Beacon Square is a very nice environment for the residents. My Dad lives there. I visit at least twice a day for his special needs (stoma). The staff is extremely caring. His room is comfortable, and easy access to dining. His bathroom is beautiful and roomy. No lip to the shower. Nancy the activity coordinator does an excellent job. The activity staff is very aware to include the residents. This facility gave more variety to my Dad's life. So very fortunate my Dad is able to to live there. I would highly recommend Beacon.

Beautiful facility that's well-maintained. Generous size room. Reasonably good personalized food. My father did not want to participate in activities, so I can't say a lot about that. The staff is well-trained to be pleasant and agreeable, but sometimes follow-through is lacking. As a medical professional, I thought the staff could have used more training and supervision. They did not do transfers in the safest way. They did not manage shaving and hearing aids as well as one could wish. If a patient needs assistance to the toilet, even if they know how to call for help, there is little chance someone will come in time to prevent incontinence. Some staff were very responsive and helpful, others less so. The staffing ratios seem adequate. Overall, unless you get one to one care, this is probably as good as it gets.

My mother was a resident there for awhile. Nice facility but realize you do pay a premium. On the tour they do tell you about the staff to resident ratio, but that hardly matters when the staff are tucked away playing on their phones. Also, the medical care was poor. They seemed to rely on medication as their care. Most residents where sat in front of the television where they would just stare aimlessly. My mother did get worse under their care were as now she is doing better. At a different place with more activities and staff interaction.

My mom was here in memory care and we had so many issues with staff. They play on their phones all the time and residents are put in front on the tv. We complained to upper management and my mom was kicked out. They don't like when you complain. We asked for my mom to see a dentist and they never brought one in. My dad had to finally take her somewhere else. My mom lost a lot of items from her room and they wouldn't help in finding them or issue a refund.

We had a bad experience at Beacon. Not enough activities going on, a always being cancelled. Residents are just sat in front of the TV.

My father was a resident of Beacon Square. He moved there from an independent living facility that included a high level of care (for an additional charge), but he needed more consistent care. The family setting (3 "houses" with small dining areas) was perfect for him. The facility provided many activities and the activity directors encouraged him to join in on the fun. The aides were very kind and recognized that he was a person who liked to joke around. He enjoyed the food...the chef does a very good job. At the end, when he was on hospice, everyone was very helpful and caring. The staff's kindness helped us through a very difficult time.

Naturally expectations are high when you are paying for a premier facility like Beacon Square. Most aspects of this home are great, however, there have been a few disappointing issues. When we have tried to express disappointment about anything, there seems to be a lot of 'passing the buck' which leads to not much resolution. My grandmother has had some health issues and the frequency of Dr. visits has been pretty sparse. I also think that there is a lot of room for improvement with communication between staff members.

My mother just passed away after spending 13 months at Beacon Square-Northville. She moved into the Assisted Living section in January of 2016.however, within 5 weeks it was clear she needed more care. So while we had dinner in the dining room the staff moved her things to the Memory care side of the building. Several staff members pitched in to accomplish the move including caregivers, maintenance workers and even the chef. I visited my mother 2 to 3 times each week and other members of the family did as well. With so many of us coming and going we had many opportunities to assess the care she and others were receiving. As I walked (and later wheeled) our mom around the building various staff member would hug and kiss her. Everyone knew her name and made her feel welcome. She regularly told me how happy she was and how wonderful the people were. When she finally passed away it was after family had left for the evening but a member of the night shift continued to stay by her bed and hold her hand. It was because of the dedication of the staff that she did not die alone.

Beacon Square is fine, new, and high-tech. The people there seemed to be nice. Being new, it’s very clean and open, which was one of the big draws for us. The small dining area is set up in an L-shape with a bar and a dining area and a seating area with a TV. The whole thing is built in a square around a nice outside courtyard, so they can go out there and be secure. A lot of other places just has a path around their facility, but this one is all enclosed, which is nice.

Beacon Square is brand new and has a different feel; it's very airy and sunny. Basically everything is included in the price. We weren't charged for each hour and the different medications, so all of the care and even the pants that my mom wears are included in the price. The food is very good. It's actually a little too good. They have chefs cook really good food. The staff is wonderful and as sweet as can be. We really like that they have their own little chapel in the building, which is really important to my mom. Church is everything to her. It's very sweet. They have a ton of activities, like gardening, walking club, Bible study four times a week for different denominations, exercise, and play cards. She's in memory care, and I don't know how they do it, but they do it. They're still new and still working on their procedures, but other than that, they're wonderful.
