I have visited a long time co-worker who is a resident of Oak Park. I found the facility to be dirty. residents unkept in wheelchairs along the walls leading to the rooms. Nursing staff gathering outside the break room just having a good ole time laughing. joking call lights going off. Nobody moved to answer the call. in order to visit you need to call for a appointment, I called one Friday to make a appointment the person I needed to speak with was Monique. I attempted to leave a voicemail but. it was full. on another occasion I tried to make a appointment I never received a call back after leaving my name and number with receptionist. My friend told me he had not had a shower in a month, I asked for a towel to clean his face a least, I was given rude stares. I'm not sure who this can and should be reported to but, I truly don't believe this is because of shortness of nursing staff because the four I saw outside the break room were not at all busy

Oak Park Care Center is a nursing home that has its ups and downs. For the ups, the nursing home has staff that seem to really care about the people who live at the home. Most of the staff are kind and always attentive to the needs of the residnets. On the other hand, the faciltity often has an odor in sections of the halls; this is pretty typical for a home of this kind, but often Oak Park is a bit worse than many facilities that I have been to. As far as cleanliness, the home is on the lower spectrum of homes that I've been to. Other than just the odors, the dining room often has messes on the floor and the tables are not usually wiped off as they should be. The staff seems to do a good job taking care of the people, but could do a better job taking care of the cleanliness of the facility. For this reason, I've given the facility a 2 star, but if they improve the cleaning techniques it could easily move up to a 3 star.
