My grandmother has experienced both independent and dependent living. It is definitely a transition going from living on your own in your home to living in an assisted living space then to dependent but the staff and family support really helps! There is a lot to do and the apartments are really beautiful. While there are differences in the units that are dependent vs the ones that are independent, I was surprised to see how similar they are and how much space there is. Outside of no longer having a stove or dishwasher, the units are very similar to a standard apartment. There is a communal activity room that has a larger kitchen where residents can do cooking classes, as well as really good food available in the dining room or delivered to your room. Staff also will help with cleaning any dishes you may have made during the day. While no one wants to lose their independence, dependent living at Lambeth feels like a good combination of having your independence with extra hands!

Lambeth House is a large place, but it looks like they have enough staff to assist. It's really huge because they have three big sections, and it's like a three or four story building. It's a huge place. I visited a friend there a few times. One time I ate lunch with her, and the food was excellent. She always talked about the food being so good, and the food there was really good. It was very, very nice. The staff were very concerned about security. COVID was so rampant at that time that they were being very careful, checking to make sure you're not running a fever. They also made sure who you are, and they wanted to see your I.D. I noticed they were very security conscious. I passed through there a few times where they were having games. They had like a little movie theater they could go in and see stuff on the big screen TV.

The tour I had of Lambeth House was lovely. They have very nice grounds and very nice units. They have an excellent dining facility. They are in an uptown area of New Orleans, so the grounds are not very large, but they have lots of parking, and they're close to shopping centers. They have a very caring staff. They provide a lifetime of security in that the initial fee would cover both me and my wife if I had to move into nursing care or memory care. My wife would be able to continue in our initial unit, and there would be no additional expense, so that's a big help on financial security. However, it requires a fairly large frontend membership fee that varies with the size of the unit. The food that I had at lunch was excellent. When it comes to the type of people in the membership, there are several retired Tulane faculties, and also fairly well-to-do membership. They've got excellent medical care. It's an excellent choice for anyone who would enjoy being in a large city with easy access to the symphony, and the opera, and the ballet, and various other tours that Lambeth House provides. It has excellent access to shopping. The one thing I respect Lambeth House for is, for some people who joined and were there for years and then ran short of funds, they had some scholarship help available, which I think is very reassuring. It is a nonprofit, but they charge a fee if you want to move up from one unit to another, so the person should be careful to select a unit of the right size. Some of the units have beautiful views of the river, all the boats, shipping, and tugboats. It's only about two blocks from Audubon Park and Audubon Zoo. It's wonderful to go for walks in the park. The zoo does have motorized carts that people can rent very reasonably to tour one of the best zoos in the country. They have a wonderful new elephant area. Lambeth House has beautiful plantings and some gardening areas available. All the staff I've interacted with have been excellent.

The cost is outrageous and not worth it. One of the marketers walked around in circles watering plants the entire time that we visited, not to mention how many times she walked in on our meeting without even having the decency to knock on the door. We have friends that are currently living in Independent Living, and according to members of their resident board, there are several problems with the administration, mice in apartments, and a large number of building issues that cause apartment leaks even in the nursing unit. After they move them in and take their $800000, their CEO conveniently has them "shipped off" to Assisted Living, unless you are a VIP. The staff on the second floor nursing unit lets their patients scream out in their rooms without checking in on them at all. It really is so sad.

I visited Lambeth House after encouraged by some friends. I have may friends in Independent and some in Assisted. From the front desk receptionist being rude and too busy flirting with the guys behind the desk, I should have realized how awful it was. I had lunch with friends, and they told me how the CEO moves you to Assisted Living right after he feats that check for $800.000 for an entrance fee. Unless you are one of his VIPS, do not bother to ask for a thing. A marketer named "T", was walking around in a daze watering plants the entire time, and "C" rushed us straight through. There are major structural issues with leaks in all of the apartments and mice on the first floor. If you want to kill your loved one put them in Nursing.

If had the money, and I was ready to go somewhere, Lambeth House Retirement Community would be the place I would go to. They had activities all day long, and the food was very good. It was lovely. Everything was modern. The bathrooms were nicely equipped for people who need assistance. They also had washers and dryers in the apartment. It was very convenient.

Lambeth House was one I really couldn't afford it but I thought it was fantastic. It’s a beautiful facility. You have the river or downtown Audubon Park or the Mississippi River and depending upon where you're located, there's an excellent view of downtown New Orleans. It was just from the standpoint of economics. Mom wasn't ready to extend that much money because you have your monthly rental but you buy-in to the facility. The entry fee was probably about $350,000 and then the rent for the apartment was probably in the neighborhood of about $2,000 to $3,000 a month. What's also nice about it is the financial arrangements that they made. They set up your trust and everything else and upon someone's exploration, that goes back to the family. It had to be the most well thought-out retirement home I had ever seen. They take you from where mom is today from the standpoint of independent living to assisted living to the point of even hospice care. It really wasn't bad for all the facilities they offered and how they transitioned you to the different services that they offered based on your needs. It has to be one of the most fabulous places I've seen. I could live there and I wasn't even retired but it gave me food for thought. They have separate dining rooms for each group of citizens that live there. If you live there and you just have a regular apartment, you can eat downstairs in the dining area. Individuals who aren't at the point where they really aren't sick or they need help, have to co-mingle. I saw a swimming pool with several lanes. There's a library there, they have a media room. They have obviously all the social events you'd possibly want. They're separated by floors. The independent living was on certain floors. I think it was like 10 or 11 stories, maybe 12. It was broken out where the lower floors has a main lobby where everyone congregates and then as you progress out, there was assisted living then individuals who needed a lot of help.

The staff interacts well with residents, and truly appear to care for their well-being. Staff members assist my relative with daily routines, including hygiene and dressing, as she now resides in assisted living. She previously lived in independent living, where she thrived as well, with frequent activities and outings available to her, including exercise, movies, happy hours, and movie showings. The food is also well done, and has high quality ingredients, including filet mignon once a month. In addition, the facility is well-maintained, and there are multiple resources for residents to conduct their daily acts of living, including a computer room, exercise room, and beauty salon on site. The front desk staff is always friendly and available to answer questions for both residents and guests. Overall, I consider it a premier facility for independent and assisted living in the New Orleans area, as it meets all the requirements one can think of when looking for a facility to recommend to loved ones.

I had the opportunity to visit Lambeth House, an assisted living facility in the uptown area of New Orleans, LA. The neighborhood that surrounds the facility looks nice. The facility itself is located on the corner of Broadway, and Leake. It is a very tall, dark red, brick building. The facility really looks like a home, and not a healthcare facility; from the rooms, to the halls, to the dining room it all looks like a home. At Lambeth House you won't find the traditional hospital plates covered by blue warming trays, and plastic cups. Instead, you'll see nice china, and glass goblets, when residents are sitting for a meal. The people there really seem to care about their residents. The only issue that bothered me about Lambeth House, is the fact that it is an Assisted Living facility, but some of the residents need nursing home care. This seems problematic because, the Aides and Nurses must take extra time with these residents, that shouldn't be necessary in this type of facility, and others have to wait. But my overall impression of Lambeth House, is that it is a very good facility
