My husband stayed at Alden North Shore Rehab. It was a very cheerful place. He enjoyed being there, the way things were set up, and that he was able to socialize with people. It worked out very nicely for him. The therapy staff was very nice and very caring. Overall, we were very pleased. At the beginning, he thought the food was fabulous. It's institution food and he didn't complain too much, but he got a little tired of it. He had physical therapy there. He would go down and get ice cream, and there were some religious things posted. The staff was friendly. Therapy had a lot of staff members, but upstairs should have a few more. It was very clean. It was a positive experience overall for him.

Not that good at addressing my needs. Phone was too far for me to reach. not much PT. Food not good, chicken undercooked. What kind of place would send a 83 yr old lady home way too early with bad back to a blind spouse and house with stairs and hallway. None of my pain medicine sent home with me. Nurse was supposed to come but did not show up til end of week to write a prescription. No follow up PT showed up all week. Said they would come 10 days later. Had to keep calling to FiNALLY GET SOMEONE, was told PT was on vacation. Really??? Totally unacceptable! Was in pain and not strong enough to walk to toilet and then could not get up off toilet. NOT GOOD. Also what kind of care they set up for when I got home?Home care NOT GOOD. Fell 5 times due to weakness and pain. My children called Alden a few times after getting home for some answers and left messages for administrator for more care and no one even bothered to call back. Would never go to this place again! I would suggest finding a different place if you need good care.

This was a terrible experience. I was admitted for physical therapy following bilateral knee replacement. At the time I was discharged from the facility, I had been there for 3 days without receiving any therapy or assessment for therapy. (They said this was because I arrived on a weekend.) When I arrived, the room (a very antiquated one which hadn't been touched since the 80s) wasn't ready. I was stuck in a malfunctioning wheel chair for over an hour, all alone without any greeting or any orientation. Eventually, I tried to use the washroom and sprained my ankle. I am a vegetarian, and there was nothing for me to eat. (My husband had to bring food). The staff was abrupt and rude. Although listed as a rehab center, they only seem to deal with seniors. (So I did get a memory test and an offer of coloring books.) I entered on Saturday, and checked out as soon as possible, which was Monday, late afternoon). I had to wait that long in order to be properly discharged and not wreck havoc with my insurance. I have never been so happy to go home.

Something happened to my father where he fell and got hurt. He had prior experiences with Alden, and they were pretty good. They are never staffed enough, but this last experience was horrible. It almost killed my father. Had my daughter not walked in at that time, he would have been dead. The rooms were very nice. They have some double rooms and single rooms, but they were relatively spacious and nice furniture. For the most part, the staff was nice. They have very good food. Every day, they had different things going on. They always had some arts and crafts, singing, movies, or whatever, and they would give a treat in the afternoon. On many evenings, they would also have different movies and things like that. It was very clean and didn’t smell like a nursing home. Prior to this, I would have given them a five. Overall experience, it was a one.

Alden North Shore Rehab & Hcc was a very impressive facility and it was my primary choice. I went there twice and had positive impression. It was brighter, newer and a nice-looking place. It was also near my mother's house. I had described thoroughly my father's condition to them, but when it came to admission, they refused him because they felt he was too much work for their staff. It irritated me since it was difficult for me to find another facility quickly. Their qualification process came too late for me and it created a problem. I did not appreciate that.
