My mother is at The Homestead at Rochester. It's been pretty good. The food was alright, nothing great, nothing terrible. She started in independent living, then she went to memory care. They have all sorts of stuff, but she doesn't use them. They have everything you'd expect. There are meals, exercise, clubs, bingo, and all the normal stuff. Their rooms have multiple sizes. My mom is in a room that fits her needs. I suggest better communication between the nurses and the actual attendants.

I toured The Homestead at Rochester. It was very nice. The person who gave the tour was very knowledgeable and very caring. The apartments were nice and roomy. They were a little dated. They really should have had some upgrades. I would have been happier with a nicer sink and updated cupboards, and the carpet needed to be replaced. They had a lot of activities, both social and physical to keep yourself physically in shape like exercise classes and things that would help you stay healthy.

The Homestead at Rochester has everything that my sister needs. The price is reasonable. It's not as expensive as some of the other ones. I think it's very nice. Everybody seems nice, too. There are a lot of activities, so my sister won't be bored. The staff was very nice and courteous. There's a garden, so the residents can plant vegetables. It's kind of on the edge of town, but there's a shuttle service. My sister will have a one-bedroom apartment. The bedroom was larger than the other ones that we had looked at, so she has some nice bedroom furniture. The size of the bedroom was adequate.

The nurse manager is very degrading and belittling to staff; the good ones don't stay long. Mom had been there for a little over a year and frequently was not given her pain medication. When brought to nurse manager's attention, she was very dismissive and insisted Mom was receiving all her medications. Yet Mom was regularly in intolerable pain. Medications ordered for Mom seemed to "disappear" So happy to have moved Mom to a new caring, qualified facility.

We looked at The Homestead at Rochester. It would meet our needs; we just aren't quite there yet. I think the thing that we like the least is it's really big almost intimidating for my aunt. But because it's so big, there were lots of different activities. We like the private grounds and the walking trails and things around it and the ability to be outside in the summertime. They have gardens and things that the residents can participate in. The staff was very nice and very helpful. They had a long list of activities, programs, and excursions outside the facility that they go to. There was just a lot of activity there. The upkeep and cleanliness were excellent. We liked that there were lots of options for sizes, styles, and layouts of apartments. We saw multiple different units and we liked that.

We have chosen The Homestead at Rochester. We thought it was a very nice community. We were very pleased with the responsiveness of the people there. The marketing director was very, very accommodating to us as far as making appointments. She also took a second tour with our children, and we appreciated that. It seems to be a very busy community. There are lots of activities there, and there are lots of public spaces where you can sit or you can use the room if you want to. We thought that was very nice. As far as the meals, they have a continental breakfast every day. That's complimentary. The units themselves are very nice and clean. They're all very well kept up. The whole place is very well kept, and the units are very clean. They're as spacious as you can get in a place like that. They seem to be adequate as far as the space that you need to live in. There are many, many places around the community where you can go and sit and socialize or you can go and sit and read or whatever you want to do. I compared it to being on a cruise ship. Your cabin on a cruise ship is not very big, but there are lots of places you can go and things you can do, so I thought, this is about the same way. There are different several units to choose from. They have one-bedroom and two-bedroom, so it is very nice. We have an option there as far as what unit we wanted to be in.

The staff that we have met at The Homestead at Rochester were really pleasant, accommodating, informative, and easy to work with. We saw the menu and they have a little cafe type thing as well that we toured. We saw what food they had in the cases, and their pricing. We were looking at the independent living, they offer a continental breakfast with a few hot food, so it seemed pretty inclusive. We have other friends who live there and they think it's very good. The facility was in very good condition. We didn't see anything that looks worn, it was very clean. The layout is a large unit with several buildings, but it was very easy to navigate. There was signage and everything. There are several main reasons why we're choosing this place, like the price that they charge. The pricing was in line or less with other places that didn't offer as much, and it's close to our house.

My friends are in the independent part of The Homestead at Rochester and they love it there. It has everything. I visited a couple and they told me all about it. It was just really expensive, otherwise, I would've gone there. They pretty much have everything you might want. They have activities going on all the time and they have trips for them to go different places. They have really good food if you want to eat there. It's a mixture of all different things for them to do and there are a lot of social activities for them. I didn't taste the food, but they said it was really good. The rooms were very nice. From what I saw, it was beautiful, very clean, and everything was very organized. They're really happy there.

We're staying at The Homestead in Rochester. They are way understaffed. The food is not good; I do not like it. The facilities are nice and in good shape. The rooms are nice, it's just that they are short-staffed, and we do not like the food. I'm giving them a low rating for the lack of staff, lack of service, and poor food. For activities, there is not much we can do, but we have exercise classes, games two or three times a week, and church services every other Friday. They claim that when they move us into memory care (they're moving us to that floor next month), there will be more activities there for my wife because she's terribly bored here.

The food service is in desperate need of improvement. My father complains of cold food, incomplete meals, and undercooked food. He tries to call a person in charge and the phones are never answered, and there are no ways to leave messages. He is supposed to get his sheets changed and washed once a week, and he has to call the front desk to remind them. Sometimes they don't return the sheets after they wash them. This facility appears to be understaffed, unorganized and no one is accountable. Very disappointed.

My parents stay at The Homestead of Rochester was very disturbing for both of them. It is a nice facility but they had problems finding and retaining staff. Often understaffed. Mistake after mistake ordering and administering medication. There are a variety of activities offered. My story from Homestead is very long and detailed. I would never recommend it to anyone.

My mother is very happy at The Homestead. The meals are great, and I think they are doing a good job. She is a diabetic and taking a few pills, so I am providing the medicine part of it while they provide the labor part, which is on a scale with categories. Everything is pretty good. The place is nine months old and beautiful. Everything in there is gorgeous. They have a big lobby. They provide lots of activities and entertainment. Today there is an ice cream social at 1:30 and two days ago they had some speaker from a local newspaper come in and give a little speech; they do all kinds of stuff.

Homestead provides assisted living, independent living, and rehab, plus a nursing home unit under construction. I like the diversity of care that is available there. I like the list of services that they provide and how they calculate the need for services and cost factor. They have a very nice facility. The food is good, too.

The Homestead at Rochester is a lovely assisted living facility which offers the convenience of having access to some of the best medical facilities in the nation, while providing a small town atmosphere. We thought it would be an idea place to check out for our uncle, who has developed extensive health issues over the years, such that he needs full time care. The Homestead community includes the kind of tranquil rural environment that our uncle really likes- but has all of the modern trappings that he needs. The rooms all feature many book cases and country-like furnishings amid a colonial building structure. The safety of the residents was kept in mind when the buildings were designed. There are lovely shrubs that are obviously well-kept at the entrance. From the Queen Anne chairs in the receiving room, to the magazine racks in the sitting rooms, every detail looks as if it had the residents in mind. The dining areas include long family style tables, casual tables with both very comfortable large stuffed and smaller chairs, a large meeting room with convention room type seating, an exercise facility, beverage and snack centers, a formal dining room with fresh linens, and private dining areas reserved for friends and family. The snacks are displayed so that residents may enjoy them at any time. There is a full service salon, large library, pool table, smaller more intimate TV settings with comfortable couches and chairs, laundry facilities and french doors adorn many of the communal rooms. Every unit has its own easy to manage temperature control and many have private decks and patios. There is a Zen garden, multiple ponds, and walking paths to enjoy. We could tell that the residents are well taken care of with kind, friendly and caring staff who attend to their needs with grace. It was clear to see that our uncle would really enjoy living in this community.
