My dad was a resident of Bethesda Southgate. They helped him with showering. He had physical therapy and occupational therapy. Everybody was very nice, pleasant, and concerned. The cleanliness and upkeep were good. It wasn't excellent. We had a problem with mold in the toilet, which meant it hadn't been cleaned, but as soon as I brought it to their attention, they sent someone to clean it. Other than that, it was fine. I did not try the food myself. I watched him eat, and it looked good. He didn't complain.

Mom is at Bethesda Southgate for rehab. She has a private room with her own private bath. They bring in the meals to them because apparently since COVID, they no longer have a shared dining room, which used to be nice to get you out of the room and socialize. On a normal day, the staff comes in and gets them one time of day for PT and one time of day for OT. They stop in and ask them if they want snacks. They also have their own TV. Most of them are in wheelchairs or on walkers because they're rehabbing from some type of injury, so there is a common area they can walk out to where years before they would do a lot more activities. Now it seems they only do one activity a day, but one is better than none. The other day they had bingo. Some days they watch a movie.

In general, this facility is one of the best ones I, have visited and many times better than the facilities my own departed parents and sister were living in before their relocations. The place is very clean. My only complaint is the Place reeks of employees who smell like marijuana. I find it ridiculous and that is why we decided not to have my wife live here. I know this may seem a minor issue, but such unprofessional behaviors may be a sign of underlying issues especially if such behavior and odors are permitted.

My wife has been a resident at Bethesda Southgate in the memory care area for a little over 2 years. I chose southgate after visiting many different locations. I have had some experience in the past with elder family members at other facilities and I had a good idea of what to look for and what to avoid. The first thing that was apparent to me was the cleanliness of the facility. It was and remains odor free. The staff was and remains very personable and interested in not only my wife but our family. Because my wife, who has aphasia, tends to wander security had to be high on my list of needs and southgate has always provided for that level of care. During the pandemic we continue to have to deal with, I have been very pleased with the way Administration at the facility has gone above and beyond to continue to provide a safe and secure living environment. We have all had to make sacrifices and southgate has made those as painless as possible. I am very glad I chose southgate and have to emphasize the friendly and caring atmosphere, the extremely competent management and the cleanliness of the facility. I have to also offer that the meals are well above what one might expect.

I have been living in Charles Village for six months now. The staff is excellent. Their attitude is good. My apartment is good. It is average. They serve our food in the dining room. The food is average. The community is very clean.

Over a month ago, mom moved to Bethesda Square, and the place is very good. The way the staff takes care of the residents is very good. The residents seem to be content, and the food is good. They eat well.

Most of the people at Bethesda were in wheelchairs and a lot worse off than my mother. They have a daycare place, which is one thing we were considering. They were doing a lot of construction, but it was clean.

I already have my husband placed at Bethesda Southgate. I chose it mostly for the location. I'm very satisfied with it. The food is good. They have assisted living and memory care. Also, a doctor is on staff there.

My mother spent 18 months in the assisted living facility at Bethesda Southgate, Telegraph Road, St Louis, Missouri. My biggest concern was how my mom's care would be managed. I live in Miami, Florida and have 3 brothers in St Louis, but it was always a concern for me being so far away. I found out I could call anytime, day or night and one of the staff members could give me an update. Once the minor issues of her needs and medications were worked out, everyone settled in. Bethesda Southgate is a beautiful, new facility with caring employees. They always made my mom feel comfortable and made sure she had what she needed. She had her independence, but was checked on six or seven times a day. They managed her medications, provided activities and the meals were delicious. I had lunch and dinner there several times. Even though it was one of the hardest decisions for us to make as a family, we feel we made the right choice. She had a fall in October of 2012 and ended up in long term care, still at Bethesda. There has been continuity of care and the staff continues to keep us up to date with all of her current issues. I feel very comfortable with the facility and staff at Bethesda.

The staff are friendly and caring. It is more like a hospital than apartments. She has a roomate in a coma. A lot of the residents are vegetables and can be scary.

When I arrived at this nursing home, the appearance was very welcoming and inviting. Upon arrival inside, there was a slight smell of urine and just older residents smell. The place was very clean and it appeared to be very organized/structured within. The staff was very courteous and respectful to the residents. They had a rehabilitation room where the residents would/could get physical therapy to help with their joints. They had a lunch room which seemed like the residents really liked since it had a piano in there where they could listen to someone playing while they were eating their lunch/dinner. I would rate this visit as a 4 out of 5 stars.

My Mother was a resident at Bethesda, located on Telegraph Rd in St. Louis and the nursing staff and the social director always worked very hard to make sure that Mom was treated with great respect and dignity. Very caring people.
