My mother is in Homeplace at Midway. They told us that once her money runs out, if they have a bed that they will still provide for her. They will not make her move into a state assisted place. They will allow her to stay there if there's a facility for her, which I really liked. I do not like the idea of having my mother at an older age having to leave everybody that she has known. The Homeplace itself is a beautiful place. It has beautiful grounds. They serve a lot of chicken and potato chips, and that is one of my pet peeves. A potato chip is not a meal; it is a snack. I think they need to have a little bit better variety of food. The food is good, and the cooking is very good. It is just that it is repetitive. It's more chicken and more chicken. The dining area is very nice. The rooms are beautiful. She has a living room, a small kitchenette, windows to look outside, a nice huge bathroom, and a nice size bedroom with two closets. The rooms are very spacious. I do not know what they have for facilities because with the Covid, we have not been able to be in. I sent her in and it was Covid. It was one of the hardest things I could have ever done because I could not see her forever it seemed like.

Homeplace at Midway was incredible. Unfortunately, they didn't have any availability for my mother. The setting was probably what I liked best. The cottage style of living was another bonus, in my opinion. I can't think of anything negative about that place at all. The lady that I spoke with, her name was Sarah. She and I sat down for probably about 45 minutes. She knew every single detail about the facility, what they offer, the food, and the activities that they do. She was extremely helpful and she even recommended other assisted living facilities for me to take a look at. From what I saw, everything was clean, had good smells, and it wasn't dirty at all. It looked like everything was neat, tidy, and very well-kept.

Homeplace at Midway was wonderful. I liked the idea of it as being a homey atmosphere, instead of being in a nursing home. It was a beautiful facility. Everything we saw, we were impressed with. It was clean and nice. The lady that showed us around was super nice, very concerned, and considerate of our needs. They provide beds for you and then you have your main living space out for everybody. They also have a place where they could go outside that was gated and had benches as well as raised beds for them to do gardening.

I really didn't see anything that I did not like about Homeplace at Midway. I loved the grounds, the privacy of it, the interaction with the people, and the outdoor areas for the residents to sit. I also liked that there was no regimented schedule. You can come and go as you want, eat your breakfast whenever you want, order and fix your breakfast the way you want it. So, it's more like home than an institutional place. They also have some exercise machines, a hairdresser that comes in, and a gathering area for church services or other things.

The Homeplace at Midway is next to a horse farm. it's a very visually appealing setting. It's a different facility than most of the others because it is kinda like an eight-plex assisted living apartment center/multiple buildings. They could go to another building and to another building, and they all offered different things. The other community was a larger complex. It was very nice, but it was on the opposite end of the county from where my mother and most of her family were located, so we had to eliminate that. They were very nice and very accommodating. The room was very nice. It was kind of appealing, but it had limited opportunities for socializing, because you only had the other people within that building that you could socialize with, whereas at the other facilities there were dozens of people that you could socialize with. It's more of a family type atmosphere, because within such close proximity with all these other units, and it's all kind of like your own unit with your own bedroom, so it's big.

The Homeplace at Midway was beautiful. It's small, but it's really nice. They don't take very many residents at a time, but they take very good care of the ones they do. The staff member was friendly and knowledgeable. The dining area was big enough for the amount of people they have there. The people there absolutely loved it. However, they didn't have a room for my husband. They only have room for ten residents that have Alzheimer's or dementia. It's within walking distance from Midway College.
