I visited this facility

The Pines of Clarkston seemed to be a very down-to-earth, very friendly, and very relaxed place. They had a lot of staff wandering around making sure residents were OK and directing them where they needed to go. They also had more activities going on. The first time you walk in, it seemed like you're walking into the main street, because they have a little snack shop/store out there, a beauty/barber shop, and a private little dining area for families. So, there's some character to it. They also have a koi pond. All the three people I met; the head person, one of the aides, and the supervisor, were very down to earth. The menu looked pretty accommodating for the seniors, too.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My wife has moved into The Pines of Clarkston memory care. I like that it's close to my home, and I looked at the reviews, and they're very good. My daughter and I are impressed by The Pines. It seemed like they were taking care of the people that live there, and they kept in touch with me also. There's good communication. The staff is very good. I didn't taste the food myself, but it looks good. The room is spacious, it's well lit, and they have a WiFi connection. So she has a TV with WiFi, and cable also, because they have cable, but they try to limit her TV because they want her to mingle with the other residents. She appears to be doing well. There are times when she doesn't like the food. I've never really watched the activities, but looking at the schedule, it looks pretty good.

My Mother had advanced dementia so we were worried about her reaction to going. The staff allowed us to go in first and decorate her room. So we got it all set up with her pictures and decorations. It turned out so nice and the staff were awesome. It’s a very emotional time and they are very kind, compassionate and understanding. They assured us we could visit any time night or day. It is a very clean & spacious home. So beautiful also. I highly recommend them!!!

My dad moved into the Pines of Clarkston. He's been there a couple of weeks now, and so far, he loves it. It's a great place. The people are nice and the facility is clean. We haven't been able to do much because of Covid, so to experience the full benefit of any facility right now, you can't say too much about it because you can't get involved in any of it. My dad talks about the food there, but just like anybody typical of his age, one day he can't stand it, but the next day he says it's the best food in the world. They do good food, and they have a chef who went to culinary school, so he's got a lot of expertise and he's not just somebody else that just decided to cook. My dad has his own bathroom, which is great. The room size is decent, and they offer free cable television, but he can't see so that that doesn't help a lot. He's able to bring his own refrigerator in and his television in. The room is big enough to put a little table there. They offer internet access, which is good because I set his room up with a VOIP phone service, then he can use his Alexa devices, which is great. They just had a Christmas party which was nice, but as far as any particular activity, the facility doesn't have a lot of people in there at this time, so they can't do a whole lot because of the Covid situation. The staff has been really helpful, and they respond real fast if he has an issue. They seem caring and friendly, too, which is always good. I've looked around at different places, but Pines of Clarkston assisted living just felt homey. When you walk in, the main entrance is nice with the waterfall in there, and they have a little movie theater and a little place for the people to get haircuts when that's available. The size is small, so I thought they might be able to care for you better there.

Pines of Clarkston has two separate buildings for assisted living and memory care. The assisted living side has 26 residents and different room configurations. They provide activities and all the meals daily. It's a small place that provides extremely personalized care.
