I toured Twin Oaks Estate. I had a very good experience visiting this facility. We met with the administrator, and she was very helpful. She's the one that helped us understand what's required of the residents to be able to stay in assisted living versus nursing homes. She was helpful in that regard. The rooms were nice. The living atmosphere was very nice, too. They had a large dining area that was also used for social events, parties, and celebrations. When we were there, they had a large group playing bingo. They had a beauty salon. They wash and cut the resident's hair, and it's included in their base price. It's a very nice facility, and it's also cost-effective.

Twin Oaks Estate had very caring staff and the price point was perfect, but the rooms were small and outdated. You could tell that they've added on to the building multiple times, which meant a lot of long corridors where the floors would shift and you have ramps. My grandmother's room would be so far away from the cafeteria, and the building itself would be hard for her to navigate. They did not have availability for a room that she felt was big enough. She was not interested in the small studio without a kitchenette. They had bigger rooms, but they didn't have any open. They had amenities with no charge. You didn't have to buy haircuts ala carte, your pedicure and manicure were done free, and they had an in-house banking system. The people there were amazing. It felt less hotel like and more like home.

Nursing staff seemed exceptionally knowledgeable and helpful—seemed very courteous, patient and respectful of the elderly. Building toured seemed well maintained and clean. Aroma from the kitchen was very enticing and inviting! Staff seemed genuinely happy to be working there. I would definitely recommend Twin Oaks to family and friends.

We’ve selected the Twin Oaks for Mother, and we’re very happy with them. It’s very homey and clean. The people care. The food and care are good. I can’t say anything bad about it. They need to work on the variety of the food they serve for breakfast, but that’s about it. Maintenance is kept up-to-date.

My parent is at Twin Oaks Estate. They bend over backwards to help their residents. It is a very nice pleasant place to be. Their rooms/apartments are nice and comfortable. Some are bigger than others of course. My parent has been there for 14 months now. They have always got something going on. They have the standard bingo, they music come in, and they have a barbecue on the 4th of July. They do a lot of stuff.

We chose Twin Oaks because one; that’s where he wanted to go, reasonably priced and offered the best service. The dining room is great; he likes it. The food is good and clean. It is family owned, and it is very well-kept up and clean; that is what I like the most and it met all our needs quite well.

I was surprised at how clean it was and how pleasant it smelled. I have worked in nursing homes and hated going to work because of the smell. They had someone at the front door to help guide you if you didn't know the building, which was great because I hate walking around trying to find one room in a big building like that. The staff members were very helpful when needed and they were pleasant as well. They were also very organized and knowledgeable. I do however feel that the particular patient I was taking care of in this facility should not have been in an assisted living facility. The patient had a severe case of dementia and her room had an outside access door, which in my opinion was careless. Overall, I think it is an excellent facility, well staffed, and if I were still doing that kind of work, I would definitely want to work there.
