My mother went to Brookestone Village when she was injured, and they're wonderful. If we have to send our mother elsewhere for more care, it would be at Brookestone and we're comfortable with that. It's very clean, the staff is wonderful and just very hospitable. It was a very nice place. They had activities and they were very well publicized. The food seems fine, I didn't eat it but she didn't have any complaints. It's very well kept up and very good. She had physical therapy there, she seemed to be doing well there.

We toured Brookestone Village. The location was more convenient for us. It was a nice place. They also had a nice little courtyard area where residents could go for a little walk and stuff like that. They have good security for people who have memory issues so they don't get out and wander. The staff was friendly and kind. The rooms were small. It was a little dated, but it was clean and well taken care of. I saw the exercise-type room where they were assisting people doing some exercises, getting mobile, and doing stuff like that. The people were very helpful to the residents in that regard. It was nice.

My sister stayed at Brookestone Village. Overall, it was good. They have responsive staff, and a very helpful social worker, and that was good. I think they have good therapy there. The room she got was more institutional because it was just a room with a bed, and she shared bathroom facilities. They called it a toe-to-toe room, or something like that. They had activities, but it just wasn't something that Lisa was doing at the time. They have a dining room and a salon, that's all that I noticed. The meals didn't seem to be quite as good. It was a fairly large facility. It was covered by insurance.

My husband was here for 2 weeks. There are not enough words to explain the outstanding care he received. This is unlike any skilled nursing facility I have ever been in. The cleanliness and comfort were way beyond my expectations. The compassion and understand from cleaning staff to the highest supervisor was as if they were treating one of their own family. This extended beyond the to family as well. There are food choices and it was of high quality. If you need to place someone in rehab or skilled nursing, I encourage you to consider Brookestone Village Rehab and Skilled Nursing

My mom went into Brookestone Village. It's good, very nice, and very clean. The staff is very good. They have bingo, arts class, and therapy. The food was normal food, like what you would eat at home. They take very good care of her, and my mom said it's homey.

The only reason they get a star is because the form requires something in order to be able to write a review. After a minor stroke, we put my mom here after a short hospital stay. Her time there was supposed to be spent working on getting her strength back in her legs - she had been in a hospital bed for a few days and was pretty weak. We were lucky that she suffered no other complications from her stroke. We moved her in for what was supposed to be a few weeks. She also suffered from migraines so we were hoping to prevent one of those while she was there. During the meal service, they were unorganized and we had to ask more than once for someone to bring her a plate in the diningroom. While not pleasant, that was understandable as she had just checked in. For over a decade, she had taken heart medication and many other meds, and had always taken them with her meals. The staff was not concerned that she had her meds with dinner and when we got her into bed for the night, she said she felt a headache coming on. She hadn't taken her evening meds. We asked the nurses aid to please get her some ibuprofin, and we'd wait until they could give her her evening meds so she could go to sleep. Since one of the meds they recently prescribed while in the hospital was a sleeping pill, we asked that the prescription be continued until she could be released from the temporary facility as well. Not only did they tell us they were going to give her medications on their own schedule, they weren't going to give her ibuprofin for her headache so she could sleep. We pitched a fit and they relented but then 'conveniently' could not find the person with the key to the medicine cart. All we wanted for her was to let her have her meds and something to stop her headache so she could go to sleep. About an hour later, they finally found the person with the key and gave her her meds and an ibuprofin - yes it was on her chart as an optional medication. Once she finally was tired enough to start dozing off - that is when we left. Another family member went early the next morning to spend the day with her and help her get acclimated to her temporary home. When they showed up, they found her sitting in the diningroom, slumped over in a wheel chair drooling. My mom had problems walking but did just fine with a walker and even after her stroke, could not walk very far with her walker, but she was coherent and active. When the family member brought it to their attention that something was definitely wrong and we needed to call the ambulance, she was told that my mom 'would be just fine once they gave her her medications'. By that time, I got there and she was still slumped over and drooling. It didn't take a rocket scientist to know that she was incapable of actually swallowing medication. The same person we introduced her to the night before was the one arguing with us the next day, when she had actual conversations with our mother the previous day. Given our lack of medical training, even we knew she needed to get back to a hospital to be treated for this new stroke. I could not understand why they kept arguing with us, not wanting to call an ambulance. After nearly screaming that we were going to call one ourselves, they relented and called an ambulance. To this day, we have no idea how long she sat there unattended before someone arrived.. She never recovered from that stroke. There is absolutely no way to know what would have happened if she was actually able to receive the proper medical care she so urgently needed. However at the very least, she deserved to not have to suffer with a headache the last day of her life. Do not ever take anyone to this facility.

Brookestone Village is close enough where my mother can visit my father. It is adequately staffed, and it looked like you would get the assistance you needed.

We found Brookestone Village for my mother. They had different levels, and she is in the nursing care. My impression is that the staff is very caring, and they take their time with my mother. The staff is extremely friendly and very helpful. They listen to her, and sometimes that's a little difficult because she will repeat and repeat and repeat, and she has some problems, but they're very kind. They're very thoughtful, responsive, and I think the nursing care is really quite excellent. I feel like it's a very good place for her. What I observed is that they're very careful, and things are clean, and they have cleaning staff that comes through there regularly. I've seen that they have a cart, and they come into the rooms and the bathrooms. Her bathroom always was clean, and they vacuumed regularly and picked up the trash. I think it's kept very clean. It's not decorated in the style I would prefer. It's sort of a dated décor on the inside, but it's very homey. I've been there in and out quite a little bit, and I've never experienced any negative problems.
