No person dead or alive should be put in this place. The staff is incompetent and could not care less about the patients. My sister was dying of cancer and my sister frequebtly went without her pain meds. At one point they wetr out of one of her pain meds anddid not get it in for 4 days, thanks to me as I kept on their backs. One of the staff even put the call button away from myvsister so she could not reach it! Close this place asap.

I live at west county care center and their facility is trash their head administrator Sherry is doesn't take any responsibility for the way the place is ran. they don't give residents showers. Their facility has roaches and ants. The place stinks all the time I don't understand why you can't care for two floors of people. I hate living in this place it's not meant for any living person old or young.

Facility clean, Food Better Than Average, Individual Care is extremely poor, 80% of Nursing Staff/Aides very rude, lazy and careless, Many errors occurring with medication, Zero communication skills among administration, Many residents treated unfairly, Many untruths given to residents and family members. Find a different facility.

My father was in this facility for many years. I live out of state and could not visit very often but I was always disgusted and depressed being in this place. It usually had a bad odor. I did not think he got good care at all. I would not recommend this facility to anyone. There were numerous issues over the years, including a foot sore that got so bad his foot and leg had to be amputated. They do not have hospice rooms so he had to share a room while he was dying. He passed away this fall. Besides the poor care, the building facility itself needed a lot of work. It has not been maintained.

My Dad walked into this facility a physically healthy man with dementia. He died after being here for 3 weeks. To say this facility is terrible is an understatement. Because of his dementia he wandered. Even though he was in a locked unit they medically restrained him which led to his death. The administration here is as horrible or worse than the care. They were rude to my Mother who visited my Dad every day to ensure that he got even basic care, which he did not get unless my mother asked for it. The people that work here could not care less about your loved one. Avoid it at all costs.

I would not send my worst enemy here. My grandfather's wedding ring amongst other valuables were stolen. The facility is dirty and smells bad and the patients are ignored and treated poorly.

My sister-in-law was at West County Care Center for probably almost 6 weeks. It was terrible, very depressing, and not good care. The help was not nice, and the food was not good. She still talks about how bad it was. The staff was not good; they were not friendly. She said that they were very rough in helping her get in and out of bed. The place was not nice at all. It just did not seem really clean, and this was not a nice, uplifting place at all. If you were going to be depressed, it was going to make you a little worse.

My mother is slightly diabetic. She ordered coffee with dinner, they gave her Kool-Aid and I DON'T mean sugar free! You cannot get anyone to answer the phones there after hours, evenings or weekends--not even a recorder. It just rings and rings! The noise level is incredible and they are extremely short handed. Needless to say, I am exploring other options for my mother.

We chose West County Care for my friend because her needs were 24-hour care and the cost was comparable. The staff is very helpful. It seems that each staffer has taken the time to get to know her. The rooms are a little bit small. We would have preferred them to be bigger. We have seen some of the food and it looks pretty good. The building is older but the care staff is much better, more hands-on. The nursing staff is much more involved and proactive in my friend's care. Activities include bingo, cooking class and music to name a few. It is different every week. If you go into nursing homes, they tend to crowd their residents into a certain area and they all sit around; however, in this environment, they let the residents choose where they want to be -- whether it is in their room or out in the open. They kind of give them more freedom to be where they want to be, which I like. It is more patient-centered as far as the environment goes. My friend's care has enabled her to be in a more stable environment, so her behavioral issues have been drawn down to the very minimum. In other words, she is getting her medications on time and she is eating properly. These things have all helped her definitely, so her condition has probably improved. I would recommend this facility to others.

We had to find a place for my aunt who was getting dementia. Visited a lot of high end places, settled on this facility located in a small neighborhood. BEST choice ever. Great Caring staff and wonderful activities. Very pleased all around. Best of all it was not the most expensive but was much nicer.

The location and grounds of the facility were nice, residential area and well maintained. The staff are nice, kind and well trained, althogh they can be slow to respond after 'bed time' and for many English is not a first language. It can be hard to be understood or relate needs when they do not understand or speak with a heavy accent.Daily activities are well planned and heavily attended and we loved the selection on the Jukebox in the main dining room. The noon meal was served quickly but it seemed like there was a rush from the staff to get it over with quickly. Over all its a nice facility that seems to try hard to over come most cliche's that besot a mojority of care centers, I'm glad my friend lives here.

I found the staff to be excellent. They cared for my aunt until she could go home. GREAT therapy dept. I just think you need to visit many places. We are glad we didn't pay attention to all the commercials some places run. This place proved to be first class.
