Very nice housing. Quiet with attached garage; they take care of your lawn and clear snow for you though often it's a 7:00 p.m. but still, that's a nice perk. You can have a small pet for just $10 a month which is very reasonable. BUT: - Was told rent increases are typically $20-$25/month at the end of a two year lease. First increase was $60/month and the next two year lease increase was $100/month. That's $160/month in just three years! - The lease is the scariest one I have ever seen in over 20 moves in 4 states and 50 years. Ask to read it before you commit. Seriously. - Washer is terrible. It turns sheets into long twisted ropes and just recently, it somehow managed to tie my two sheets together in one long, long very twisted rope. - Management will do what they can to fix appliances but if they can't, if you want a new one, you have to buy it...AND when you move out, that appliance is theirs because it's attached to the house.

A tenant can wait up to two weeks to get something repaired. One of the owners told me this. Two repairpersons for all of Fort Wayne and surrounding cities. And, worse, one time when my lease was up for renewal, the rent jumped $40 a month. Now it is going to jump $60 a month! The rent was already higher than the national, state, and Fort Wayne averages.

The Yellow Retirement Communities is very clean. Everybody takes care of their little area. The community takes care of the snow plowing, mowing, and all the outside stuff. It's very nice. We found a 2-bedroom, one bathroom, and it's a little over 1100 square feet. The staff is very nice. They answered all the questions that we needed to be answered. They were forthright with telling us anything we needed to know or didn't know and how they took care of the water, the sewer, and the garbage. There is a washer and dryer in each apartment. They are all individual apartments. It's a regular apartment complex, but they are single-story homes. They've got one bedroom and two bedrooms with different floor plans. They don't offer any activities. If you just need to get into a smaller place, and you can still do everything you need to do, or at least most of everything you can do, it's the place to go in Fort Wayne. There are restaurants and shopping close by.
