First week and they say they can't take patients to and from their appointments so they say we have to hire an outside source paying $100 each way. Mom has 3 appointments this week. That would add up to $600 for one week on top of the nearly $5000 a month. They use temporary agency for their nursing aides. One RN for the whole (2 facilities) place. Mom has missed receiving her meds, noone passes information to incoming shifts, etc. The part about having a professional chef on hand is Bullshit. The food is prepared by whoever gets stuck doing it and you DO NOT get to pick whatever you want whenever you want. Except for dietary needs, everyone eats the same thing at the same time. We will be moving my family member to another assisted living facility where they actually answer call lights, aren't rude to patients and guests and isn't totally ALL ABOUT THE MONEY. If you love the family member who you're looking for a place to feel safe, secure, well taken care of DO NOT GO TO NORTERRE. It's all about the money. The whole place looks very nice but pull back the curtains. It's a shit show.

We toured The Laurel at Norterre yesterday; it was very clean. It's a little bit confusing to me because there's a lot of halls and doors that you had to go through. I think my husband will have a hard time with that one. It's a little bit more expensive than the other places we toured. The staff who gave the tour knew what she was talking about, and she was very kind. She helped me to make sure that I didn't fall or anything. I dind't see a lot of amenities there, but it was clean and had no odor. In terms of location, I probably don't live more than about seven miles from there, and they have a lot of places to go. Their outdoor space wasn't as good, and it was pretty limited. They had a balcony that you could sit on; but he's afraid of heights, so it wouldn't be good for him.

We toured The Laurel at Norterre. They only had a two-bedroom available, but I went in to see the facility. It was very nice, it was laid out and set up a little bit different than the other places. They are putting small numbers of people on each floor or each level, and then they have kind of dedicated cooks or nurses or aides that can float from floor to floor, but they're pretty much, you know, on one floor. The residents don't eat like in a dining hall, they literally eat at one big, large table. So it was kind of more like a family of people that got to all live together on one floor. The staff member was very helpful, extremely helpful. She knew that at the moment she didn't have space for what I wanted, but she was willing to give me advice on how to lock and shop for other places, and questions to ask. So she was very good. I would give her a five for her tour of the place, and then also just greatly appreciated her help in the whole process. The residents really seemed to like the food, and if they didn't like it, they clearly had methods to have the menu changed.

The Laurel at Norterre was very beautiful and very nice. I only visited the assisted living side, and the rooms were beautiful and very inviting. We probably should have chosen that place, and not the other one that my mom ended up in, because the staff there were just very engaging to the residents. We saw what they were eating, and it looked very appetizing. We were there at lunch time, so we didn't see a lot of the facilities, but they just showed us a paper of everything the people were doing.
