Parkview at Furnace Branch is an independent living community. I've been a resident for a while. For the women it's got bingo, pinochle nights, and a hairdresser comes in on Saturdays. It's got a good-sized parking lot and the people are friendly. There are about 75% women and the rest are elderly men. No one bothers me and I don't bother them, it's very quiet here. The building is well-maintained. You have your own heat and air-conditioning. You control it from the inside, but you pay for it. It's a heat pump built into the unit. And my electric average is about $30 to $35 a month that includes lights, refrigerator, stove, and oven. I pay for my own hot water while they supply cold water. The staff is friendly and easy to get along with. I now only have a part-time cleaning person that vacuum the hallways, wipe down the hallways. The maintenance is right on top of things. If anything wrong all you have to do is drop them a phone call, and if it's an emergency you write it on a slip of paper and give to the office. They've got a nice day room, a computer room, a small library, washer and dryer on the premises and they have a laundry room. They also have an exercise room with a whole new equipment this year. There's a community room, where they have Christmas party and things like that like on Labor Day. They also have people who come in to cut the grass every week, and they plant flowers every spring and fall. If it snows, they're right out there getting the snow out of the way. In terms of security, the only way to get in if you have one of those swipes. And there are security cameras that cover the parking lot and hallways.
