New Perspectives Carlson Parkway is an outstanding senior facility in all ways. It is very warm and caring place for your loved one. The Executive Director Jacqueline maintains a residence that is vibrant, exceptionally clean and a healthy atmosphere for mind, body and soul. My mother has been a resident for almost 3 years and she always refers to NP as her "home". The activity director, Diana, has many daily activities to stimulate the residents and I was lucky enough to attend the monthly birthday party for 13 August birthdays being celebrated. The food is very creative and always has optional menu items. The grounds are kept very neat and clean and the hallways are wide. There is no "odor" as in some facilities I have been in, in fact you get the feeling you are in a high end apartment complex as you walk the halls. The assistants who help with the residences are caring and loving towards all. I witnessed genuine care and concern many times in my visits. This is the RIGHT place.

My brother has been at New Perspective in both assisted-living for a few months and now in memory care for the last five months. The staff at New Perspective Minnetonka is amazing. They are so professional, so personable, and care so much about the residents. My brother is in great hands and we feel so comfortable having them there.

I saw New Perspective | Carlson Parkway. I visited the independent, the memory care, and the assisted living. The staff was pretty nice there. I liked them. I feel like they might be a little understaffed, like on the weekends and stuff like that. They never really offered me much in independent living. They said Mom had to be in assisted living, but she didn't need to be. One day I went in there, and the elevator was broken down. It's an older building. It's beautiful inside. It's all redone. The first person I met, Gia, was wonderful. I kind of put it on hold because we weren't ready to put Mom in. I went back, and the next person was not so great and didn't follow through with the tour. On the weekends, it seemed like there was nobody around. It was just like really desolate.

My parent is sharp for their age and has shared concerns about the Minnetonka New Perspective staff not responding at all or for hours to pendants, slowness with meal service, or kitchen staff just not showing up at all on weekends to prepare breakfast and having to frequently remind staff to assist with showers. Food quality is hit or miss. The on-site manager & corporate operations director have been dismissive, blaming residents for not knowing how to use pendants and showing up in the dining room before mealtimes. The on-site manager frequently ignores reports of problems, rarely acknowledging them or forwarding to staff for resolution. She seems unwilling to delegate duties but doesn’t manage them alone.

I toured New Perspective Carlson Parkway. It was new and updated, and it was very nice. We saw the studio room and it was nice and updated, but it was a little bit small. The dining area was nice, spacious, new, and updated. It was more like a restaurant. It had a bar area, and they do happy hours there, and then it had a seating area. We saw bingo going on and some residents were meeting in the lobby with their loved ones. The staff was very friendly. It didn't have as much outdoor space as I would have hoped, but they had it beautifully maintained. It was definitely in a more industrial area.

When our mother moved into assisted living, this facility was called Brookdale and it was very nice. 2 years later, she had to move into memory care and New Perspectives took over. We have since moved our mother to another facility where she is finally getting the care she needs. The staff at New Perspectives was rude and inattentive. Many calls and messages were ignored. Whenever anyone visited our mother, at anytime of day, she was still in her pajamas because no one helped her dress. Despite the fact that teeth and nail care were part of her care plan, they did not care for her teeth or nails. As a result, we had to pay a total of $2600 out of pocket for cavities and severe tarter build-up. Our aunt would care for our mother’s nails when she could visit. Each time, her nails were 2 inches long, cracked, and filthy. This was noted on other residents as well. No one ever informed us when our mother needed toiletries or other necessities. My sister and I would spend hours cleaning our mother’s room because it was filthy. Her mattress was ruined and the mattress cover was missing. The mattress cover was replaced with old towels under her fitted sheet. We have pictures of the filth in the room. We also cleaned numerous razors out of her bathroom basket that we did not purchase for her. Communication was sparse and only occurred when we would complain or not at all. Multiple efforts to file a complaint with the corporate office were not answered. The website states that there are daily activities and, based on our experience, this was not true. Please do not sent your loved one here! You will regret it. If we could, we would rate NP with 0 stars.

Not Good I would not move a loved one into Brookdale Minnetonka. My wife was in [removed] so my knowledge of assisted living is limited to hearing over the radios that "this person's light has been on for a while". My wife had been there for a little over a year and the administration is very unresponsive from the start. I was told a couple things prior to moving in that turned out to be untrue. This filled a room for them and cost me more money which I am sure they were happy about. Do not get me wrong, there are some aides, maintenance staff and receptionists that are very good and committed to the work they do. Sadly, the lazy aides are running the few good aides out. Over the past 5 months, the care level has gone down hill very fast and there is NO supervision in the memory care unit. I have filled the administration in and what goes on back there with no response and no action taken. Aides will be in the kitchen talking and visiting or on their phones during meals instead of helping the residents. Aides would argue in the kitchen because a few of them did not want to do anything. Everyone at the tables could hear what was going on. Some days aides would ignore residents and I heard an aide mimicking and making fun of a couple residents. One aide told a resident that “you get what you get” when he asked what was for breakfast. I informed the administration and she asked for details. I have been giving details for 5 months and nothing changes and of course nothing changed after that conversation. I know employees have told management that things need to change and they don't even get a reply. I was paying a lot of money which included assistance with meals and that never happened. She would struggle feeding herself unless myself or my stepdaughter were there to help. It was such a bad experience I would not move anyone in there. I feel terrible for the few good employees there but when it comes to care level, supervision and administration responsiveness - it is the worst. I am sure a few more self sufficient residents have had a good experience but if your loved one needs more care, I would advise you to look elsewhere

I visited this community recently while looking for assisted living for my mother. I was extremely impressed by the staff and the overall feel of the community. The apartments were much bigger than many of the other communities that I have toured. I had lunch with my tour and the chicken was very good and the veggies were crisp. The gentleman that gave me my tour was very courteous and helpful. The only thing that I do not like about the community was that they do not have underground parking.
