We were very satisfied with Church of Christ Care. They were outstanding. They went out of their way to make my dad comfortable and make us feel comfortable going through the situation that we had to go through. Unfortunately, my dad lost his battle. They were very good with the last 9 months my dad had. The care was exceptional and it seem like the people that work there really cared and it seem they were on top of everything. It was a nice, clean facility and they had ground areas for them to walk. The facility where my dad was at, at the end it was more like a hospice. So they kind of cover a little bit of everything.

My sister stayed at Church of Christ Assisted Living for four days. That place was a two-floor story unit. The second floor wasn't even being used. My sister was the only one up there in that second unit all by herself. As you enter, there should be a person who directs you where you can go. Sometimes that person will be sitting at the desk, but a lot of times, you can't find a person. The place was pretty clean. The room was nice. Some assisted living facilities would tell you that you could bring your own furniture, but the Church of Christ Assisted Living provided a lot of the things we needed for my sister like bookshelves and chairs. So, everything was well set up, but we can hardly reach them at all when you need them. When my sister was having the seizure, my brother said they had to go around knocking on doors, trying to find somebody. It seems like the people there were not properly trained on how to handle a person who has a seizure. They only really have 1 or 2 nurses on staff. After a certain time at night, all you had was medical assistants who would do the work. As far as activities and stuff, that part was very good. I liked that they got my sister dressed, took her around to different activities, and kept her active.

Church of Christ is near where we live. The rooms are functional and of decent size. They have activities. It’s working out for us.

When my sister and I went and got the tour, Church of Christ Care Center was very nice. And my sister and I just showed up unannounced. When my mother was there, it was not the same tour that my sister and I got. This was the place that my mother had always said, "That's where I am going to go. If I had to move to any place, that's where I am going to go." After we got there, she said, 'I don't want to go there." The food was not good, and there were no choices. You either had what they had, or you had a sandwich maybe, but not really any other choice. I have friends whose mothers had been there, and they have been very pleased, but it was much more clinical. It was more of a hospital nursing home setting than it was an assisted living. Moving out of your house and continuing on your own as long as you could, it was much more a nursing home sort of setting, so that kind of turned us off. The staff was very nice, and they were very accommodating and very personable. The difference in those two days was night and day, and we got the tour from the same person.

My sister-in-law was at Church of Christ for quite a while. I would go there in a minute if I could. It’s not very old but it’s not brand new either. It’s very clean, lots of activities. I knew they had a church and a center for exercise and movies and things like that. The room was a little small for me but it was pretty good. Each floor had its own dining facility; it was very nice. They have tables and they’re waited on. I think the staff was fine but she is very nice and it made it easy to take care of her. They probably could have used more regular nurses.

Church of Christ was an assisted living, so it was more hands-on. The living space was smaller, but it was cozy. It was basically a living room and a bathroom. The staff was friendly and helpful. They went out of their way and had conversations with the people who were there, regardless of what their limitations were. They had nice choices of food, and it was excellent. They had activities, and they just had a Mardi Gras party and other team parties. They also had bingo and so forth that keeps them active. My grandmother tends to want to be independent, but they obviously kept track of her.

I really like Church of Christ Care Center. I have a good friend whose mother is there and they're really happy with it. The person who showed me around was very nice and the staffing there was very nice as well. They would have been a better choice because it was closer to one of my sisters; however, since we're looking for a facility that offers tray service, we knew that place was not an option. They didn't offer tray service to their residents. It seemed to be a good facility though.

About $2000/month cheaper than other assisted livings in the area. Staff are caring and patient. Lots of activities for patients but staff needs to be more proactive in encouraging and helping patients to get to these. Facility is clean and smells good. The rooms are larger than most of the places I looked at and each has a private bathroom and kitchen area. Parents have lived here for 2 and I am happy with my choice.
