My father is a resident of Lorien Columbia. They had more rehab days. They seem to encourage him more and he spends more time with them. The staff were good, and they contact me also. They were under construction, and they still look pretty good.

Lorien Health Services We’ve encountered so many problems in this place. Here are just a few: 1) Food is awful. My mother, who is a vegetarian, asked for a vegetarian menu. The menu lists many meal options. Yet she has been served the same meal (over and over and over) - a dried out black bean burger. 2) Some (not all) of the aides have been condensing and impatient with my mom, which is demoralizing to her and her family. 3) There is no written schedule for physical therapy or occupational therapy. It’s impossible to know when the PTs and OTs are going to show up. My mom has not had PT for 5 days straight and there is no excuse for that. 4) My mom did not receive a shower for 5 days straight and now only receives a shower 2 times per week. 5) When we push the button for an aide or a nurse, it usually takes at least 30 minutes or more for anyone to arrive. There are some caring, nice and sweet staff. For example, Kena has been kind and responsive. But overall, this place is not good.

Care is minimal, staff training and civility is minimal. Staff begrudge any use of their time You wait in dirty linens for hours for assistance. All care is substandard. Avoid this place, your condition will be worsened by their neglect

Lorien Columbia Nursing Homes was very clean. They have activities for the seniors like bingo, painting, and drawing. There's a little store where they can buy snacks, a barber shop, and a salon. The staff is really nice. They keep you up-to-date on what's going on or if there's any issue. For COVID, they have a link where you can schedule your visit. I just love the way they're handling things. My mother liked the food at first, but she has dementia so she goes back and forth anyway. The way it's setup with COVID is if it's nice outside, you can go outside on their patio; they have shaded areas. You can also go into their little activity room. If you're vaccinated, you can take your mask off outside, but inside you have to wear them. It's extremely clean.

Your family will go to LTC once their Medicare days run out and the level of care and communication gets worse. In LTC, my family member didn’t get her showers, we’re intimidated by staff, forced to wear other people’s clothes, and food was taken away from her. When we complained, she was treated worse. Be Very afraid if you value the care of your family. They will not be treated with dignity and respect here. 7/4/2021

My mom was in Lorien Rehab Center for post infection where she had to get IV antibiotic. Even after getting an order from surgeon to remove her post op staples and sutures which has been there more than 2 week, they forgot to remove them for 3 days. Nurse staffs did not even check her wound. Until I came in and make an complain then they realized they forgot. Also I requested to speak a nurse practitioner 6 days ago, they never came to see me when I was there and promised that she’ll call me back but she never did. I am a family nurse practitioner myself and her care was unacceptable. They need to work on better communication and better nursing care. Need to better job.

If you truly love your elder... don't not put them here. Horrible facility; they some of their patients leave their wing and get stuck in the fire escape. Nurses even fighting in front of their patients.

I was at Lorien Columbia for a short time. I was there for rehab, physical, and occupational therapy. The food was marginal; it was not as good as the food from the other facility. The activities were in the building. Physical and occupational therapy was excellent. The room was laid out just like a typical hospital room. There were two beds and I was the only one in the room. It had a private bath. There was not much in the way of decoration, but it was clean. What I like best was the therapy staff.

Stay away from rehab. The place is filthy. The food is not edible. The attitude is uncaring and unprofessinal. You can't ask for anything without the cold shoulder attitude that develops between patient and/or patient advocate and nursing and/or any one that works the floor desk. Its truly pathetic and sad. Lorien administration should be ashamed . This place does not derve a rating on the health care side. The physical therapy side passes with flying colors.

The place smelled like urine all day. The food was always cold when she would finally receive it. She wasn't turned as often as her doctor recommended. Most of the staff were pleasant. There weren't many activities for the residents to do during the day other than to stay in their rooms and watch t.v. or to watch it in a common area. I never saw them even roll her in a wheelchair outside, which they were capable of doing. The place was kept relatively clean but I the room individual were the pits. There were used glove left in open trash cans with feces one them. Soiled linen wasn't always put into closed bags. They were often left on the floor until the next day or until a family member took them home to wash.

Physical therapists are great but that is the ONLY good point on this place. Extreme staff shortage, most nursing aides are uncaring and rude. Patient rooms are virtually never cleaned...floors are filthy, bathrooms smell and not cleaned. Speaking to administration and supervisors doesn't change a thing. Takes a long time get a staff member when call button pressed. Not a place you want to go for rehabilitation which is what my family member was there for. This place has serious issues.

I've witness many things, right and wrong, while visiting my aunt at this nursing home. The food there smells horrible. Half of the time you tell what it is without reading the receipt. I don't know what it taste like, but my aunt says it doesn't taste very good. The staff there is pretty accommodating. They answer the call lights pretty quickly, bring the food as soon as its brought up from the kitchen, and they try to comply with each residence needs to the best of their ability. The majority of them are pleasant to be around. The facility is relatively clean and neat. One thing I didn't understand was why the CNAs were cleaning the rooms yet they still had janitors on the floor. Another nice thing was that as you enter the facility, they have a cafe for anyone who would like something to eat, drink, or snack on while visiting someone there.
