Riverside Place Senior Citizen is magnificent. It's right next to a river, and there's a trail that you can use, so that's the outside and it's wonderful. And then the inside is always clean and nice. I can't say enough good things. The staff are very busy. They have their jobs. I've used the maintenance man a couple of times, and he's very efficient. Everybody does what they're supposed to do. In terms of activities, right now, they're announcing that there's a big band set at 5:00. There are way too many different activities. Today they had two afternoon activities. There's more but I don't do like the pool, shuffleboard, cornhole, or bocce. But I do exercise on Tuesday and Thursday. It's a gentle exercise where you sit in chairs and it's fun. It's a great place for a bunch of old ladies that sit and do all the exercises. There are too many exercises to do actually. I'm only in my apartment a few hours a day, otherwise, there's something to do. Food would be the one drawback. They're cafeteria food when you were in college. They cater to your table, and it's called gourmet dining, but I don't know about how gourmet it is. They have white tablecloths on tables, and it is fancy, but the food is mass-produced. It's not your mom's home cooking. It was hard for me at first to get used to that. And then people that have been here longer say, 'You get what you get and don't throw a fit,' and so okay, that's what I'll do. It's not the cheapest one that we checked into, but it's about the right price. It's the market price for what my rent would be.

Riverside Place was nice, and my dad was pleased with it. It's an independent living, and they have their own apartments. We will be choosing this place because we like the location. The staff we had an interaction with were very kind and helpful. My father was impressed with how nice and clean the facility was. The staff was very friendly. He was happy that they offer a type of card game that he likes to play. They have a variety of activities, and one was his favorite. The neighborhood is very nice, and he would have access to various activities in the downtown neighborhood. The facility itself is very nice. The residents were very friendly. They spoke to my father and that made him feel welcome.

My mother was a resident for almost 5 years and was tremendously happy there. The staff are excellent professionals and they deeply care about all the residents.

We went to Riverside Place. We made the arrangements through a friend who lives there. She invited us to come down and take a look at the place since she knew that we were looking. It was nice, and I think they have pretty decent activities. I am not super impressed with the rooms, but they were nice. They have a couple of areas where there is a TV, they have a pool table that I have never seen being used, and there seemed to be a number of people working on some puzzles in their community area. They had some activities in the dining room, and it was pretty nice, but I did not see an awful lot of people participating in the activities.

I visited Riverside Place Senior Citizen, and it's very nice. Dad would have gotten a little efficiency apartment, which I liked. They don't have a stove, and he would have a problem with something being on the stove, but a nice little kitchenette, living room, and a bedroom. I think that would have been a real nice setting for him, but he was acting out a little bit, and they don't take people who do that. It's a very nice setting right downtown. It's right on the river. The food was pretty good. They used frozen vegetables, which I don't like. I had lunch, and there were several courses. It's very inexpensive because it's subsidized by Dow Chemical and some other companies. The staff was very nice. They only have 17 spots for supportive care. Then they have assisted living, and there is a waiting list for those spots.

We visited the independent living facility of Riverside Place and that's the one that my mom wanted to go to. However, when we got there, it was on the smaller size compared to the others that we had looked at and because it was independent living, her meals would have to be contracted separately. Also, for her evening meal, she would have had a snack bar. She needed a balanced meal and I didn't like the idea of a snack bar for her evening meal. The services for the cleaning and nursing services were not included and that's a draw back for me. But the staff was very nice. The dining room was large and well lit. She had acquaintances that lived there and it was in her home town.
