My mother is in Maples Rehabilitation & Nursing Center and it's been really good for her to be there. Perfect care, just very good staff, and she seems to be well taken care of. From about the five times that I visited there, the people I spoke with were very friendly. They seem to be on top of their game. Everybody seems to be on the same page. I only get there once a week. I haven't been there for many meals. They just bring her food over to her, so it's nothing spectacular. She's in a room with somebody else, so it's got two beds, and nothing super elaborate. It's very clean.

I can't say enough nice things about the Maples. My mom suffers from advanced dementia and was admitted to the Maples during the 2020 COVID lockdown. The staff was kind enough to hold the phone for her so I could facetime her regularly from California. All the workers are incredibly caring and try getting her to participate in activities. The facility is well kept and there are never any "nursing home smells". Although my mom is incontinent now, she is always clean and has freshly laundered clothes. Her meals are high quality and smelling them makes me salivate! Having to place a loved one in a home is agonizing, but at least I feel she is getting top-notch care.

My mother was a patient here for approximately a month prior to her death at the facility. I visited regularly ( at least 2x a week) always trying to come in at different times of the day. She was usually placed in a large crowded day room with other residents. The resident floor is a very different quality from the rehab floors. I visited a few weeks ago before her death at 11:30am . She had bandages on her arms and was still in bed in a patient robe. When I asked why she she was still in bed, her attendant said she” forgot” about her. When asked why the bandages, did she fall , the attendant replied she didnt know”. No one seemed to know. She passed within the week. I dont think they were responsible for her death. I think they just were not responsible.

My mother was here for Rehab and then readmitted for end of life care. The nurses and support staff were caring and attentive. The staff arranged a care team meeting to keep us updated on her progress, which was much appreciated. Her nursing aide went above and beyond to help keep her comfortable during her last days. When she was able to eat she liked the food.

The lady who escorted residents outside so they could visit their family members did not wear her mask over her nose. She would raise it up if another staff member came outside, or the mailman, but lower it as soon as they left. She was sitting much closer to the resident than we, her visitors, were. We were better protected than her. I wonder if she does this all the time, inside and out. She needs a covid test, and contact tracing. She also needs to sit at least 6 feet away from residents, for their safety and to give us at least the illusion of privacy.

Most of the staff was rude and unhelpful. They did not achieve what they are being paid to do. They sent my family member home way too early, only to arrive home and having to call 911 for a infection and a catheter that wasn’t working. Very disappointed in the physical therapy department. Very unfortunate and surprised.

Mom was at Maples for months last year healing from broken hip. The rehab wing was clean and nice. there were a few exceptionally wonderful aides there. Most did not acknowledge or accommodate her blindness at all. She went back after a fall with a broken pelvis and ended up on the dementia ward full of warehoused elderly. We had to provide her own PCA to have her taken care of. She left there worse then she went in. She contracted Facility Acquired Pneumonia while there. Her roomate had a terrible cough. We begged to have her moved to the rehab where the doctor ordered her to be. She was not a priority. We finally got her discharged and she was admitted to hospital in Boston within 24 hours for treatment of pneumonia. She also contracted shingles. Fortunately we were able to have her admitted to a decent rehab further from her home, but much better care. I'd avoid this place unless you are assured a bed in rehab on the one nice wing. Even then be sure to have a visitor every day.

This "rehab" has a great reputation. I agree the rehab wing is clean and there are many great nurses and aides. However, I am deeply saddened to see my grandmother warehoused on a locked dementia ward because, she, for some reason does not have priority to be on the rehab part of the facility, even though she has a broken pelvis and does NOT have dementia. She has great insurance but they keep switching her payor source. She was admitted able to walk with no pain and was discharged, unable to walk in excruciating pain. Her mattress had a big dip in it and was most uncomfortable. In order for her to get adequate care we must pay out of pocket for personal aide to be with her daily. Such a disgrace to a beautiful woman.

I am the daughter of a patient who was just admitted yesterday. I just happened to arrive while the EMTs where wheeling her into her new room, The two EMT's were super friendly and kind. The admission process started right away. As admissions is going over her paperwork the nurse comes in as well with her paperwork and sees admissions was already there. It was apparent this was of real frustration to the nurse because she stormed out and I could see her throw her hands in the air in the hallway. When the nurse came back she brought in my mothers dinner and my coat was on the tray. I could see how irritated the nurse was by the inconvenience of everything so I wanted to see if I could help. Diffuse whatever was ruffling her feathers. Bad move! She started asking questions about her prescriptions and I said she will have a list to give you. The nurse was immediately annoyed by that. So my mother tells me to shut up and the admissions said she will just come back later. The nurse proceeds to ask about a form she signed in the hospital that if you have a heart attack you do not want to go to the hospital. Right? My mother had filled out a DNR two months prior but the way the nurse was wording the question it confused my mother. So I asked when was that paperwork signed? She said very irritated "in the hospital!" I explained she just came from the hospital and has been in a few times so I just wanted to see the date to clarify it was part of her DNR paperwork. She grunts and says "I'll show you" and storms off to get the DNR paperwook. My mother was crying because I need to just shut my mouth. The nurse comes back and says so you need to make sure that you meant to sign this. I see the date and the signature of my sister and say whatever it says there is 110% accurate. I just wanted to be clear it was not something else my mother was not aware of. The nurse is now hammering my mother I need to make sure this is what you want. If you have a heart attack or a stroke you are not going to the hospital correct? My mother says correct. When filling out the DNR it was explained by another hospital that even if she had a heart attack she would be given care so she would not have pain. But, the nurse just said it in such a way that I picturedy mother having a heart attack after I left and Nurse Rachet standing at the door not letting anybody in and pointing to yhe bubble filled in on the DNR. It wasn't a great warm feeling. My mother was so upset with me because of how the nurse was handling herself. But of course my mother doesn't want to acknowledge the nurse because she is extremely tired and sick and just wants to eat and go to sleep. I left feeling terrible. I am in the medical field and understand the inner workings of taking care of people. I'm not saying that Nurse Rachet is all bad but I wish I had not been there when she was there. It's so hard to see my mother dying and be told to shut up by mother when there are things that you just can't ignore. I absolutely love nurses. They take care of my mother! But, that kind of character flaw really has no place in a setting like a rehab facility. All the frustrations with coworkers or management should never ever spill over to how you treat your patients and their families.

"Maples" cared for our Mom for 15 years and did it in an excellent and professional manner. The nursing staff was exceptional and caring right down to our Mom's passing at age 99. The administration was always available and knowledgeable as to Mom's situation. We have nothing but grateful thanks for a job well done. If Mom could not be home, the Maples was the next best place for her to live out her final years with thoughtful care. Certainly a 5 Star from us!

I had hip replacement surgery and several chronic conditions he staff had to deal with on a hourly basis. My stay lasted about a month. The staff encouraged me from the day that things would get better. Why was this encouragement necessary? I didn't have control of my body functions and I was having a pain issue that not responding to the Medes I was taking. This constant calling on the staff was not ignored or resented. They staff and the nurse did their best to help me get a hold on how to help myself. The day nurse worked to help with pain management .The PT and Ot worked with me several times a day to help in getting to be independent and as little pain melds as possible. The family meeting helped find answer to he odd pain problem. The day and night staff were responded to calls,we all have to wait but that I xspcted when staffing in,t one to one ratio. Communication as sometimes a problem.Overall Maples nurses and staff worked to give best care to patients . Thank you for all your help. Alinda

My cousin is doing very well. The care is very good up there at Maples Rehab and Nursing. They're always clean and neat, and for somebody who has to be in a nursing home, she's content up there. She's still young in her brain, but she's had a stroke. She is lonely once in a while, but her care is excellent from what I can tell. I would recommend it to anyone. I only go by what I see and hear and what she tells me. Everybody seems to be caring up there, and I think they really do a lot for their residents. If I were in the same position, I would want to be there. I have been in several others over the course of years, and that one is at the top. They do their best to get to the patients if they have a complaint, as far as I know, and I haven't seen any of the other residents in a kind of condition that would be negative.

My mom fractured her hip in June and she went to Maples for rehab. She didn't really like the place at all. I don't think the people were respectful enough and they don't listen. A couple of times my mother said her phone didn't work and someone said that they can't do anything about that instead of looking at it. She went to another person and she said that something was wrong with the phone and it's still the same thing. So they wouldn't listen. I'm sure it passes down from management. Some of my mother's clothing were missing and she never got them back. They didn't bother to look for them. They just didn't care. She lost so many pieces of clothing there. The PTs and OTs are really really good and as well as the head nurse.
