June 2012 makes 6 years that I have resided at Live Oak Village of Slidell. I am 93 years young. It was my decision to live here. I had the opportunity to live with my daughter, but I prefer my independence. Live Oaks allows me to have my own independence. My family is happy I am here. They know I am being taken care of. The chef is very conscientious of the specialized diet I require. My room is always kept clean and I appreciate the fact that my laundry is washed for me. I am happy to be here and happy with everyone here; particularly the staff. The staff appears to always be happy and in a good mood each day. I enjoy all the activities and participate in as many as I am able. Though I am mostly independent, if an occasion arises where I need assistance, I simply push my call button and a care manager comes right away to assist me. I love my life here.

I went to Oak Park Village at Slidell. It was nice. It was an older building. At the time we went, they had COVID, so everybody was in their rooms, so there was no activity. The staff just gave us a quick run through the building. But we didn't see anybody or talk to anybody about how they liked it because they were all in their rooms. She was very nice. I'm not sure if they showed an apartment. I don't even remember because I was not impressed at all with the building. It was old. When you walk in, it's real cute, but when you get back in the room it's just kind of depressing. So I wasn't impressed. I was just ready to leave throughout the tour.

Oak Park Village at Slidell was nice. They showed me the place thoroughly. There was a room there that was vacant, and they gave me a look at that as an example. It was a one-bedroom. The staff was nice. They're very pleasant people. There was a room where they had activities.

I went to Oak Park Village at Slidell. It was a nice facility and well-kept. The staff was really nice. The girl who gave me the tour was very helpful and informative. It's just that one was out of our budget. The dining area was nice. They had lots and lots of tables with nice placemats, and large settings and all that. The outside of the building was very nice and well-kept. The grounds were nice. The courtyards and the fountains were well-kept. There was a beauty salon. They offer transportation to and from doctors' appointments, to and from grocery stores, game nights, and events.

Oak Park Village at Slidell was very homey. Outside the doors were decorated and it was like it had a front porch. So it felt like you were going down a road more so than just going down a hallway. The people that live there seemed to be very happy and participated in things that the home did. The rooms were nice sized. My mother-in-law would be able to get the things that she wanted in there. And the fact that it was smaller my mother-in-law felt like she would be able to get around better even if she went with her walker. The staff who toured us was wonderful. It felt like everybody had made it a home. It was very comfortable and very clean. My mother-in-law loves Scrabble and cards, and they seem to have groups that do that all the time. They want to make sure they're happy that they get to do the things they want to do, so they work with other people to find people who play the same card game.

I liked the open floor plan at Oak Park Village at Slidell and its pretty buildings. The staff seemed very nice and helpful. The place was very nice, colorful, well-kept, and clean. There was a courtyard, and they would provide services to doctors in the Slidell area. The staff who gave me the tour was very good. He was very talkative, informative, polite, kind, and patient.

We went to Oak Park Village at Slidell. They were doing some activities with the residents. They were playing bingo. The facility was good. It wasn't a raggedy place. It was nice, neat, orderly, and clean. The staff seemed pretty nice. I didn't interact that much with anybody except the guy that was giving me the tour. It seemed like a pretty nice place.

My mom will be moving into Oak Park Village at Slidell. It's a smaller facility, and she liked it because it had a more family-oriented type of feel to it. The rooms were nice and spacious. It looks like there's going to be a lot that she's going to be able to do. They have a calendar of activities. I've only met with the director, and he was very friendly and nice.

The staff at Oak Park Village at Slidell is excellent. It's clean. The people appeared to be happy. They do activities like concerts, crafts, bingo every day, and all kinds of decorating. They have a pajama day. They do everything they can to keep them occupied. It's very nice. The people that work there are very nice and very cooperative. I did not see memory care. I only toured the assisted living.

I went to the Oak Park Village at Slidell. The people working there were nice. However, the rooms were extremely small. It was a very small facility. It looked nice, but it just didn't fit my dad. It was not good. I didn't get to see a lot of the amenities, because they didn't show us a lot. It looked clean. We were looking at that facility, we were in that area, and we didn't get to go to the one in Hammond. It's near a hospital and restaurants.

My grandmother stayed at OakPark Village at Slidell, but she did not care for it. She was never happy, and she was ready to move out of there. The staff could have been friendlier. She did not care for the food; it was mediocre. Some of the staff members were nice, and some were interacting with the residents. The place was clean.

This facility presents itself very nicely. The staff is very personable, however, this really is not the place if your relative/friend needs more advanced care. My mother was in the ‘memory care’ section: it was a very bad situation that could have had an extremely serious (potentially fatal) outcome for her. I was quite disappointed in the quality of nursing care and in the nurses themselves. I’m sure this facility is fine for many people. For my mother, unfortunately, it proved to be a very very poor choice and decision. I am grateful things were not worse than they were when I removed her from there.

My tour at Live Oak was wonderful. The rooms have their own little courts, even on the inside. They have their own courts to decorate their lawn furniture, and it's so cute. The have a library and a physical therapy room, and they're allowed to get out and walk.

Live Oak Village of Slidell's rooms weren't as big. It was a smaller home, and it was very nice. I thought the staff was very nice, and I know 2 other people there; they are very pleased with it. I wasn't able to try the food, but I understand it's very good.

Live Oak was very light in color, airy, and they give it a good feel on the inside. The hallways weren't just straight hallways, the entrance doors for each rooms was recessed in a little bit; you can barely see the doors. We spoke to the manager of the kitchen staff and she is very nice. They had nice activities, the room was nice, and it was a walking distance to the church -- and that was convenient -- and they had an interior courtyard and buses and vans that bring people where they need to go.

It is my choice to place my husband at Live Oak Village of Slidell mainly because they are the only one that will provide transportation to dialysis. It is cheerful, clean and well-kept facility. The staff is very helpful and you cannot ask for a better service. The room is a studio type and large enough for my husband and they always repaint the room after everybody moves out.

My dad, G. DeMen lived in the facility for four years until his death in October 2011. When we researched this area for places for Dad to live, he was with me and he chose Live Oak Village. The week of his death, he asked me to let everyone know how much he appreciated the excellent care, the love, the concern and the respect he was always shown. As his daughter, I appreciate everything they did during his final days but most appreciate how much he enjoyed the last four years of his life. He went on every outing, he attended every gathering and function and there were so many of them all the time. He laughed, he played, he enjoyed all that Live Oak offered him. In his words, my dad said, "Living here is a blessing and I thank God for this blessing". It was a blessing for me to see my dad this content, this happy in his final years. Thank you Live Oak!!!!
