SummerWood of Chanhassen is a wonderful place. I would certainly recommend it. It's beautiful, it's clean, and it's comfortable. All the people are just very, very nice. I love it here. They're friendly, and it's just a lovely place. The staff is very nice and responsive, so I'm happy with them. I make my own food except for breakfast. It's a continental breakfast, and it's very nice. They have bingo, they have a chapel, they have exercise classes, they've got a card room, a puzzle room, and a library. It's very, very well equipped. I think it's a good deal for me.

I wasn't impressed with SummerWood of Chanhassen's assisted living, primarily. They have some activities, but the building just has two hallways and a dining room, so there's no sort of big room/activity area. They had something structured, but Mom didn't always feel comfortable going. Plus they weren't on the level of her floor. So she would have had to go to a different floor to go to their activities. She was very isolated and I think it was not a positive experience for her at all. The nursing staff was great. Some of the aides were very receptive and careful with Mom, while some of the aides were not. So, it was kind of a mixed response. They were understaffed. They did not have enough people to respond to the needs of assisted living at all. Their price is pretty much in the same ballpark as everyone else.

I'm looking for a two-bedroom, and I kind of liked the way the layouts were like in SummerWood of Chanhassen. I also liked the way the people were treated. They call each other by their first names. I liked the way they kept the place nice and clean. They seemed to care about the residents.

We chose SummerWood in Chanhassen because it was affordable and because of the size. It's a smaller assisted living, and I just liked how clean and neat it was. My mom is in assisted living. They have workout classes, cards, Bible study, and movies. They also do holiday gatherings, they have a choir, and they do all kinds of stuff. They haven't had any Covid positive tests there, so that was good. They also still have the mask mandate and I felt very safe, so does my mom.

I toured SummerWood of Chanhassen for my mother. The apartments were very outdated. They are Christian oriented. It's owned by Presbyterian Home, and my mother would like that. It was it was quite beautiful and very clean. The place was close to me. It is in the downtown area where they're close to shopping areas and churches. The dining area was very nice. The apartment itself was very small and outdated. It did not have balconies, and the outdoor space was not great.

My mom moved into SummerWood of Chanhassen. She is doing very well. She really likes it. There are lots of activities. She does Bible studies, singing, and bingo. They sometimes have arts and crafts. My mom lives in a 1-bedroom and she prepares her own meals. She has a full kitchen. The cabinets are lowered for an older person. It is clean. There are grab bars in her walk-in shower. It is a very safe apartment for her. She has a living room, a bedroom, a bathroom, and a laundry room. She has her own washer and dryer.

SummerWood was very bright and had a lot of younger people so it didn’t seem like an old folks' home. It had good amenities and was priced relatively easy. I liked the way it looked and I felt comfortable there. It was a nice community and it's also in a good location.

I think summerwood is an excellent all-around facility, I have several friends that lived there, and they highly recommend it too. The rooms we looked at were nice, but my wife thought they were small.

We visited SummerWood for my aunt.It was a beautiful, lovely place. I think that going there was the first realization that this might be workable for her, because up to that point, she was somewhat resistent. When she got there, looked around, and talked to people, it really did start to change her mind. She was thinking, "Oh, I don't have to cook every meal" because she hasn't been eating well, so it was very helpful. I thought the people at SummerWood were very nice and helpful.

The facility is not too bad. Nice amenities, A movie theater, Events and activities. And my mother likes the other people living there... Yet, I want to type many paragraphs of problems... My mother complains of something almost every time I visit. A common one is the food is usually terrible - sometimes okay, but sometimes so bad she tells me she didn't eat it. And getting help with anything is always the same - to the point she has gotten so tired of being told 'we will have to charge for that' when she asks for help - she is afraid to even ask for things now I think. Most of the things she tells me are so simple, would require minimal effort and sometimes no effort - just presence to make sure she finished something safely. A recent surgery has made care more difficult there. Instructions from her Doctor have gone ignored (to call me if she falls, and go to Urgent Care asap if there is pain)... After 4 falls in one week and Mom saying even if she presses her call pendant, they don't show up for a long time, often showing up after she has finished in the bathroom after cleaning up because she didn't make it in time... I finally gave in and agreed to upping services, another $1000+ per month - just to help her go to the bathroom once a day - early am when she had been falling... Mother's requests were ignored - took many requests by me to get them to NOT force her to go to the bathroom 6 times/day (included for that fee) - when we only want the scheduled one once a day around 3 am. This 'once a day' was the 'basis' I explained needed and insisted on, stating the other 5 times would not be used unless she requested them. They ignored that, scheduling 6 times/day - guess they did not want her using her call pendant for bathroom calls - would rather schedule and force them on her - just obvious. A week now and seems they finally are getting this right. Oh, and one fall on Friday, the weekend aid told me the Nurse would check on her and call me Monday - okay... well, she called around 4 pm - just before she left... WHY take so long? This is supposed to be a Christian place - where caring for the customer is the first thought... yet - they place $ more important than care. Little things I hear - like we pay for shower and also for drying her off - but the aid then leaves right away - can't stay a minute just to watch and be sure Mom gets dressed on her own okay... My Mom said she asked 'can you stay for just a minute to be sure I am okay' - and is told 'no, have to go help someone else'... Mom has finally accepted the lack of care and not to expect any courtesy's there anymore... I have no idea how expensive other places are or if their care policies or services are the same as here - maybe Summerwood is better than most? I just wish they would make a better effort to provide the care requested - that I wouldn't have to hear bad things from my Mom, and to ask over and over the few things that are important... Approaching Summerwood management now - I feel like they hate me for bugging them again... I seldom feel a friendly attitude from them anymore - like we felt during the initial tour...

Summerwood was really nice. We really liked it except my grandma wouldn't use any facility. It just wasn't for her. The staff seemed friendly and pleasant. The rooms were spacious and the bathrooms were equipped for the elderly.

I went to SummerWood of Chanhassen and I saw that the place is new. The location had an easy access to church and shopping. They do have exercise class and the facility is able to transition from independent to assisted living, but it was just a little too far from our place.

Summerwood is a beautiful place. It has exercise facilities, a wonderful dining room, and a caring staff. There are nurses on staff to look after the tenants, and monitor their medications. It's a good place for those seniors who are mobile, but otherwise declining in health, and no longer are able to stay at home alone. However, it is expensive, and while my mother was there, I saw cuts in staff, and staff without needed experience. I would rather have paid for better staff service, than expensive decorations.

I went to Summerwood to visit a friend of mines Grandparents. We arrived and were greeted at the front entrance with juice and cookies. That was really great and I have never been in a facility like that to offer such accomadation. We then took the elevator up to the third floor, didnt really see any stair wells, which would be nice to see for the more active residents. We got to the room where his grandparents were living, which was very easy to find. Then we visited for a little bit. It almost seemed like an upscale apartment complex. we went to dinner and i talked with a few nursing assistants and they seemed very knowledgable and passionate about their jobs. The food we ate was amazing, a chi=oice of beef bourginon or shrimp scampi over rice. I had tthe oppurtunity to try them both and it was like fine dining restaurants. wow cant wait till im older!!!!!!

We found ourselves in Chanhassen for an outing at the Chanhassen Theater in the area, so decided to stop in at the Summerwood of Chanhassen assisted living facility after lunch before the show "“ because it was right across the street. We were looking for a place for our aunt to live and have been checking out facilities in the Minneapolis area. Our aunt loves to go to the Chanhassen Theater, so we thought how convenient it would be if she could go as often as she liked. This facility is very easy to get to "“ given that there is access to Highways 5 and 101. This also makes it easy to get to Minneapolis, where our aunt enjoys many other cultural events. The exterior was well-kept and nicely designed. The nearby walking trails flank a nearby retail area, which we know our aunt will enjoy. The living accommodations all looked lovely. The Terrace Apartments that overlooked the wetlands "“ with one and two bedrooms, some with a den "“ had eat-in kitchens, lots of storage and washers and dryers. The common areas are designed for group and casual social gatherings and all of the recreational opportunities were interesting and varied, including anything you could think of doing. We were very impressed that they even have woodshop. The resource center includes computers, and the chapel was beautiful. This community features a small town neighborhood environment, to meet and make friends for lunch or shop at the market. There is also beauty salon, shops, a cafe, library, movie theater and fitness center. Our aunt could also keep her beloved cat, which were relieved to find out. The food options were nearly limitless "“ from restaurant to home-style fare "“ you could find any kind of food you desired. The staff ensures that special dietary needs are met and snacks are offered frequently. The staff was caring, kind and efficient as well. It was clear that their first priority is their residents "“ as every detail of their care has been thoughtfully attended to. This is an extraordinary facility where anyone would be happy to live.
