Whitney Place at Northborough is closer to me, so that was just one of the reasons why I chose them. I know the person who is in charge of that place from my work as a Journey Home Singer, and my neighbor works there, so it has a lot of good reviews. My mom is in the assisted living. It's a big adjustment for her because she has lived on her own for 35 years in a glorified trailer. She is not finished with the adjustment, but that's to be expected. It's closer for me to go and check on her. She doesn't use the phone, which is a problem, but I have enough people here that check on her daily. The staff is wonderful. Most of them have been there for a very long time. My mom's room is very small. It's enough to put a recliner in it. My mom sleeps in a recliner. She also puts her feet up on a certain pad. The place is plenty adequate for her. There's a kitchenette and a bathroom, so it's really compact. She is able to walk down to lunch and dinner. For activities, they have bingo and dominoes. She loves to play cribbage, so they are going to see if they could connect her with someone who loves cribbage. She's well taken care of. As for the food, she is not used to a large meal at noon time, so that's something she needs to get used to.

The tour we had with Whitney Place at Northborough was very informative. The staff was extremely friendly and very helpful. It looks like a great place, and that's why we're putting my dad there. We don't really have a room for him yet, but from the tour they looked very nice, clean, and spacious. They keep them very active throughout the day, from painting to drawing, puzzle making, and other crafts. There were quite a few things they do; bingo was also one of them.

We chose Whitney Place Assisted Living and Memory Care for my mother. The staff is knowledgeable, they have become familiar with my mother there, they have a sense of humor, they focus on what's important, and they're very communicative. They did ask me what my mother would eat so that they could accommodate her, and she said the food is fine.

Whitney Place at Northborough had a nice courtyard and 14 rooms to a floor. It was very intimate. They served homemade food every day. However, the price was too high, and they would not work with you after your funds run out. They expect you to have enough money to cover at least three full years out of pocket.

Whitney Place was really nice -- very homey and very clean. Not a gigantic place, but it has everything you could want. The people that showed us around were very nice, and it was a great, fun day.

My mother is in their Tapestry Program (memory care). She is very well cared for and they have been able to get her involved in activities that she wouldn't do before moving to this program. Her doctors have noticed a marked positive difference in her. She is always happy when we /family go to visit. This should have been the first facility we checked out.
