Vista Shores is a private luxury assisted living and memory care community built on the site of the legendary Vista Shores Country Club overlooking Bayou St. John. Every detail is attended to so our residents can relax, knowing someone is always close by if they need help. Our scenic Vista Shores senior living community has three distinctive "neighborhoods" occupied by residents with shared abilities in order to provide optimum socialization and personalized care. Private one and two-bedroom apartments are available within each neighborhood, while our third floor is reserved exclusively for our Alzheimer's and dementia care residents. Additional levels of support are provided based upon the particular needs of each resident. Residents who require minimal assistance with day-to-day living can enjoy a feeling of independence akin to living at home, without the chores and stress of managing a household. Residents with memory impairment are provided with higher levels of care and security through individualized programs that enrich their lives and enable them to function at the highest possible level.
Some of our residents simply seek the safety, security, and social opportunities that assisted living provides, while others need help with day-to-day activities such as bathing, dressing, and medication administration. Just like every house in a neighborhood is unique, so is every resident, which is why we take a personal approach to everything we offer, from customized activities to individual health and wellness programs to the choices we offer at every meal.

Memory Care
We are proud to offer one of the finest specially staffed Alzheimer's and dementia care programs in the region. Our third floor is reserved exclusively for our memory care residents. Our team is highly trained in the care of those with Alzheimer's and dementia, and our individualized programs are custom-designed to enrich each resident's life and enable them to function at the highest possible level. It was beautiful. It was nicer than our current home. I don't think that you could ask for more in a facility and all the people there were very kind. The staff during the tour was very kind, very understanding, and she took her time. I didn't feel rushed at all. I didn't see the exact rooms. I saw the public facilities, like where they do the activities and where they serve meals and all of that. We went down the residential hall, but I don't remember seeing an actual room. I saw a library, a therapy room where they do physical therapy, an area where they let the residents give parties and have social events, and a little reading room.

We had a productive visit. The facility itself was nice. The staff was very helpful, very knowledgeable, and the layout was good. It is a converted country club, so it has a lot of amenity rooms in it. There were a lot of gathering rooms and a lot of activities.

It is nice, newer, and larger than the other places I visited. I would rate the campus better than most of the others.

My visit was good. One of the things we liked was that you could eat whenever you wanted in the dining area and did not have to come down at a certain time. They were more flexible with the eating schedule. The facility was very comparable to the other one I visited. The staff was good. They had a lesser level of nursing care; one of the questions we asked was if they had anybody who could drain a catheter bag for someone, and they said they didn't have anyone who would do that. They had an activities room and activities schedule with exercise classes and social activities that you could participate in.

My mom moved here, and it fits the best for our needs. They have different activities like bingo, movies, and happy hours. Their amenities are top-notch.

We looked at a couple of facilities and here was a lot nicer. It seems to have more activities. It was more like a hotel setting, and not like the other places we saw that just looked like dreary hospitals, and my mother is still very active. She just has dementia, so she wanted to be around people. She wanted to have activities and this place met her needs. The staff is wonderful. They are very friendly, very helpful, and very upbeat whenever we are there. The food is wonderful, it's restaurant style meals. They have a chef from a hotel restaurant that is very popular in New Orleans. He cooks restaurant style meals everyday with a beautiful presentation. They can even come from 7am to 7 in the evening. They have one meal a day, which is lunch, and that would be something special. I tasted it myself, and it was fabulous. They have really good meals, lots of fish, and it is presented in a very appealing way. It looks nice, and not like a cafeteria. Her room is beautiful and spotlessly clean. They do housekeeping and laundry once a week. They decorated it the way that she wanted, it is very roomy, and it is just very nice. It looks like a hotel in the hallways. And, there is a dementia care on the third floor that she could move into if she gets worse, so she would not have to leave that facility.

I have already selected a place. Mother has been at here for about 3 months. I chose it because of location. They have happy hour, movies, bridge, bingo, entertainment. The food is very good. The staff is very knowledgeable. I think they're all great. They all do a very good job. She's doing fine.

I did visit this community after reading the review and didn't get that impression of the community. I do like the fact that the residents were very friendly amongst each other and the staff was delightful! Lunch was great....still looking for my in-laws; but they are in our top 3 picks....to each its own!
