I took my Mom to Norridge Gardens for rehabilitation after her recent cardiac procedure. It may not be the fanciest place but it is the most caring place I have ever seen! My mom was taken care of with compassion and affection. For that I am eternally grateful! All of the managers that I met were also very caring and responsive! They clearly do a great job! I would highly recommend Norridge Gardens for you or your family or friends! It is truly a wonderful place!!!

UPDATE: My Mom passed away on February 12. She went into a coma diabetic- she would have survived if the staff at this facility would have checked on her. Her glucose went up to 600+ and the nurse in charged that evening gave her insuline and wildly her glucose went down to 60! Imagine the horrible suffering she went through all night!? Her thumbs nails were broken and I can imagine her desperation to call for help and sadly my relatives found her unconscious the next morning with her brain already damaged and her meal next to her!! Neither the person the serve the meals could care less looking at her that it was obvious that she wasnt right. I will regret for the rest of my life to have left my Mom at this horrible nursing home.

In 2017 and again in 2019 my Aunt was at Norridge Gardens two different times for nearly 3 months each time. The therapist and nursing staff are very professional. They worked diligently with her and us (the family) so she could return home after her strokes. The accommodation were nice, neat with a lot of nature light. My family is close and family time is important. NORRIDGE accommodated us given my family the library space to gather on Friday evenings, which we would set up dinner and roll in a television. I recommend Norridge Gardens for your love one.

5 star facility! beautiful gym, great staff. On Sunday they had an amazing Fall Festival with a petting zoo, pony rides, hundreds of families from the area- was a truly wonderful event. Highly recommended!

I wouldn't put my dog in here much less leave my loved one in here.Everytime I came to visit the whole floor smelled like urine.Constant turnover with nurses and aides that forget to give out meals propely and medicine because they're new or just plain lazy if you ask me.Social workers are worthless too they do nothing but make excuses. If you do decide to put your loved one in this facility be prepared to babysit all the help in a daily basis.

High turnover of staff, always short, medical records say that they put lotion on my loved one every day but it's not true. State mandates minimum shower requirement is twice a week but they don't follow that because of the odor and greasy hair on my loved one. Even if I bring this to their attention they play dumb.....really not given a shower......they still follow through even after it's brought to their attention. The administrator says he was a doctor but he treats people like a commodity. Management has no follow through, doesn't return calls. We have to be the police to ensure that our loved one is taken care of. Medicare ratings are deceiving and can be bought so don't go by those. Talk to family that has loved ones at the facility.

Do not put anyone hère who cannot advocate for themselves. The main floor dining room is nice and is a good place for family members to dine with résidents. The food is okay to pretty good. There is a high turnover of both nurses and CNAs. Don't trust them. Visit your loved one often to make sure they are getting proper care. Consider doing laundry for your loved one. Their in house laundry actually destroys nice clothes. Keep written records of everything you see. And take pictures. This place is expensive - close to $9,000 per month. Watch what they do to make sure your relative is properly cared for.

My mother spent several months at this facility to rehab after a serious health problem. The rehab was excellent, and the staff persistent but firm with the required exercises. The nurses who saw to my mothers day to day care were five star. I rate the facility 4 star because the management can get slack. You must visit your loved ones every day, at least for a short while. The management of any nursing home needs to know you care. As for the other low ratings, please look at the Medicare ratings. This facility is 4 star for quality and level of care. Another Facility is rated highly by two reviewers as 3 to 4 star, but I know that facility, and Medicare rates it 1 star in almost all categories. I look at professional ratings before any others.

This is a horrible long term facility. I was forced to take my mother out after she received severe bruising (unexplained) and was fondled by a resident. Zero stars, but I had to put one to show this review.

The worse place ever. My father was there for about 4 weeks. I had to ask every week for my father to be shaved(otherwise no one will do it). Had to complain to the manager cause my Dad had to ask for food few times because the crew forgot(than it was delivered cold). Bought my Dad brand new cell phone but his roommate with dementia broke it and the Nursing Home did not feel that they're responsible( I was told by the nurse that my fathers roommate will be moved to a special care and it never happen). I would NEVER recommend this facility to no one.

As nursing homes go this is certainly one of the nicer ones that I have seen and I would recommend it. I was visiting a patient in hospice and the nursing staff was welcoming and helpful, bringing coffee and extra chairs to the room. I have also visited the second floor which was recently refurbished and there is a lovely activity room with a fire place. Among the amenities I observed is a laundromat and Ice Cream Parlor/Outdoor garden and patioRehabilitation gym. There is also a colorful bird aviary on the first floor. Norridge is off of Harlem Avenue in a busy shopping center in Chicago. You can almost miss Culom Avenue which the nursing home is on, but keep going a little way on the street and you will run into it. I wasn't too crazy about the parking lot. It's one of those lots where there isn't enough parking and once you are in it is difficult to get out. Street parking is limited. The receptionist was nice, but the lobby is small and impersonal and you have to be buzzed in making it feel a bit like an "institution." I also know that they have been trying to get a resident committee going, but have had trouble getting that off the ground. Despite these things, I think overall this is a nice, clean facility. Patients seem to be getting good care and it doesn't feel overtly like a "nursing home." Again, I would recommend.
