Life Enrichment Programming The Oak Park Village Life Enrichment program boasts many activities and local outings that give our residents a purpose every day. We incorporate daily spiritual, social, physical, and intellectual activities. Our activities director spends time getting to know residents. She meets with new residents to find out what their interests are and what they enjoy doing most. Monthly events may vary based on residents interests and participation. In addition to regularly scheduled activities such as church services and Bible study, trips to local shopping and events, we offer educational talks and presentations. Presentations include discussions on health and nutrition, veterans Aid & Attendance, and more. Programming at Oak Park Village inspires residents to lead fulfilling and active lives. Dining Program Join us for three meals a day, plus snacks! The dining experience is a great way to meet with friends and enjoy our friendly staff. Each meal is made from scratch and served in our dining room. We have restaurant-style service with a daily chefs choice for meals, or residents may order off the alternative menu. Meals change every day, and we are very accommodating to residents tastes, preferences, and food allergies. Assisted Living At Oak Park Village at Slidell, our focus is supporting our residents independence and overall wellness. The care that each resident receives at Oak Park Village is unique to his or her needs. Each residents activities of daily living (ADLs), such as dressing, bathing, and hygiene, are assessed upon move-in and regularly throughout their stay. We work with the resident, family members, and health practitioners to create the right plan of care for each person. Care-related services include, but are not limited to: Care staff, including a licensed nurse, at facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week Personal care assistance with activities of daily living Third-Party Medication assistance and administration Mobility assistance -Continence maintenance Visits from outside physician On-site visits from the dentist, podiatrist, home health, and more Learn more about the benefits of assisted living. Memory Care Neighborhood Along the Journey is Priority Life Cares memory care programming. The Along the Journey program was created for our seniors with memory impairments. I liked Oak Park Village at Slidell better. It was more average. They had fewer rooms. The building was smaller. It was more personable. So, it's like everything was kind of almost on one floor. It seemed lower to middle class, and that was something more of what I was looking for. I didn't see anything that was gross or dirty. It didn't have a smell. The facility was all good. They have a little back patio area. They had a lot of space inside like sitting areas/chair areas for the elderly who weren't that mobile, but the seniors were mostly independent there so it didn't look like a lot of their residents were going to be outside. It was pet-friendly so there was a walking path for their pets.

Oak Park Village at Slidell was nice. They showed me the place thoroughly. There was a room there that was vacant, and they gave me a look at that as an example. It was a one-bedroom. The staff was nice. They're very pleasant people. There was a room where they had activities.

Oak Park Village at Slidell was very homey. Outside the doors were decorated and it was like it had a front porch. So it felt like you were going down a road more so than just going down a hallway. The people that live there seemed to be very happy and participated in things that the home did. The rooms were nice sized. My mother-in-law would be able to get the things that she wanted in there. And the fact that it was smaller my mother-in-law felt like she would be able to get around better even if she went with her walker. The staff who toured us was wonderful. It felt like everybody had made it a home. It was very comfortable and very clean. My mother-in-law loves Scrabble and cards, and they seem to have groups that do that all the time. They want to make sure they're happy that they get to do the things they want to do, so they work with other people to find people who play the same card game.

I went to the Oak Park Village at Slidell. The people working there were nice. However, the rooms were extremely small. It was a very small facility. It looked nice, but it just didn't fit my dad. It was not good. I didn't get to see a lot of the amenities, because they didn't show us a lot. It looked clean. We were looking at that facility, we were in that area, and we didn't get to go to the one in Hammond. It's near a hospital and restaurants.
