As you go into Citadel of Northbrook, it is an attractive and inviting place. Inside, it is very clean and very orderly. My husband was well taken care of physically. They were attentive to everything he needed. The room he had was quite nice. It had big windows. There were windows on the side. I was there every single day. There might have been one or two days in five weeks that I wasn't there. He was prescribed a couple of different medicines that I didn't know about. Nobody talked to me about it. As we were leaving, they said, "Oh, this was for diabetes, and here is another one for depression." Yes, he has diabetes, but they didn't talk to me about it. I thought that they should have explained it to me. The one for depression was OK. I knew we were going to do that. However, I asked three times for the psychiatrist to talk to me, and they never did.

My sister-in-law was at the Citadel of Northbrook for rehab. What I didn't like about Citadel was she went in feeling pretty good, and she came out with a blood infection. Without visiting, I didn't know actually what was going on. We just didn't like the idea that she wasn't getting the therapy she was supposed to be getting. The staff that we met in the front was pretty helpful. The staff over the phone when we wanted to talk to her was pretty bad. We just weren't getting the kind of help or communication we needed. She stayed there only because of the insurance. At the time when she was released from the hospital, that was the only place supposedly that would take her. The outside looked nice, clean, well kept, and orderly. All you could see was the outside. We weren't permitted to go beyond the reception. My sister-in-law did not like it.
