Everything about Lighthouse was good. The place was very nice and very well decorated. It was always clean. The staff was very nice and very caring. They were great about keeping us informed if anything was going on with Mom. The food was good. They had family style dining. They have one big dining table where all the residents eat together in each cottage (there's only ten residents per cottage). Everything is open to where if staff is in the kitchen, they can see anybody sitting in the living area watching TV, or anybody that may be at the dining room table. I felt like the services Mom received were good up until the end. What happened was there was a nurse that had been out on medical leave for seven months, and Mom had definitely taken a downturn while he was out. She had had several falls and had started walking with a walker. After the last fall, they basically had her in a wheelchair. Her back was hurting so bad and we were in the process of trying to get that fixed. He came back after seven months and they told me they sent out emails, so he should have been able to update every day on all the patients that he cares for. He should have had all of her notes and all about how many times she had fallen and the back pain and all, but when he was in the room with her he let her get up and walk without a walker or a wheelchair when they were both sitting there in her room. So, he should have known that she's had a lot of falls and probably needs to be using one of the two. That was the only complaint I had about any of the staff. It was just that one incident. I hate to punish them all for one person. It's a nice facility and they have transportation. They also have a beauty salon in the facility.

My husband was at Lighthouse. Everything was scheduled like medications and food. There was a schedule, but they didn't follow through on anything else. They had laundry service. They took my husband's laundry, but he didn't have sheets on his bed for four days. They didn't clean the room every week. Just the bathroom, they did daily. On the third shift, it seemed like there was never a nurse there. There wasn't a nurse there 24/7, they always had to call somebody. And the third shift one was always running around in all the other buildings. They were short-staffed. My husband didn't get into the unit that was scheduled for him. He was going to be put in an all-men unit, but he ended up in a unit that was 80% women, and they were all catatonic. He had nobody to talk to or do anything with. They had orders for physical therapy, and they never started any of that. They never did any bus tours like taking them out for activities. I have nothing good to say about the place, especially for the money they were charging. It was in good shape. But the floors were always dirty. There was always something lying on the floor in his room. There were supposed to be activities, but they never did. Everybody there was wheelchair- or walker-bound and couldn't talk, and so they never did anything with them. The best my husband got out of this place was if they were walking over to the other building or something, they would take him along with them so he could walk and get out of the facility. Also, food was good.

My husband is in Lighthouse Assisted Living & Memory Care for about two months now. I like that the place is clean, new, and just very accommodating. The staff is very compassionate and welcoming. The food is awesome, he does not complain at all. I've seen and I've tasted it, and I've seen what they make for them. if you need something different or an alternative, like he loves salad, so they started making a salad. So it's really good. They've just built memory cottages and they're beautiful, nicer than my house. They have activities like arts and crafts, they take them on walks, they take them on rides in the bus to the beach. They're kind of working on that because they're hiring a lot more staff. They're trying hard and anything I've asked them to obtain, they're like, "Yes, we'll order it." They're all expensive, so I think the value for money is pretty reasonable. You get everything, there's no add ons. When you pay the money, it includes everything like laundry, food, cable, electricity, they give medicine, they do everything. So it's very good. They have several patios, they have one between every two cottages. There's a courtyard where they can be outside and they're adding on some games and stuff like cornhole, things at that level. And then you can walk around the perimeter of the entire building, there's a sidewalk. Of course, most of us come and pick them up and go do things anyway.

My father would be moving into Lighthouse Assisted Living & Memory Care. It's pretty much a brand new facility, but they have their patients in cottages. There are like six people to a cottage with a common room and a kitchen and stuff. They have their own room with a living room and a small kitchen if they want to choose to cook something or do something. And then they have a bedroom and a huge bathroom with a walk-in shower. They have means whereby they have to check on them and put eyes on them every two hours. They administer their medicines, which is pretty much common, I'm sure. They provide the laundry service, washing their laundry, folding it, and bringing it back to them. They prepare their food. They have a dietitian and a nurse practitioner on staff. They have an activity director and an event planner. Just really anything he possibly could need or want. They seem to be very attentive to the people living there. One of the big things was that it didn't have the feel of a hospital-type facility. It's just a wonderful facility and it's got excellent reviews. There's a cook in every cottage so they can better fix their special food if need be. They have a van that takes them to the theater. Sometimes they take them to other places, and they take them to the doctor. It's just all-around an awesome place. The staff who gave me the tour was just amazing with putting our concerns to rest about having to relocate him because one day, he's okay with it, and the next day, he's not. She is helping us deal with how to handle that with them.

Lighthouse is very nice. In fact, it was my second choice. It was very pretty. All of the community places were very nice. I spoke to a resident there and she had the same situation as where my husband needs the care, and I could live independently. This couple was the same way that the wife could live independently and the husband needed the care, and she was very happy with the care that was provided. The staff was excellent. I got to talk with the nurse there who was over a lot of the attendants and she seemed very much in charge and had the right attitude. She makes sure that her staff has the same attitude towards the care of the residents. The dining area was very nice. The residents were socially distanced from each other and everybody wore masks. The facility was very nice.
