Brookhaven is a lovely community and the staff is wonderful. The administration is negligent though. The elevator nearest my mother's apartment has been broken for OVER A YEAR and the CEO of Brookhaven demonstrates a complete lack of urgency regarding this issue. If an elevator is left unrepaired for over a year, I have to wonder what other maintenance is being ignored. This saddens me because in most ways, this place has been great for my Mom but I don't think an 87 year old should have to climb up and down stairs anymore.
Looking for my Parents

My Parents are searching for a living community to move into. This is a big move, filled with emotions and challenges. The experience with Brookhaven has been horrible for my parents. Here is why: 1) They do not return phone calls 2) They don't coordinate between their finance office and the sales office. My parents sent in their paperwork as directed to the finance office and the sales office has not been notified in over 1 1/2 weeks. 3) My parents are moving to Massachusetts from out of state and Brookhaven will NOT allow me, as their child, to visit on their behalf and facetime with my parents. In fact, they had no idea what Face time is! 4) they have not been kind to my aging parents. They have made it difficult for them to get information, move things forward or get answers to any questions. 5) all of the other residences my parents have spoken with have been responsive and sensitive to the situation. 6) I have a very good friend and her parents lived here and where happy. I am very sorry that I every suggested my parents call and explore this as a possibility. It has been nothing but frustrating and if this is how they deal with aging adults, I do not want my parents living there.

Brookhaven at Lexington is very nice and the best place among all that I have visited. They had movies, lectures, a small library, and two or three dining areas.

My visit at Brookhaven was very good. The staff was good, and a friend of mine used to live there. Their food was very good, the room was very nice, and they have a lot of events and things going on there. The whole thing was fine; I have no trouble with Brookhaven, only the money.

Brookhaven at Lexington just has a better health program in that the facilities are right there, so you don't have to leave and go some place else. I also visited people there on my own and ate with them and the food was very good. This facility is also close to me in terms of my network of activities but not necessarily where I live now. But because it's very expensive, I'm not going to rate them the highest.

The facility was really nice. It cost a lot, but it was truly worth it. My grandma loved how independent you could be while still living in a nursing home. There were 3 levels of it and she was in the first, the most independent one. She made flowers, and did a lot of things she enjoyed. She also gardened and was able to decorate her room openly. All the staff members knew her name and really liked her and she liked them. The food was spectacular with a free room and a room in which you could go to take your relatives and pay for; it was much classier. The facility was in a great town and had many options to take your relatives to in order to relax. The building was always clean and I really enjoyed visiting it. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

This facility mostly provides assisted living for seniors who also need some type of additional care; most residents seem to have some limitations, from mild to more serious. When you walk in, there's a huge foyer with attractive rugs; the whole place has sort of a southwestern feel. But there's an immediate drawback: When visitors walk in, there is no one at the front to meet and greet them; the main desk takes a while to find. The buildings are nice and well maintained. There are trees and green grass on the grounds"”along with a gazebo and chairs, but residents don't seem to find it very inviting to sit around. There are a number of different housing configurations available, from studios to three bedroom units. The food gets a B minus. There is no organic food and not many choices are offered each day. There are a lot of wellness programs available on site, and also a heated indoor pool and whirlpool along with trainers for exercise. While there is 24-hour nursing care, you often have to push for more help, and the place seems a bit short-staffed. However, those on duty do seem genuinely concerned about the residents, including their emotional health. Brookhaven may be great for people who need some nursing care, but not such a good fit for those who are more independent.
