I have my brother at Applewood Assisted Living. We chose it because they had rooms available when I needed them. It's very clean. He's got a nice room. The staff is nice and friendly. The girls are patient with him. They don't have any activities other than watching TV and putting puzzles together, and he doesn't participate in that. They have a lot of cats, so if you're allergic to cats, it's not the place to go. They have a dining room and a front room with a TV and recliners. It's a nice place. They've worked with me on the money part.

We had an amazing experience with our mother's stay at Applewood. The home is small and homey, which is what our mother loved. The staff was so caring and attentive. We were always notified quickly with any changes in her health. Beverly felt so much love as did we from the staff. Kudos to Applewood - they are the Best!!

As a paramedic and firefighter/medical first responder, I have responded to all of the assisted living facilities in Midland County and most of those in Clare, Gratiot, and Isabella counties for over 35 years. When it became necessary to find a safe place for my mother to live, I could have chosen any one of the many facilities, but I chose Applewood as THE place for my mother – that was over 5 years ago. I am still as pleased with the care my mother receives as the first day she moved in. The owners AND the staff still provide EXCELLENT care. How do I know? For the few emergency calls they have, I’ve been there at different hours of the day and night; I see first-hand what is happening in this home without any notice. Furthermore we receive updates about my mother’s changes and cooperate with making sure that my mom does not have to go to the hospital for non-emergent issues (unlike many AFC’s in this county). If you are looking for a SAFE, LOVING home (not just a facility) for your loved one, I encourage you to consider Applewood..

Applewood Assisted Living Facility is a great facility for most elderly or disabled people. Overall, the grounds are well kept and beautifully decorated. However, despite the landscaping being great, there are no pavilions or walking trails for residents to enjoy the outdoors in. In fact, there is very little outdoor space provided at all. A good thing about the facility, though, is the food. There is a pretty good selection of food and it is all pretty well prepared. It is not quite the normal assisted living facility food that you would expect, however it is nothing special either. The rooms are spacious and quite homey. Also, the facility is not as strict as some others, making it seem more like a living community than an assisted living facility. The nurses are also very friendly and skilled. They not only know what they are doing as far as medically, but they are great with keeping patients up to date with medication and being real friends to the residents. Overall, it is a pretty good facility.
