I found some of the staff to very offish and unhelpful. Was even told I could not talk to my relative. My relative most of the time would not get out of bed but the staff on the new floor refused to take the phone to him telling me the other floor was more lenient than there's. I could not understand some of the staff. As an outsider looking in I was not happy with the staff.

This is a very clean facility, very nice. Staff are friendly. There is a large population of Korean residents. Staff also speak Korean and the culture is embraced through language, tv, etc. Family members are treated with great respect and are welcome to sit in on activities. Most of the rooms have two beds, but are decorated by the families. Does not feel institutionalized. There is an outdoor courtyard and plenty of parking. Near shopping and restaurants.

This facility has changed names and ownership in the recent past and is reportedly in the process of being enhanced and improved in a number of ways. It is a big building that resembles a mid-century multi-storied apartment building that has seen brighter days. It is situated about a block off the main streets and backs up to a quiet, safe residential neighborhood that boast nice well maintained sidewalks. The facility also has a very nice fenced in courtyard outdoor area that is available for the enjoyment of residents and staff. It is not enormous, but it is much larger than most urban facilities' outdoor spaces and provides trees, plantings, a walking path, and shady places to sit and relax or visit. The interior feels dated, stodgy and worn; fully ready to be renovated, updated, and upgraded. There is a nice sized lobby and some additional common areas on the main level, but common areas are lacking on the care floors, making the resident rooms, main level, or the outdoor space the most common places for visiting or relaxing. The rooms are adequate but not overly large, and most are shared. Again it is reported that remodeling and upgrading are in process, and the rooms would benefit. There is a cultural component to the facility that is very appealing to some who seek it, that is the significant Korean population of residents, number of Korean staff, and attention that is paid to maintaining elements of Korean culture. Korean food is prepared daily, in addition to "regular American" food, and all residents have a choice. Though I was not fortunate enough to partake of the Korean fare, it looks and smells amazing. The "˜regular' food is average to above average base on available reports and appearance. Staffing seems average for a facility of this size; sometimes residents have to wait for help, and sometimes there are nurses and aides assigned to a floor where they are unfamiliar with the residents. All staff are friendly, kind, polite, and appear committed to providing good care. If you are looking for Korean cultural components in particular, then upgrade the rating to a four and-a-half; the three star rating is an overall in comparison to all available facilities in general.
