I really liked Garden View Care Center of Chesterfield. I would've chosen them if they had been more cooperative. I wanted all their amenities, and the layout of the place was great. They had a weird Covid rule that they had to lock my brother up, and we pay somebody $22 an hour to make him stay in his room. That is crazy. He's got dementia and that's very cruel to do that to somebody. I liked the layout. You walk down a huge hallway. It has all the amenities, a little room like a sports room, and a little conference room for you to be with your family. It has a dining area for you to have a private meal with your family, which I thought was great. They had a huge room, fireplace, baby grand piano, and a place where they had birds that's called an aviary. I really, really wanted that place, but it's a little far for me and they wanted to lock him in his room; you can't do that to a dementia patient. That would have been a great place for him to be. I did taste their ice cream, and it was delicious. They get a five on their food. Their staff was OK, so it must be the owners. That policy of locking this man in his room and pay somebody $22 an hour was a dealbreaker. It's not a convenient location for us, but I would have done it because I liked the facility. Their policies just absolutely stink. You must make a secure unit, but you don't lock them in their room. They don't get a good rating for policy at all.

My wife was in two other facilities, one month at one, and two months at the other, and we moved her because of the poor care at the other facilities. This place was recommended by a friend and we found it to be very good. She had a nice room and the staff was caring and friendly. For a year and 10 months I got to see this place on a daily basis and was very pleased overall with the facility and the staff. They have a better staff to resident ratio than at the other facilities we were in. I did her laundry because I thought the laundry fee was excessive, but this is my only complaint. We spent a lot of time together out on their courtyard. Lots of activities and most importantly good care.

Garden View Care Center of Chesterfield had a nursing home feel. The rooms looked more like a nursing room because they had a bed that raised up and down and you can't bring your own furniture. They had a dining room, therapy room, and inner courtyard. The people were nursing home patients, not assisted living patients.

My mother was a resident for 12 days before she passed. I was incorrectly billed for 5 days of her time there, and the facility agrees with me. I expected a refund of nearly $1,400 within 15 days, but over 2 months later they are refusing to issue a refund they agree Im due. The source seems to be a mystery corporate office.

My mother started out in skilled nursing. She ended up in hospice for five days. The nursing staff including Steve and Lacy were fantastic. I have never seen more caring individuals. Cathy, The Admissions Director, was also awesome. If you need a place for your loved one, do not hesitate to use this facility.

I cannot say enough about the care & love shown to my husband and our family. My husband started out in the adult day program & then into skilled nursing. The care & compassion that both he & my family received was wonderful. It was a wonderful experience in a very difficult time.
