Grand Victorian of Rockford

Dad will be moving to Grand Victorian of Rockford and we chose that for him because there is a Grand Victorian in Sycamore and my dad's sister is there as other people he knows and he wants to get to be in Sycamore. There's a waiting list there, but we can get on up here now and then as soon as there's a room available there, we can transfer dad down and not have to pay a community fee to transfer him to that location. During the tour, I only talked to a couple of people and they answered questions, gave us good information, and showed us around all the things. They met all our needs. They have activities and you'll be able to get physical therapy there. They have nice rooms. They do your laundry, they would clean your place, and take care of your medicine.

Grand Victorian of Rockford was very impressive the minute you walked through the door. They had the GPS type thing, so if you were walking outside and you fell, they would know where you were at. The only negative thing I saw was the fact that it's very sprawled out. It's got long hallways, to where if you need assistance and you happen to be at the end of that hallway, you've got a long walk. The grounds were good. We went and it was still kind of winter. The minute you walked in the door, you got greeted and the staff took care of you right away. Even the personnel in the hallway that were doing cleaning and stuff acknowledged us.

We chose the Grand Victorian of Rockford for our mom. It is very nice. The people are very nice, and it is clean. So far, the staff has been absolutely wonderful. She has a studio room. There is room for a bed and chairs. We have all our home stuff there, so it makes it feel like home. The food looks wonderful, and my mom likes the food. They have parties in the courtyard. They have therapy dogs come in. There is bingo, and they had caramel apples in the courtyard. There is something going on every day. If she wants to do it she can; if she doesn't, she doesn't have to.

My mom is in Grand Victorian of Rockford. The facility is beautiful, very nice, and very clean. We liked it immediately when we walked in. The staff members were very friendly and helpful. The food is very good. They have a pizza party, bingo, and a patio. My mom's room is very spacious with high ceilings and a beautiful view. We are really happy that we chose this place. My mom loves it.

I really liked Grand Victorian of Rockford. The person that showed me around and that I talked to had a very good spirit about her. I liked the way that she interacted with the staff. I was introduced to several of the staff people. Everybody just seemed in good spirits there, which is what I liked. I liked the setup of the rooms. I liked the scenery around there. My sister is a person that likes to be out in the yard, and they would have the opportunity to help with the landscaping and stuff like that. I'm sure that is something that she would enjoy. It's just a pleasant place to me. It was furnished really nice. It was a pleasant environment. They really had a lot to offer. They had a movie room, a game room, and a dining area. All of that was really nice, even the landscaping and the scenery outside. Even if an elderly was taking a walk or being pushed around out there, it would be just good spirits. The staff was very friendly. Sometimes you go to these places and they're just there because it's just a job, but I didn't get that feeling from the staff there.

Grand Victorian of Rockford is small compared to where we are now. The staff is fine, they're open, and very courteous. The apartment we saw there looked fine inside, and it's comparable to the one we have there. They never offered us a meal so we didn't ask for it. The cleanliness and layout of the community is really good.
