We like Cascade Creek. They have informal dining where people can come and eat. It's like they were meeting in a restaurant or something. It's nice and sunny. We like it quite a bit. The staff was very good. The director was very helpful and went out of her way to make sure we had all our questions answered. The impression we had was that my mom was more advanced than many of the people there so that maybe was a negative. We don't want to put her in an environment where most of the people are very cognitively degraded. Nevertheless, there was a group of residents sitting around in a common area. I think they were throwing a large ball around. Some of them were sitting unaware of what was going on, but many of them were active and conversing with the staff.

I toured Cascade Creek. They were the ones who kind of said they thought we'd be better off bringing my mom home, and I thought that was kind of a strange recommendation. The lady that I toured with was more concerned about my mom's mobility being an issue and that she had a strong grip and had put bruises on one of the patients in the facility she was at. They toured very well, but the main reason I didn't go with them was the comments that were made by whoever I was touring with. She was a very nice person and to some extent, I appreciated her giving me her honest opinion. But I thought, if we're already walking into that type of mentality, then it's just not going to work out. The room that she showed me was clean. It was kind of the typical thing - a room for a bedroom, a closet, and a bathroom.

I was very impressed with Cascade Creek. It was going to be the one that we were going to move Dad to before finding another facility for him. They were below average price. The rooms and everything were very nice. It had multiple floors with multiple balconies. The food was good. The staff seemed wonderful. There were a few more people there which I think would have been nice overall. In terms of Rochester City as a whole, it's the best bang for your buck if you can get in and everything's pretty much brand new. The staff were great. The lady that showed us the facility was very flexible and seemed just genuine. She even did a follow-up after we decided to go to another facility. She was very attentive and I think kind of helped with the process. This is not an easy process overall to be doing and I think she kind of made it a little easier. They had a kitchen on site and even a little bar area up top where it's like a little social area with pops and ice cream. It seemed like it was a really good place.

I liked Cascade Creek. The staff seemed nice. The facilities are brand new, and I liked the safety measures of the place. They have a safety sensor in the resident's room. When a person gets out of bed and goes into the bathroom, they're aware of it. If they're not back to bed in 15 minutes, they're also aware of it. They will go check on the person. While I was there, they were doing activities in this family room. They had a big TV on. There were four or five residents who were kind of dancing to the music. I looked at one room, and it was just a small room, since that's what they do for memory care. They said that once you run out of money, then you have to go somewhere else.
