My father has moved to The Village of East Harbor, and it's fantastic. It's nice, clean, and well-staffed and they're attentive. They have stuff scheduled pretty much all day, every day. He says the food is really good. The communication between me and the staff has also been good. They had amenities like a nice chapel, a little store, a gym, and plenty of stuff to keep him busy if he wants. It's very well-maintained and highly recommended. They also provide some transportation. His room is big and comfortable, he has a living area and a bedroom and it's very nice. He's allowed to have his own nurse come in for some care issues.

Mom stayed at The Village of East Harbor for rehab. The staff was nice, but it seemed like they were short-staffed at night because the response time wasn't the best. I didn't try any of the food because it didn't look that great. They do physical therapy for my mom and they do whatever they can to improve the condition of their patients.

We decided on The Village of East Harbor for my mom because they can have a transitional Medicaid, so we won't have to move her again. Overall, I was very happy with the tour. I met probably four people, we toured twice, and we're glad about the information provided and the tour itself. The facility was very nice, they're very professional, and it's very clean. We haven't tried the food but we visited when they were eating lunch, the food looked good and it smelled very good in the dining room. They have the dining area, the chapel, the sensory room, the TV area, and the other common room, and they were all very nicely furnished and comfortable. There was staff all around. It felt very comfortable.

My mom moved into the Village of East Harbor. It's clean, perfect, and has good care. It's a beautiful community. I would recommend anyone being there. The staff is impeccable. They got a chapel and a breakfast joint there. It's 44 acres of a beautiful area. It's safe and secure. I think it's beautiful inside and gorgeous. They have a lot of activities. They take care of their people. There's no dirt.

The Village of East Harbor was a real nice facility. They're trying to work with us with Medicaid because Medicaid picks up the nursing care and the food portion, which helps a lot. We liked that it was a secure facility, it was clean, and the staff was professional. They have to assess Mom to see where she would fit in, and then we're just waiting to get that assessment back to see where they can place her in the building, because they also have independent living. It's a huge independent living community, but in the middle of it is the assisted living, and the memory care. The rooms were a nice size. They weren't as big as the one at the other place, but they all had their own private bathrooms. It's a nice hallway, especially the memory care area. There is someone on staff there, so Mom wouldn't be able to wander out of the facility. There's someone on-staff there 24/7. They have activities, a pool, therapy rooms to do physical therapy, and another area for crafts.

My mother-in-law ended up in just about every level of care at Village of East Harbor. She went to their rehab after her hospitalization, went back into assisted living, then if assisted living wasn't working for her after one of her hospitalizations, they put her in memory care for a month just because it's more hands-on there. So, it was not really her memory, it's just that they have higher staffing levels there, and she needed that right at the moment. They also had independent living where people had their own condos off the main building. They're even adding more right now. No matter where you are within their system, as your needs changed, you're at the top of their list because you're part of their family, and they will find a suitable place for you within the campus based on your needs, which is beautiful. I'd love to find that kind of system in my area, but it doesn't seem to exist here in southwestern Pennsylvania. They had three or four activities a day that they could opt into. She was there before COVID, so they were able to do outings where they could sign up, and go out on the shopping excursions and stuff. She also participated in games and stuff. Everybody was just wonderful. The food was good, and they had an activity room, a beautiful chapel, a salon, and she enjoyed the church services. They just did a good job with her. In her last days, they had a gentleman with the hospice who did music therapy, played her the guitar, and sang at her bedside. We found that very soothing and very comforting.

My grandmother is living in the independent living of The Village of East Harbor Senior Living Community. The staff is very nice, they're very accommodating, but unfortunately with COVID, a lot of the things that we were used to participate in like exercise classes, and all kinds of things -- the main building is closed off to those in independent living, because they're not in that building, and they don't want people going in and out, fair enough it's her safety, and I get it -- but she hasn't been able to partake in any of that because of COVID. That means that they are a very caring staff, they offer a lot of programs, they offer exercise classes, and game nights. We're not just at a point right now where we can utilize that. I'm happy with them overall, very happy, except for when I requested information regarding their memory care, I was disappointed to see that her option would be a little tiny room with a bed in a corner. Apparently, that seems to be the case everywhere, it's not unique to them. The staff is very attentive. I'm not a huge fan of their food, I don't think it's amazing quality, so I make all of Grandma's food. It's not inedible, but it's nothing special. They're very clean, they've been remodelling for years, they're always updating stuff, and definitely that's important for them for sure.

My mom was at The Village of East Harbor, she had two different stays. They were more respite care, they were short term while we were out on vacations. It wasn't the facility, but just the way they handled her discharge from there, I wasn't really happy with it. It just wasn't a pleasant experience. The facility was good, it was clean, and the people were nice.

My mother had a bad experience at The Village of East Harbor Senior Living Community. She got impacted and they didn't take care of it. They didn't check to see if she was going to the bathroom or not. When they put her on the toilet, they only left her there for a few minutes, not long enough to go to the bathroom. She was in the rehab center and they wanted to switch her over to the senior living center where they have one aide for 80 people at night. They served chicken almost every single meal. They should have nurses that check on the people and check on the aides to make sure the aides are doing their job right. They had a lot of aides that were way overworked (12 hour shifts). When she was there for rehab, instead of picking her up and letting her sit on the side of the bed, two girls just picked her up and flopped her in a wheelchair. There were a couple of good girls, but there were some really bad ones. The physical appearance was great and it was clean. The people that managed it were nice when they first see you, but after that they're very rude. She got so badly dehydrated while she was there because they did not go over and offer her water. They were not nice at all. I would never put anyone there.

The Village of East Harbor has assisted and non-assisted living, and meal plans are optional. You don't have to buy the unit since it's a monthly fee, and they have an Alzheimer's clinic. I talked to a couple of people who had been there for three or four years, and they totally loved it, which convinced me that my folks would be fine there. There is an opportunity to do plenty of things, and they have shuttles to the grocery store. A Meijer Thrifty Acres is right there. They are very courteous. There are card games, crafts, and trips to different places. They're quite reasonable compared to other places; a single bedroom independent is under $1,500 a month.

When mom was first admitted to the TCU Transitional care unit I was so happy with the special care and attention she received. The nurses and aides as well as the staff members treat her with tenderness and kindness always.

Village of East Harbor was a very nice place. We just talked to a few people to inquire about it, and they were very nice and very helpful. Their grounds were nice; it was beautiful. It is a little pricey.

My grandmother was a resident of East Harbor for many years. She utilized all areas of the facility as she progressed and aged, from independent living through to nursing care before she passed. The facility and its employees are top notch in all aspects of senior living and care. Because of their care, she was able to live her remaining years with dignity and respect. Our family has nothing but respect for the organization and the care she received.

Village of East Harbor was very nice and had friendly staff. The menu looked good, and the dining area was quite nice. It was very personable, and they try to dress it up for different seasons. It was all open, light, airy, and nice.

At East Harbor, they have a large, wonderful nursing staff. It is very good. My dad has been there for a month and a half now. They treat my dad wonderfully and are very caring. There may be one nurse to every four people.

Presbyterian Village East was a beautiful facility. I like this place. It was just more expensive than what we could afford. I did see their menu and it seemed nice. Like other facilities, they also had similar activities.

My mother is at The Village of East Harbor. It's a beautiful facility. It is clean and there is no "nursing home" smell to it. They have a beautiful atrium where residents are free to come and go as they please, indoors or outdoors. It is completely contained. They have a gazebo and a couple of seating areas. They have an aviary with little finches, which the residents seem to enjoy thoroughly. They have a fish tank. They have a resident kitty cat. They have a lot of things for the residents to do. The employees there are all very friendly and seem very proficient at what they do. I've watched them interacting with a lot of different residents there and they seem to do an excellent job. I've also tried tasting their food and it was very good. Their dining area is clean, open and it gives the residents their individual spaces; that was something that is very important to my mom. They have enough room that residents aren't on top of one another. Also they seem to cater to any special requests in the food department. This facility has just exceeded my expectations. My mom is doing good right now there and she seems to be fitting right in.

The Village of East Harbor was a big and a very nice place, though it was kind of expensive. They had one-room units each with a bathroom and a kitchenette but they were not very spacious. However, I liked that they had the rooms all in one level. They had a big walk out porch where you could sit outside. It had a nice atmosphere. I was not able to eat there, but the food looked very nice. They had very nice recreational rooms one was an exercise room. They went on trips. They had a bus service. They had entertainers come in. They had little stores. I would recommend them to others.

Presbyterian Village East is a top-notch assisted living facility. I was a little surprised at how friendly the staff and the residents were when they greeted me. The living quarters are very spacious and lavish. I didn't get to see all of them, as it looks like there are quite a few different kinds on the grounds. I did see that there are isolated little homes for people that might be of high function. This would probably be a great option for someone who is pretty self reliant, yet needs a little bit of help. I think this facility is one of the more aesthetically pleasing of all the places I have been. It's comfortable and it looks like someone has an obsessive love of keeping the place clean and smelling nice, which are two great qualities. I would recommend Presbyterian Village East, I am not sure of the cost, but I think if you can afford it, you would be most comfortable here.

Finding a place for your parents to live is hard emotionally draining and exausting. East Harbour took the time to notice my concerns and adress them. Having my parents at East harbour, has lifted my burden considerable. They are happy. The people that work there are caring and go the extra mile for each resident.

Mom was admitted to the hospital for several days and, upon her discharge, was admitted to East Harbor's skilled nursing residence to rehabilitate. She was there for approximately a week before her Medicare benefits stopped due to a plateau in her progress. (When it became necessary for Mom to remain there a few days after benefits ceased, the charge was $290 per day.) The facility's nursing section is considerably different than their independant and assisted sections. First, there is that disturbing "nursing home smell" that often indicates an inattention to dirty linens, insufficient clean up after incontenence in common areas, etc. The general appearance of this side of the building is old and worn. The dressers are scuffed, the window blinds missing a rib or two, and the curtains around each resident's bed clinical and plain. There usually seemed to be an adequate number of staff, although they were somewhat detached and cool. The lower we got on the hierarchy of employees, the kinder and more attentive they became. The food was good, but the aides assisting residents with eating were stretched thin and often residents sat in wheelchairs for an hour before being attended to with assistance. My biggest concern was the "rehabilitation" end of things. I never saw Mom "walked". Granted, I wasn't there until after 3:00 in the afternoon, but there was neven an indication that the residents did anything but sit in their wheelchairs. Unless I was doing it, Mom wasn't encouraged to eat by herself (she was always left to wait for assistance, and when an assistance came, she was simply fed instead of encouraged to do it herself.) I realize this facility has many residents and that it's difficult to attend to so many at once, but it certainly seemed that they tried to do the expedient thing instead of the thing that would most benefit the resident. Nursing staff administered meds to my mom during meals without bothering to explain to me what was being given unless I asked. Mom never saw a doc while there - only nurses, aides and one therapist for a short period of time - and the one medical event that occured during her stay was addressed by ER docs when she was sent back to the hospital (she had a small anal fissure that the staff at East Harbor led me to believe was much more serious). Don't misunderstand me: This isn't a BAD facility. Your loved one won't be mistreated here. However, if you are looking for warm staff, plenty of direct assistance, and personal care, you may want to look elsewhere.

I can't believe there haven't been reviews of East Harbor yet! It is a wonderful facility. If there's something specific you're looking for in a facility, chances are excellent that you'll find it here. Lodging ranges from independent cottages to assisted living to memory care to nursing care. They received a five-star rating from the state agency and that excellence shows in every aspect. The dining room is beautiful, staff optimistic, friendly, and outgoing, activities varied and stimulating, and the grounds safe. large, and inviting. My only concern (and it is the one that may keep us from bringing Mom here) is the expense. Mom has early-severe stage Alzheimer's and her initial cost to move in would be approximately $5,000 per month. The maximum here is about $6,400. There are, of course, Medicaid beds available if your loved one needs that that level of care, but they are few and typically filled by established residents. Since Mom has no VA, LTCI, or pressing health concerns, we might be looking at years of care and would only be able to afford a short while right now when she needs less care than she will in the near future. If your relative needs a senior living facility and you can afford the cost for excellence, East Harbor is the place to be!
