March 19, 2020
My 76 year old mother admitted to Hellenic Nursing and Rehahilitation Center of Canton Mass in March 11, 2020. Thank God!!!! Only there for a week. My mom transferred to Norwood Hospital on the 17th allegedly with a low-grade temp. Informed Director of Nursing concerned about Coronavirus and asked the Unit C Nurse on duty to get her to Norwood Hospital. Understandable. Informed by ER nurse my mother's temp normal. Asked if skilled-nursing facility gave my mom any medication before ER arrival. ER nurse reports my mom's G-Tube partially blocked due to residual formula in the G-Tube. Not good!!! Can cause an infection. Mom now has "Oral Thrush" ( fungal infection of the mouth) due to poor oral hygiene. Apparently Nurses and CNAs on Unit C compromised my mom's health in a week's time. Grateful Director of Nursing sent my mom to Norwood ER. Unable to visit my mom for a week due to Public Health guideline due to Coronavirus. Therefore unable to see the unit, care provided by the staff or should I say "lack of care" from the staff. I suspected care for my mom lacking when nurses of Unit C sounds annoyed by my daily check-in calls. Unit C phone would ring almost for thirty minutes before someone answered. My mom is currently hospitalized, on antibiotics and on the road to recovery. When Medically Stable she will be admitted another skilled nursing facility where staff is caring, capable and know how to care for the vulnerable population with end stage dementia. Scary out there. Follow your gut instinct if the place makes you anxious and not sure of the staff. Called Hellentic Nursing the next day to retrieve my mom's belongs ( missing two house-coats) and Director of Nursing did ask why my mom will not return. I informed her of the reasons above. No apologies. No concern in her voice. Just annoyed by my report of the incompetence of her staff. Buyer be ware!!!!

My mother was admitted to Hellenic Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on August 8, 2019 for “Comfort Care”. They gave her morphine, but only if we chased after then. We asked them to check on her and give her water. They looked at us like we were crazy and rolled their eyes. They were supposed to apply Miconazole Nitrate to her groin and under her breasts. They didn’t even have the medication and used hand cream. The never did skin prep to her heels. These things were all spelled out in her Treatment Plan. I stayed over and slept on the floor one night to see if they checked on her. The only time they came in was to change her diaper. At this point, I called Hospice and arranged for her to come to my house. On the day she was supposed to arrive, she passed away at the nursing home. She died within 3 days of being there.

The care at Hellenic Nursing & Rehabilitation Center is excellent. People are very kind and I see that they handle each situation very well. I am pleased with the services they provided to my husband. The food is incredible and there are some renovations going on the physical facility.
