Never spent one night at Tallgrass

If I could rate it lower than zero, I definitely would. Tallgrass and Erickson turned out to be a terrible choice for my mother as we searched for a suitable home following my father's passing. Despite their promising sales pitch, our experience revealed a business that took advantage of my mother, who was later diagnosed with Dementia and early-stage Alzheimer’s. We initially bought the largest 1-bedroom apartment on the top floor of their new buildings, informing the staff about our concerns regarding my mother's eligibility to live there and were expecting a clinical evaluation to determine if she was suitable to live there. They conducted an evaluation, but things quickly went downhill from there. The evaluator expressed concerns about my mother's suitability on the call with us right after evaluating, suggesting a re-evaluation closer to the moving date. However, no such re-evaluation happened. We took possession of the apartment a week before my mother was scheduled to move in, but upon arrival, she adamantly refused, citing feeling lost and uncomfortable. Despite having spent over $330,000 and made extensive preparations, my mother never spent a night in the condo. We never even moved furniture into the condo. Tallgrass's response was shockingly indifferent. When I informed them of my mother's decision, they showed little sympathy or support. They continued to hold onto our money, charging us for utilities and rent despite no one occupying the apartment. It took a meeting with the CEO and Director of Finance, months later, to negotiate a partial refund of what they had withheld. Throughout this ordeal, Tallgrass and Erickson displayed a complete lack of compassion and ethical behavior. Their treatment of my elderly mother, even after her diagnosis, was callous and profit-driven. I strongly advise against considering Tallgrass or Erickson for anyone looking into senior living options. Our experience underscores their poor business practices and disregard for their residents' well-being.

I toured Tallgrass Creek. It was a great tour. Everybody was very professional and polite. The building was great. It was brand new. They had a pool, they had a lot of aerobics water exercises there, and they had a fully equipped gym there. The staff who gave the tour to me was very friendly and very knowledgeable.

What I liked best about Tallgrass Creek was that it was newer. It's got five dining rooms. They had lots of activities. Dogs are allowed, so that's a bonus. They even have their own little dog park. It's right across the street from the doctor that I go to and a big shopping center. It was expensive. It is a for-profit place. I talked to some of the residents, and since they have been there, their monthly fees have continued to rise. It's a lovely place. It's beautiful. It's close to family for me. The staff members were wonderful. They answered all my questions and took their time showing me all around. I was impressed by that. They have an indoor fitness room, an indoor swimming pool, a pickleball court, and card rooms. I saw a calendar, and there are events that you can participate in almost every day of the month.

Tallgrass Creek is lovely. It looks wonderful. And I'd like to be there some day. The room is very pretty and it's probably reasonable for what you get. It's high-end stuff, so I really couldn't afford it, but it's lovely. Everybody was wonderful. It was very nice. They have restaurants and an indoor pool. They have all kinds of stuff. I tried their meal, and it was good. They have everything you could think of. They had a library. It's large. You can step up for care as you go.

We went to Tallgrass Creek. They have everything that we were looking for. We had a meal there, and that was good. The people we met were enthusiastic, professional, and friendly. The one thing that was kind of off-putting was that it was so big. It felt like we would be moving into a big city, and it didn't have to feel like a smaller facility. The food was tasty. It appeared that they had great variety, not only of offerings but locations to eat, which was a plus. They have a pool and a variety of different clubs and activities that we could get involved in if we chose to.

Best Place to live out your last years. Everything is provided and very comfortable. Has extended care when needed right on campus. Great emergency care without calling 911. Meals have variety of offerings for each meal and is changed monthly. I have not had a meal I did not like. Lived here three years and am very happy.

My grandparents are in Tallgrass Creek. They live in the independent section of it. It's very nice, clean, and bright. The actual place looks very nice. It was open, it reminded me more of a nice resort. It smelled good. The staff was very helpful, I got lost the first time, and they went out of their way. Another time my grandparents needed help with something, and they were right there.

Tallgrass Creek was a nice facility and it was one of our first choices to look at, but there are two of us. My sister and I needed a two-bedroom apartment with two good size bedrooms and they just didn't have anything that would accommodate us. They'd have one good size bedroom and then the other one was small. The staff was very nice and very knowledgeable and they went out of their way to show us things trying to find something that we needed, but we just couldn't find it.

Tallgrass Creek Senior Living Community is very modern, up-to-date, very clean, and beautiful. The staff is wonderful, very professional, and very nice. They have a lot of exercises. They probably have 10 different groups every day for physical activity based on whatever your abilities are. They have a Parkinson's group, too, that meets twice a week, and that is really good for my mom. Everything is limited because of COVID, so they don't have everything right now, but they have small group meetings, Bible studies, and church groups.

I think I'm choosing right now Tallgrass Creek. I visited it personally. We are really impressed with the quality of services, all the amenities including swimming pool and walking trails, and all other facilities. Their apartments are still not constructed; they're under construction. We picked one size right now, but we will not be able to see them in November or December. I didn't meet the staff. I met only the marketing lady, and I was really impressed with her performance. The building was very well-maintained, very clean, and very impressive.

I toured Tallgrass Creek. It was a good experience. I like it very much. It was very clean, very up-to-date, very modern and very nice. All the apartments had washers and dryers in them. However, as far as cleaning services, you had to pay extra to get that. I liked the location. They had nice facilities. They had a pool and a gym area, which I like. The dining area was very nice.

One call to the main number was all I needed to tell me that this is not the place for my mother. The receptionist was not interested in answering easy, uncomplicated questions that any first-contact employees should know... Two short questions that she actually did know, but was not thrilled to answer. To me, this speaks volumes about the quality of the organization and it was enough for me to make the decision to NOT visit this facility

Insurance was not yet approved and let them know that self-pay was an option. Would not accept cash/self-pay and denied service within 45 minutes of the scheduled appointment time to come to the facility for short term care. Horrible customer service!!!

Don’t let your loved ones live at Tallgrass Creek! They placed my 84 year old mom in an ambulance in the middle of the night, barely conscious, and never called any of her family, living minutes away and fully active in her life. She spent hours in the ER and ICU by herself. I still anguish over this.

Tallgrass Creek was good. It was OK, but it was probably not one I would choose for my dad. It's a great place, but it is not what we would be looking for. The rooms are apartments, and they're meant very much for independent living. They're pretty typical of an apartment.

This is a very expensive facility that refuses to get my mom up for a walk everyday and she's gone downhill rapidly ever since she's been there. As the older people do my mom says no when I ask her if she wants to go for a walk and so she does nothing but eat and sleep. She came there in pretty reasonable shape and was in great shape just a year earlier. People go downhill I know but my mother thrives on activity and aside from glitter and glue and singing which she doesn't do much she needs Activity real activity and she's not getting it. And then I have talked to the activities manager to health manager and they just say oh well she doesn't want to so we can't. When someone needs therapeutic activity, let alone everyday activity to survive you would think they would provide it for the enormous amount they charge. They don't. I have asked pleaded and begged them to get her up and walking and they just. Won't. Do. It. I give up.

I have lived in Independent Living for 18 months. I am a retired nurse so I am picky and toured all in KC several times. The amenities here are by far the best and the residents are engaged in many activities. It is resident driven in that residents decide what clubs and activities to start up. To date about 25 clubs. Everything from Nature Club to Woodworking in our own shop. We have an art room and instructor. We have a big pool with water aerobics & classes. We have a gym and fitness instructor & classes. We have our own Med Clinic with 2 Drs on duty 5 days a week. We show 2 movies a week. We even have our personal gardens and a ukelele club. We take 1-2 regional day trips a month. We have a bus to the grocery, drugstores & shopping twice weekly. A bus to the casino. We have church service & vespers weekly. Local entertainment and informative talks weekly. Condo Apartments from 1-3 bedrooms some with balcony or patio. All nice and many brand new. We have rehab, memory care, and skilled care ( 5 star Medicare rating) on our grounds. Food excellent with 2 cafes and a small market place deli. Covered parking and some underground parking. Two wonderful social workers and an activity director. Best of all are the residents and staff- we support each other and work together to make life enjoyable. Our staff are the best. If you have a concern you turn it in and there is follow up by either one of our resident committees or management immediately. All this service makes buy in price worth it. Majority of residents like it here and we have a lot of fun. We do have one grumpy resident

My family's experience with this facility has not been that great. It doesn't seem like they talk to each other or are ever on the same page. One associate will say A, another will say B and it turns out C is actually the truth. The administrative staff is also a bit unprofessional and in my opinion only concerned with money. They don't speak to you much or smile outside of discussing cost related details. The same is true for the social workers, which is surprising. Overall I was pretty disappointed because we really did expect a lot from this facility .

Tallgrass Creek has a nice layout and a very nice complex of buildings. The people working there were very intelligent, very welcoming, and very easy to get along with. The food was exceptional, and the chef was very good. They had group meals and all kinds of activities, like cards, exercising, and a pool. The rooms were very modern and pretty open. However, they have a very long wait list.

I toured Tallgrass Creek and felt that it exemplified luxury. They had everything in one place including clinics, doctors, shopping, and banks. The rooms were fabulous and beautiful. The staff was just fabulous, too, and answered any question. They had a gorgeous luncheon and a grocery store, restaurant, coffee shop, game room, computer room, hot tub, small pool and an exercise pool, spa, and indoor and outdoor fitness centers.

I would not have any complaints about Tallgrass Creek other than the location, which was not good for us. We did not see anyone unhappy.

My mother-in-law is in Tallgrass Creek. It is quite unique, and it is very nice. They have a clinic, which is sufficient. They have nurses and social workers. They have a multitude of activities. The food is excellent. They have walking trails and transportation. It is actually one of the topnotch facilities in the Kansas City area. They have a huge indoor swimming pool, a gym, a library, and a little convenience store.

We were greeted very warmly at Tallgrass Creek. They gave time and were very willing to work with us for my mother. Everything was very nice, new, and clean. You have to pay for house cleaning, but there is laundry in every apartment. My mom said she felt like she is at home. It was a really a beautiful thing for us.

The staff at Tallgrass Creek was very accommodating, pleasant, and helpful. They offer organized activities by groups or individually. They also offer transportation that takes you to concerts and shopping malls. They have adequate parking for your own car if you want to take it there. It’s a gated community, and you have to check in at the gate. You also have to check in at the lobby, and they will ask you who you want to see, so I think it is secure. We were able to eat there, and their dining area is very well maintained and very clean. The food was good.

We had my father in another facility named Tallgrass Creek. He was in rehab there for maybe three weeks. Their therapist is good, but the therapists only see the patients for maybe half an hour a day or an hour a day. They just did not have a good system partly because they are newer, and they have not worked out all their kinks yet. I just think their sights are on maybe the wrong priorities. We get promised a lot of stuff at the front end when you are looking at the place, but then it isn’t delivered very well, and it was just stressful for me to have my dad at Tallgrass Creek.

We visited Tallgrass Creek. The place was beautiful, but it didn't provide the services that we need. It was a wonderful place. If you want to live in congregate living, it would be fine. It is nearly new, and it is four years old, so everything about it has a very upscale, updated atmosphere about it. It is also probably one of the most expensive in the area, and consequently there were all types of details in their unit that you wouldn't necessarily find in moderately priced facilities.

We chose Tallgrass Creek because of the location, amenities, and pricing. The staff was very helpful, well-trained, and competent. The rooms are very modern and up-to-date and were more spacious than the others we visited. The dining room was comparable to other facilities.

The one that we went to recently is Tallgrass. It was fairly close. The proximity was a good thing. It's fairly new, so it's very clean. It has a nice exercise room and pool. The people seemed to be a lot more active and lively. My parents are probably more active than some of the other seniors. It seemed like there was a lot going on, and that was appealing. There were some good-sized apartments. They have a 2-bedroom townhome. It's a little more expensive because you have a buy-in there. We were very impressed with the lady who took us around on a tour. The people we met were very nice. It's a very nice facility.
