My husband moved into American House Freedom Place Roseville for respite care. It's small. I think they only have 25 to 28 residents in memory care, which I like. The layout is fine. It's easy for the residents to get around. The dining room seems to be large and spacious. The community room where they sit around the television, seems clean. No odors. The staff seems to be polite and professional. I did ask my husband after the first few days and he said the food was tasty. He is on a soft diet. So it seems like they can handle that. So these people can provide a special diet. So that was one of the reasons why I selected this place. The cost is too high, and then we have to provide everything like towels. And he's incontinent, so diapers and pads and things like that.

We chose American House Freedom Place Roseville for mom. She's moving in today. They just seemed friendly, everyone, even the people there, besides the workers, was friendly. Nice, neat. They have a lot of activities that my mother probably would eventually get involved in. The rooms are nice and clean. When I walked in, I just felt like a home place, somewhere where my mother can be safe. Yesterday I went to take some stuff into my mother's room to her new room, and one of the patients, or residents, tried to open the door, so that told me she couldn't because the alarm went off. So that tells me right there that they can't get out, and that it is a safe place. I saw the dining area, and I saw the kitchen. The kitchen was nice, neat, and clean, and then the dining areas. The whole place was nice and neat. Everything seemed to be in place, but we had not tasted the food. Across the hall is a TV area where you can bring your family. Like, I think the resident there and her family were there. So they were able to use this, four of them plus her. You're able to come and be with your family in a separate room instead of your actual apartment. They had activities. They have, like, books, games, and coloring. They had at least three dining areas. Each had a TV in them separately, nice, comfortable-looking chairs. They were watching TV together. Some of them had their family also sitting there watching TV with them. I went into the single room, it's a nice size, eventually, she's going to be in a double room, but right now she's in a single room. I might have to change her bed because there was no headboard. But it was nice and clean, it looked like a foam bed. The staff was very friendly. I asked her questions. I think I asked her about the bed. She said that's the bed that they give, but you're more than welcome to bring whatever bed you want to bring. She said, when you bring your mother ( they already know her name), she told me I wouldn't have to worry. They'll help with her showers. They'll make sure she gets everything she needs. I think another thing that I like is they have, like, a lockbox outside of her room. And what you do is you put pictures so that she won't get lost in which room. When she sees the picture right by the room, then she would know that's her room.

I liked that American House Freedom Place Roseville was all within one little area. So, they had an eyeball view of the residents. They have potential church services, a podiatrist, an in-house doctor, and a hairdresser that can come in. You can bring food in for your loved one and they have an aroma room, light therapy, and a place to go and just sort of unwind. You have a choice of private or semi-private rooms with a half wall. The facility looked very, very clean. They do the laundry and the house cleaning. They were also very clear on their policies for masking and how to keep infection controlled. The lady that gave the tour was wonderful. She was very open to explaining everything, answered all my questions thoroughly, was very understanding, and knew how to deal with people and relationships. She was very keen on that. We went over the different needs of each resident as far as chewing and swallowing and things like that. They went over where the food was prepared and I was there while they were having lunch. I saw how they were being assisted with getting seated and with their meals. They have a nice enclosed area and I liked the fact that the whole campus itself was enclosed. It's a locked unit, so that's good.

We visited American House Freedom Place Roseville; it was great. The facility was very clean, the staff members were very friendly, and the rooms or the patient suites are very modernized and up to date. So if I had a choice of facility for my grandmother, that would be my number one selection. They were very knowledgeable, friendly, and inviting.

I visited American House Freedom Place Roseville. I liked it there; it has a very homey feel to it. Everybody seemed really nice. I met quite a few of the staff. The common areas were nice. The rooms were nice, and very clean. I was able to view their activities with the director. It seemed like they try to get everybody involved when they can. It would be my second choice. Yesterday, they were playing bingo, and people were in the common area. I had a chance to chat with the couple just briefly saying, "Hi!" and, "How are you?" to a couple of the residents. It seemed like a very welcome feel to the place. It's another one that felt like home. Nobody was rushed. The staff was very accommodating to the people there; they were taking care of them. It had a very homey feel to it. The dining area was bigger than the other facility, I liked it. They had some personal attention as well. I didn't try the food; I was there later in the afternoon.

My visit to American House Freedom Place Roseville was a very good experience, and I liked what I saw. The young lady that toured with me was very informative and very nice. That was one of the ones that would definitely be in the running. It was very clean. The residents looked comfortable, they looked like they were enjoying themselves. When we went, they were either going out after breakfast or going in for lunch. There were a lot of the residents at the table eating, so they looked pretty comfortable. I liked the room; she showed me a private room and she showed me a shared room. The staff members were very friendly. The staff that we spoke to seemed like they were nice. They have different activities and things they do. Sometimes you can't get an older person every day, and they tend to maybe want to act out, or not do what they need to do, and they have an area where they can let them calm down for a minute and get themselves together, kind of like a quiet room.

American House Freedom Place is outstanding. They would have been our first choice if it weren't for the money, which is an issue. I visited them in person. The staff was outstanding. American House is great. They seem to understand dementia very well. It was just a generally overall positive experience.
