybe a table in the small room.

My mom was at Bridgeway. It was a nice-looking facility. It was understaffed, though. My mom was on a shared room. The room was unhealthy to be shared; it was uncomfortable because of the sharing. The food was OK. The dining area was OK too. However, it didn’t work out. We had to leave. There were too many patients and not enough doctors.
