My mother-in-law is in Morningstar Village's assisted living. The place is very clean, very welcoming, and very warm. Her room is very pleasant. She's in a 1-bedroom apartment, and we moved her own furniture and paintings there. The staff have all been very friendly, very informative, and very caring. For activities, they have bingo and things like that but she is not in a position to participate because she's bedridden. They also have a salon. I saw them all lining up to get their hair done. For food, you can request changes from what's on the menu. I believe they have alternatives. My mother-in-law's food is mostly delivered to her room because she's not mobile. They have brought her down to the dining area once or twice.

Comparing Morning Star Village to the other ones that we saw, you would not get much for your money. The rooms were small and it only had one small closet, a very small refrigerator, and a very small microwave. These people are all old and it's one of those little itty-bitty refrigerators. So, you only have to bend over low to get anything out of it. It's livable, but you can get a lot more for your money someplace else. They had an exercise room that looked like a storage room. So, if you want to use it, I don't even know how you'd get to it. The facility was right on the road. So, when you go outside, it would be very noisy, because you've got the traffic going by all the time. The activities are average. They have the bingo, the exercise, and pretty much the same as the others. I didn't care for the dining room much, but the food is out of this world. They have the best menu of any place we've ever seen. It is fantastic and my mom knows somebody in that place. You can order off the menu. They don't have community meals. Every single person in that building orders something different for dinner. The people we met were nice, too.

Morningstar Village was very bright and cheery, and there was a lot of help available. They introduced us to a bunch of people that work there and they were friendly. The place was clean and seemed like the person living there would be getting the attention that they need. They have a nice sized room with a good size living room, a small kitchen attached and then the bedroom. They had studios, a 1-bedroom or 2-bedroom apartment. They were nice and we were impressed with the whole thing. They had a St Patrick's Day party going on and they invited us to join in and stuff, so it was very good. They have three meals a day, plus snacks if you wanted them. They have one area that is for entertaining and they have exercises in the morning. They have activities every single day, most of the time it's in the morning and afternoon. They do exercises, they have monthly birthday parties, different holidays and stuff like that. They seem like they've got a great place. They have a chapel for anybody that wants to use the chapel, it was very nice. All the staff knew all the residents and it was a nice facility.

I will be going to Morningstar Village in Rockford assisted living. They're going to take care of me after my surgery for 6 weeks. They're very kind. They're going to let me in, 2 days early with no charge, to bring my things before my surgery. It's wonderful. I've been there and I'm going again next week to go over my paperwork. Jane was very kind and very prompt. She's the lady that runs the place, she's like a manager or whatever. During my last visit, they took me up to my room. They asked me if there would be other items that I would need so they're going to bring them. I've had a really good experience and haven't even moved in there yet. They've reserved my room and they're going to let me take my things there a couple of days before my surgery. I have everything I need and I can go right from the hospital there. The room is like a small apartment with a kitchenette, living room, bedroom, and a large bathroom with all the things I need to be safe after my surgery. They have activities like crafting and there's a place where you can get books to read, and a very nice dining room. At the entrance of the building, there's a big fireplace and it just feels warm and comfortable. Everybody is very nice, too. They have a dining room that you go to for meals, or you can have it served in your room. I have not tried the food but she said that they would bring me a menu and that would be for a week. Also, they give you the option to have a list of foods that you like or don't like so that they know that when they prepare your food, you're getting food that you enjoy. When you move in your things, they have large carts that you can roll your things in on that make everything very convenient. They also do your laundry once a week.

My dad moved into Morning Star for about 4 weeks now, and it's fine. The staff seem nice. He has a very nice room, and it's adequate, nice, and clean. The dining area is very nice, it's more of a restaurant, the food has a good variety, it looks good, and he likes it. They have a lot of things going on. I think they have singers, bingo, and movie nights.

The staff and the residents at Morning Star Village were friendly. I personally liked it a lot. I thought they were my mom's type of people. The rooms were a bit smaller than other places, and at that time she was mainly using a wheelchair so it would be difficult for her to move between the bed and the bathroom. They go on outings, there's a therapy room, they have a florist, and they make flower arrangements. My mom commented that it was a little dark. It was a little bit outdated, but it's well kept, and it had nice wood floors and wide, open hallways.

Morning Star Village is a great location. My mom is thriving there. She's like her old self. She receives great care. It's very efficient. The move-in was very well managed. They've been very attentive. They helped get her phone connected and dealt with the problem with her newspaper getting covered. They've been 100% gold star. The food service is good. They have activities, especially over the holidays.]'[

Morning Star Village is a great place and is extremely clean. Mom loves it. They are constantly doing activities, and she has made a lot of friends there. She has become more socia,l and her memory is getting better. Mom said breakfast is the best meal of the day, and they can always order something else if they don't like what's on the chef's menu for the day. Some days, the food is really great but there are days when it's not so good. They have live music twice a week, trivia once a week, bingo, gambling trips, outings, and shopping.

We found Morning Star for my mother. It seems to be very nice, and we like it. They treat her well, the food and the care are good, and it is always clean. I really can't complain. The room has a living room area and a small kitchen with no access to a stove. I think that is because of her dementia, but she has a microwave and access to dishes. She has her own separate bedroom. The dining room is pretty large. They sit them around the table and take orders during breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Morning Star Village offered a lot of activities for people to interact with each other. The surroundings were very attractive. The rooms were nice-sized, cheerful, and pleasant. It had a feeling like you were in somebody's home and not in an institution. The staff we met was very friendly and outgoing.

The facility was very nice, and the apartments were spacious, but Morning Star didn’t have a family atmosphere. For the exercise classes, the ladies who were going to participate were sitting in front of a TV screen waiting for someone to turn it on for the exercise class video. It’s a little more expensive, but the grounds were well-kept.

Morning Star Village is a very beautiful place. The staff seems to be very good. They come and visit my parents. They bring in their kids to see them. They tried to go above and beyond. Their room is big. They took all their living room and bedroom furniture in. They have activities. My mom played bingo, and they went to church services on Sunday. We like the location. It is very close to all her doctors and not too far from us. The outside facility is just as pretty as the inside. It is very well kept.
