The Gables at Winchester went above and beyond to provide a wonderful experience for my family. My mother-in-law was a resident here. We looked at 4-5 properties, but finally chose this one. The staff was friendly, the food was good, and there was a physical therapy room where she could receive her much needed PT. Everyone on staff was always kind and attentive, especially toward my mother-in-law; they went out of their way to ensure that she was comfortable and enjoying her time there. Unfortunately, she had some health issues and passed away earlier than expected. The staff members, including the administration, were amazing and supportive of our entire family. They treated my family with respect, and were very good to us during such a difficult time. We more than appreciate the attentiveness that the Gables' staff provided. Their commitment to their clients (whom they treated like family), and the care taken to provide such a consistently positive experience was remarkable. Thank you! Linsey P

We toured The Gables at Winchester. It was large, open, and spacious. It was perhaps not as modern and updated as the others. When it was done, it was very well done. Everything was nice and big. The residents looked happy. There were a lot of them talking to each other, which I liked. I know how it is at that age; there's a lot of snoozing going on. The mood was a little happier in this one. The staff was great. There was a big pool table in the corner of the room when you walk in. My husband spotted that. I wouldn't have even noticed. I probably would have set up lunch there. It wouldn't matter to me, but that made him happy. They had a nice outdoor area where they have parties and serve lunch sometimes, if it's not too hot. It was very spacious. There were rooms upstairs, including a beauty salon. It was a big one. There were people in the salon. I could see the person doing hair, and there was a lot of talking going on there. It felt alive. There was a little extra kitchen area up there for people that wanted a snack any time of the day. The apartment was nice, new, and clean. The bathroom was well set up, and that's important. It had a TV. They provide the linens. They bring in as much care as he needs. They will charge him for it, but it's available. They're not going to say you need a higher level of care somewhere else; they're just going to add the care. That's number one. They also had the physical therapy room with somebody there that can do physical therapy on a daily basis. It was really important to us.

I toured The Gables at Winchester. It's lovely and clean. The person that gave me the tour was very informative. It was a very pleasant experience. I might have reservations about going there because there didn't seem to be a lot of area to walk around outside. I like to walk at any point in my life. The staff was very knowledgeable and very friendly. The rooms were nice. I was disappointed that it didn't have a balcony that you could go outside. I think that my thing biggest concern was the ability to spend time outside if you lived at that facility. It didn't seem like you could walk around outside very far. She gave us some croissants to take home as we left, which was very good. They showed us the dining hall, which was very nice. It's a warm, very clean, and a comfortable environment. They have like a huge living room and huge dining room. They have a movie theater, but there aren't a lot of areas to walk around outside. It's a small piece of property. There were a lot of people sitting outside on benches, but I didn't see anyone walking on paths or walkways. You can have a car there. It's in a good location, and you're close to shopping. It is a nice area to shop. It's a lovely facility. It has elevators, and it's well-maintained. The apartment units were very nice. For me at this time, I wouldn't want to live there for long term at this age. It would be for somebody that's much older. The staff answered all my questions. She was friendly and warm. She took us around and explained everything to us. She couldn't have done a better job.

The Gables at Winchester was beautiful, well maintained, clean, and bright. The people were outstanding and friendly. I loved everything about it. They had all kinds of activities. There were three meals a day, and the food was outstanding. It used to be a hotel years ago. They had a therapy room, exercise, and every amenity you can think of.

The Gables was a nice, quaint place on a waterfront that was close to Sutton and conveniences. I liked its ambiance.

My Mom's lived at the Gables for over a year. She loves it, and it makes me happy to know she has friends, aides and nurses nearby if she needs them. The staff are really great and go above and beyond. The food is good. The people are nice. The facility itself is much nicer than most I visited and the apartments are roomy and bright. I would highly recommend the Gables to anyone looking for an assisted living facility. Residents can be as independent as they want to be, including keeping a car on site. My daughter and I visit frequently and feel like a part of the family. I can't say enough nice things.

I went to the Gables at Winchester to visit somebody. Everybody was crippled and used wheelchairs or walkers; I just feel bad for those people, but I just don’t want to go into there to see nothing but that. I think that would be depressing. It was a very nice place, but I don’t want to open my door and have nothing but wheelchairs waiting outside or walkers. There’s nobody just walking around normally. My friend’s room was very nice, and the structure was fine. The woman that I went to visit from church is the same vision at 65, but she does not want to be there permanently.

Being at the Gables at Winchester was like being on a mini cruise ship. It was very comfortable, and they were very attentive and very clean. I just liked it a lot. The staff members were very professional, very courteous, and very good with calling back; very efficient. Each of the room has its own character as everyone's personality, so it's geared to one's preferences. I have not eaten there, but the menu sounds fantastic; it was very nice. They are very nurturing and I love that. They go to outings in Boston; they just go to all kinds of things that are happening locally.

The Gables was just right off the street from me. It was lovely. The one whom I toured the place with was very nice. The rooms were awesome. They were spacious unlike the others. If I would go anywhere, I would be at The Gables. I would recommend them to others.

My mom is at The Gables at Winchester. The residents are very accommodating and very welcoming. The staff is wonderful, and they are really top-notch. They check up on their residents every night, making sure everything is OK in their apartments. She is in a one-bedroom apartment, and it's a large room. My mother certainly found the right place. My granddaughter, who is 2 years old, loves it there too. She loves eating in the dining room. We had lunch there, and their meals are really good. My mother is on a salt-restricted diet, and they adhere to the specifications made by her physician.

Gables at Winchester was a recommendation from another family. We visited the property and we saw that it was new and extremely clean. We like the staff that we had met. We selected this facility for my dad because of its cleanliness and also because of its staff. He has eaten there and he seemed to be very happy with the quality of the food and the options that they have. They have different selections for the residents with regards to their activities. They have classes, swimming, field trips that the residents can sign up, tours, and museum visits.

I am a resident of the Gables at Winchester for 2 months now. I chose it very quickly, it?s a very pleasant place with lots of trees and flowers. It also faces the sun. The rooms are bright and attractive. I also like the openness of this place. Most people who live here are locals and the staff seemed to be nice. The activities are not very stimulating; they only have music. The food is not what I am used to. Also, the clarity of the charges needs to be improved. However, the place is easy to get used to.

The Gables could improve on the food and their activities. The food is inadequate. They're sadly lacking in activities. I have to suggest ideas for a singing group or gardening group. It's not done by the activities department. I would not suggest to any of my friends that they move here. The staff is exemplary except for the activities people.

I think the facility was really great. The people in the facility were very friendly. My mom's friend told me how the people there always took care of her. She also told me that she has never felt lonely at the facility. Whenever she needs help there is always someone there to help. She has been there for 1 years. She said that she is feeling much better in the facility .When I went to the facility, I was really impressed at how well the people there took care of the people living there. I actually got a chance to talk to a person working there who told me that he enjoys working there. I would love to go there again. I love the way they were so organized and how they cared about the people so much. I would rate them 10 stars if Ii could. After coming home from the facility i realized that there were actually good people in the world who cared about for other.

The Gables is an assisted living facility located in Winchester, MA, which has an above average safety rate. I visit the facility several times a year to check on two residents. I do not work for the Gables. I love this facility. It is built in a country style and has several luxurious facilities that seniors can enjoy. Winchester hospital is located five minutes away so seniors need not worry about where to go to hospital. Residents live in stylish apartments which are well equipped to serve the seniors needs. Staff is available 24 hours to assist the residents. Due to its large size, the facility feels more like an institution. The staff does engage residents in recreation activities. Gables also has a gym and a wellness program. I would recommend Gables to active seniors who want to enjoy their retirement in a luxurious facility.

Located 10 miles outside of Boston, this facility offering independent and assisted living is rather new construction that is being upgraded, with lots of parking available. The setting feels more like you're in the country"”quiet and serene"”and the nearby downtown area of Winchester is gorgeous, with many restaurants and other amenities. The facility itself is luxurious"”with gorgeous buildings and surroundings that include a pond and waterfall, which are pleasing and soothing. The apartments are equipped with eat-in kitchens, although the food served in the common dining room is 5-star. There is 24-hour care"”nurses, LPNs, doctors, dieticians"”and the staff really hustle to please and care for the residents. There is a health club onsite. And there is also a whole calendar of activities offered, including many religious activities. On Sundays, there are jazz brunches for residents and family members. Overall, Gables at Winchester offers a very pleasant environment, so seniors are less likely to get depressed; in fact, most residents seem happy and cheerful. I have a relative there"”and she's happy because of the companionship and activities offered. Another plus: Gables at Winchester allows a trial period of one month; there's no commitment for residents who try it out and find it's not a good fit. This place is a little more pricey than some, but for those who can afford it, it's well worth the cost. It's especially good for someone who is single because of the activities and attention to engaging residents.
