Dad is at Standish Village. We like the atmosphere and the location of it. The rooms are very nice. The staff is very friendly. The facility seems very clean. There are only two bicycles in there though. So, there could be more fitness equipment. It would be nice if there was a treadmill or some other things, like a lot more classes/more alternative or holistic classes. The outside grounds could be a little bit nicer, too. They let us meet with the chefs to get specific feedback about what our dad's needs are. I just feel like for the money, there should be more food options.

My husband was a resident at Standish Village. We started as a respite stay, but he ended up staying a little longer. I found them very caring, attentive, and professional. It was clean. It was well-maintained, and the facilities were easily accessible. The activities varied every day, it felt like a cruise ship. Each day they would publish five to eight different things that were going on each day, inside and outside in the courtyard. They had a theme for every month, and they did a lot of things around that theme each month. The activities director, Lauren, worked very hard to bring in people and programs from outside of the area just based on her contacts, and it was very helpful to the residents. My husband has a studio. They had a variety of, and I was looking for a studio. They showed me three or four and I selected one. Its location is in a very vibrant community. The staff was very attentive, professional, and they were good. The food is not gourmet, but it's very good. The only reason why I'm rating them a four is because they were very expensive.

My aunt has moved into Standish Village. It's easy for me to get there, so I settled on them. Overall, we are happy with it. It is a beautiful, clean place. The staff is good and seasoned. There were some communication issues with getting my aunt in there, including getting settled, and deciding how much the monthly fees would be. On the financial side, it's very frustrating for me; however, on the physical care side -- the facilities, the cleanliness, and the staff -- we're very happy with the community.

I visited Standish Village. It was very high class and very nice. They had a memory unit for Alzheimer’s, not skilled nursing, along with the regular assisted living. The place was beautiful and had convenient parking. I didn’t see much of the residents, but when we were coming out, they were having a concert.

Standish Village is a much smaller facility, but they were very caring people. Their living areas and dining room were much smaller. The good part is that they have a visiting nurse on site from a different agency, and they have religious services that come in. They have counseling services for people with substance abuse problems that come in; I thought that was good.

My mom has lived here for the past 3 years and I can say that it has been a really good place for her. The staff encourage a friendly environment, so that the staff and residents all talk and smile. Meals are seated with the same people in order to forge relationships over the long term. These things are especially helpful for my mom who is quiet and as she ages, is becoming even quieter. If you have a relative who is disabled and can't talk well, you will find that this environment helps people to feel socially connected even if they can't talk like they used to. Whenever I go there, the residents and staff all tell me how my mom is doing. I have considered moving my mother closer to me, however, the places that we have visited have not been as warm and welcoming. The food is decent quality, although so-so in flavor. I've sampled better and I've sampled worse at other assisted living. The activities are posted daily and the number of activities is on the high-average side. Many programs are very high quality, such as having guest speakers and musicians and chair yoga. Most of the activities, the residents are passive recipients. This facility doesn't have a lot of activities where the residents are planners and contributers to the activity (like producing and acting in theater, committees that plan holiday celebrations) which some of the more innovative facilities offer. The residents can garden which is one activity that engages their minds as well as their bodies.

My brother chose Standish village and moved in last week. He loves the area, he's adapting and doing well for the moment but I will know more in a couple of weeks.

I toured this community in June of this year. When I walked in the door I was hit directly in the face with a wonderful smile from the concierge at the front desk. This started a great experience for me from this point forward. The Executive Director came into the lobby and smiled and shook my hand and offered me something to drink or eat. I had already enjoyed some of the infused water available at the front desk. Listening to the wonderful music in the background took me back to yesteryear - and I knew this was going to be a great experience for my father. The Executive Director sat down and listened intently as I described both my current and desired situation (in fact, he actually asked that question!) for my dad. My dad was living at home with me, and I knew I couldn't do it any longer. I had toured 5 other places, and this was the first one that was able to give me the feeling that they could do better than I was for my dad. Their Memory Diet, affiliation with a wonderful academic institution like BU, and work with Alzheimer's Disease and other types of memory disorders was phenomenal - it was hands down the best place I have seen. I plan on returning in August to move my dad into this wonderful place.
