They say... "No place, like home".....but what if you can't stay home anymore?...... My mom, Krystyna is suffering from dementia. She can't take care of herself and stay home. Asbury Court, a senior home in Des Plaines offered my mom help. She is currently in Memory Care Unit at Asbury. She has there her own room with her own furniture and a private bathroom. Asbury Court provides to her medical care, meals, laundry, cleaning and all kinds of activities. They also have a beautiful park with the gazebo that mom can enjoy on the good sunny day. There is always someone here to talk to, keep her company and care for her. She already met few Polish friends, which is nice, because her primary language is Polish. My mom, Krystyna feels at Asbury safe and no longer alone. It feels here for her like home.

My sister was at Asbury Court. It was pretty newly built and very nice looking. She was there for rehab. The staff were average. They needed to improve their staffing. They're understaffed. I suppose it's everywhere, but they took a while to come to answer a button. Their therapy was nothing above average. The food was awful; it was abysmal. It was fixed in the other building, so they brought it over to the rehab facility. It was never hot, and it was often served in the room. My sister has a restricted diet, and they had a difficult time trying to figure that out and be consistent with it.

The woman I met at Asbury Court was nice, but the first thing she jumped at me was how much money that I had. The place was under remodeling and the kitchens weren't really a kitchen. I think they had a little tiny refrigerator and a little microwave. That was the extent of it. It was an old motel that was converted. It was one room and then I guess if you wanted a bedroom, they have one that adjoins them and it was like twice the money. It was just weird. I wasn't happy at all with it.

My mother-in-law lived at Asbury Court 15 years ago and back then it was a wonderful place. I moved here on April 6 2023 and it is still a wonderful place!!! Everyone is so kind and helpful. Nothing but smiles and everyone is so happy to answer your questions. I have a wonderful private room . I am so happy and excited that I have to pinch my cheeks that I am really here. I would recommend Asbury Court to anyone looking to come here to live in there assisted living or in their skilled living area. I consider myself lucky to be in such a wonderful place.

Asbury Court is a former hotel, and it was set up like a hotel, so it's a clean, quiet setting. They have elevators. The staff was super friendly. They seem to have limited activities for the people in memory care. At least they had a beautiful open facility where they can roam around and do whatever they have to do. The only drawback is that they don't have an outside court. It's a three-story building. The first floor is assisted living, the second floor would be supportive living and the third floor is memory care. The dining room is very nice.

My father was there for 3 days. He had a history of depression that the director of admissions was aware of and they allowed him to move. 3 days later he was having a depressive episode and they sent him for a psych hold. After that they would not allow him to come back the new director of admissions said he required too much care. So we had to scramble to find him a new place to live. He had to stay at the hospital for almost 2 weeks before we found him a new place

I had an in-person tour of Asbury Court. One of the things that I like about the facility is that they have security. The patients that stay there won't be able to get out without anybody knowing. I like that it was clean. I like the rooms. They were good size rooms. They also have a space for queen size bed and some other type of furniture. I remember the eating room; it was fine. They have activities for the seniors. They have exercises according to their ability. They had a nice outdoor area. People can go out, sit, enjoy some reading and the sun. The people that work there seem okay. They had a variety of food. Right now, it will be like one of my primary places for my mom. I believe that they do take them grocery shopping sometimes. I believe that's one of the things that they do have available for the people there. I know they had a TV room and a laundry room, too.

We were given this great spill about how wonderful this Facility is. But now that my mom is in the facility it's not so great my Mother has on the same clothes every time we visit I know because we're the ones that showered and put them on her because they claim she refuses her shower I keep telling them don't ask her would she like to take a shower just day Ms Young it's time for your shower she'll go. She forgets to flush her toilet so when we come her room smells like a sewage do that tells me no one is checking on her if they were that smell would hit them in the face as soon as they walk in the door I thought they had housekeeping apparently not because we have to clean the restroom up. I been calling trying to talk to the administrator she's always in a meeting so they say I guess she's in a meeting her whole shift all this facility about is getting money I'm strongly thinking about taking my mom out of this facility.

I ha Be a relative that has been at Asbury for 7 years and the quality has decreased exponentially. It is sad that the experience of the staff and total professionalism has degraded so much. There is less and less attention paid to the residents and food quality regarding meals is inconsistent. There are some activities but very limited offerings.

I'm going to start looking around for another facility. I'm so tired of that place. Employees are so slow to respond. They miss giving my brother's prescription drops, miss scheduled medical appts, etc. etc.. They don't have any consideration for the family either. I don't know what goes on in there since Covid lock down. My brother has parkinsons and early dementia. I hate that I can't visit. I only get to see him for medical appts when they remember to take him to the appt. I saw him Wednesday for eye appt. and he's lost weight and had a golf size lump on his elbow. I asked them to ask the doctor to look at it, or I could take him to immediate care the next day. They said there is nothing wrong with his elbow but refuse to send me a pic via email or text to show me that huge lump is now gone. I just want to know he is okay. This is just the last incident of many issues. Don't take your relative here until after they reopen for visitation when you can see what's going on. They care more when you visit.

I dislike writing negative reviews but feels compelled to warn others. My mother was treated terribly. the Caregivers on the 4th floor were mean and negligent, at best. My mother suffered a broken neck. The caregivers said she ran and fell into the wall. My mother was restricted to a wheelchair. We immediately pulled her out and put her into another facility with more caring and attentive personnel. I feel so guilty that we put her in Asbury.

Asbury Court is just what my family was looking for, with regard to having my mother move into a senior community From the start of the process, everything was amazing. From us first meeting Daniel, who is the main representative of the facility, to my mom actually moving in, was a a non-stressful and welcoming process. Her room is terrific, newly renovated. They have numerous activities for the residents. any our interactions with the staff have been great

My sister has received outstanding care while in rehab. She has spoken highly of all of the staff. She's been encouraged to participate in activities. While she has been in rehab, we have worked closely with Daniel. He answered all of our concerns and helped the transition go smoothly. Her Today is her move-in day. We are excited for this new beginning for her.

I'm a resident of Asbury Court. I was in independent living, but now I'm in assisted living. There's a lot of remodeling being done, but it's a nice place. The food is nothing special, but it's good. I've had no problems with the staff.

I was at Asbury Court for 6 years, but it declined in quality. After the first two years, the original owner died, and his family started running the place. They cut services and quality and were unresponsive. The facilities went from pretty good to kind of lousy. The food became not good, and activities were minimal, although the place was safe and clean. There were some people who were pretty good, and a lot of people who were pretty indifferent, so sometimes it's hard to get services. There were no activities except for Bingo, and there was nothing that I enjoyed.

Asbury Court looks very nice. The problem I found is that the assisted part is run by a different organization than the people who run the facility. There doesn’t seem to be a lot of communication between the two, and the assisted part really disappointed me tremendously. My husband did not want to participate in any of their stuff, and the assisted people don’t take him to the different activities. The rooms are nice and spacious. He has one of the smaller ones that does not have areas for tables, but he does have a small refrigerator and a microwave. The dining area looks nice, and they have a big gathering area where they have bingo as well as a little theater where they have movies during the day. The facility itself is very nice.

I have been here for 4 months. My room is warm and clean. There are people that come once a week and mop the floor, vacuum the carpet, and they dust everything. The lobby is excellent and the appearance of the building is good, and it will be better once they finished the renovation. The people are very friendly and accommodating. The food is excellent. I haven’t anything burned or overcooked. The nursing staff is very helpful with my showers. However, I would like to have more details for the doctors’ appointment in the building. Also, the laundry service is terrific. They washed all my clothes when I moved in and folded them all. I was so excited about that.

I have been in Asbury Court for two years. Housekeeping is very good, I couldn’t do without them. The laundry service does excellent job; they fold up my shirts, like I bought out of a store shelf. People around here are friendly and carry on a nice conversation. The facility itself is clean and well-maintained. Activities have been improved since Brea, Director of Events, came on board. We do have more events and entertainment. For example, we have outside food brought in and the staff members volunteer to be our servers.

I visited Asbury Court. We were interested in a one-bedroom, but they only have two connected studio apartments, so you ended up with two bathrooms. It would have been very suitable for a couple.

My dad has already moved in at Asbury Court. He really loves it there. They've totally remodeled a room, so he has a brand new room in a good location. They have outings to restaurants, and they have a shopping weekly trip. Also they're very into bingo, Wii, and exercises. The food is awesome. They have lots of home-made soups and stews that my dad really likes.

I actually liked Asbury Court because they had a doctor and a nurse at all times, so old people did not have to leave the building. They had a movie room with a big screen on the wall. They had buses that took residents to places like Walmart and Target.

Asbury Court is very nice. My mom is actually quite comfortable with it. They have a lot of activities. The staff and the residents are very friendly and very nice. Her apartment is very nice. She has a kitchenette, and she has plenty of space. The food is OK. It could be a little bit better. It is the only complain I would have. The dining room is very nice. They have entertainment, Wii games, bingo, board games, and card games. She has been there since the end of April.

I've been seeing a lot of really amazing changes at Asbury Court. I've had some friends who have their grandparents and parents move there and now I've decided to move my grandmother into the facility. It's such a warm and caring place. The administrator is a superbly fantastic and friendly guy who genuinely cares for the well-being of the residents. Nursing is also fantastic! They are right on target with everything! The food is delicious and the rooms are just so clean. I can't believe the attention to detail they have at this place. They think of everything! I especially love the walk in showers (no tubs to trip over), HUGE rooms, and the new theater room. It gives me so much peace of mind to see other residents living there do so well....my grandmother fits right in. Asbury Court made it so easy for my grandmother to move right in...I never had to worry about a thing! I recommend this place for any senior looking for a secure, relaxing and well managed home they can enjoy for many years to come.

My mom was a resident of Asbury Court for over eight years and throughout her time there, she was extremely well cared for. My family never worried about her and the staff genuinely cared for her as a person. During her time there, she made many friends (including staff) and her room was bright and cheery. There was always something for her to do and she always felt safe and cared for. I would not hesitate to recommend Asbury Court to anyone looking for a home for their loved one.

I was never impressed with the outside of this place. It's very uninviting. It looks like a prison from the outside, but I was shocked when I went inside. I loved it. It's beautiful and clean. There's a lot of beautiful wood furniture around. The hall and the cafeteria were gorgeous and clean. It is nestled between a gas station and the expressway.

I have been in Asbury Court for almost five years now. The facility is kept very clean. I feel very comfortable being here, and they keep the rooms and the public areas clean, and I really appreciate that. We have a younger people here who are diabetic, and the menus simply do not accommodate that. Over the past year, the quality of food has deteriorated significantly. I am not particularly happy because there is not much to do; there are not many activities. I am 66 years old and playing Bingo five times a week. We have a bus, and it leaves the parking lot once a week to go to the Jewel's, and then the bus sits there for the rest of the week. And I hear the bus is going to go to a Chinese restaurant one day. The bus can accommodate 20 people, and there are 300 of us here. We are clean and safe, and that is where they put their emphasis.

I am in Asbury Court, and this is a lovely facility. It is a lovely environment, and I like the people. The staff is very caring. The facility is quite nice. They try very hard in remodeling some of it. It is a little hard sometimes for them to have everything they want, but they are doing a beautiful job during the remodeling. The food is very good. There is always at least three entrees. There is always something going on. Everyone likes bingo except me. They have movies, games, and always somebody to talk to which it important. There a lot of room to sit around here, so you can be out of your room. They have trips to stores. It is near a hospital. It is an excellent place to be.

My mom is in Ashbury Court. One of the reasons we choose it is because of the cost. It is about $1,800 a month to put my mom there and the other is that it is close to where I live, so it is easy for me to stop and check on her. I stop every night to check on her. The staff is very good. They provide for her meal and clean for her. We had a couple of meals there before we moved her and the food was good. My mom seems to like it. My mom is in a one-bedroom studio. For my mom's need, I think it is adequate. My mom has dementia and she is afraid to do the activities that they offer, like bingo and trips, but she loves the days when they have shows. I think they need to have more activities like live entertainment.

There is not enough activities for the residents to keep them active. They go back and forth to the dinning room to eat and there are a few activities but far and few between. People are just sitting in the halls with nothing to do. What a shame the activities director isn't doing more. The food is tasty but very salty which is surprising to me because the people there are all older and probably be watching their salt intake. There is no special menu for diabetics and some times they serve sweet rolls for breakfast. When they have eggs its only hard boiled. I was told if my mother is hungry she can ask for seconds or a little more of something on the plate but they won't give her more than her serving. Her room is very nice and the staff is very nice and helpful. It is a little difficult getting information to and from the nursing staff from my mother's doctors. They do have doctors on staff which I think they prefer to work with but my mother wants to keep her own doctors.

I had to pull my mom out of Asbury Court because her rash got worse. They were not putting a rash medication on her. I told them to put cream on her twice a day, and they said, "No problem." But when I went to visit her, the rash looked horrible. It was like a burn, and I immediately called 911. It was a horrible experience. This facility would never be on my list again.

Asbury Court is affordable. I've been here for a week now and I have not found any problems at all. The staff likes their jobs. The food is somewhat salty, but it tastes good.

Our mother was a resident for a short time before we knew that she needed to be moved elsewhere. The caretaker staff on the 4th floor were impatient and negligent. My mother suffered a serious injury and had to be hospitalized. I would not advise anyone to put someone that they loved in this institution. I am so sorry that we placed our mother there. Fortunately we did move her to a residence with a caring staff.

There are pros and cons at this facility: Pros: Deliciously prepared meals Cons: Residents complain that there's not a lot of variety; however, the owner recently scheduled a meeting for residents to voice their opinion on the menu. Pros: Private apartments that are well-sized to give you a sense of space without feeling lonely or closeted. Cons: Residents complain of feeling a lack of privacy and ownership because housekeeping staff, health care workers and maintenance staff all have a skeleton key to the apartments and many residents complain of theft of prescription pills and valuables. Pros: The apartments are located in a large U and are away from the common areas so that noise and traffic are never an issue in the halls. Cons: Because the building is shaped like a U, residents who live toward the top of the U have the longest walk to the dining hall, check in desk, nurses' station, administrative offices, and all common areas. Residents who suffer injury or temporary incapacitation will feel the burden of walking to the common areas. Pros: Maintenance staff are skilled at their work and respond in a timely manner. Cons: Maintenance sometimes will take a few days to respond to resident complaints of broken items, bulbs that need changing, heat vents that blow in an undesirable direction. Pros: The place is a converted hotel so the interior is quite pleasant (hotel casino like in the common areas). Movie viewing room, quite a few sitting areas, mailroom, bank, and other ammenities are located there. They also have bus service to frequented shopping areas. Cons: The nursing staff and doctor on site are at times impatient and condescending. The doctor on staff is young and seems inexperienced. He's not very responsive to client needs. FAMILY ADVOCACY is always crucial, regardless of your elder's location (hospital, nursing home, assisted living, supportive living, home alone, etc)

My grandmother moved to Asbury Court after my grandfather died. She stayed in a 1-bedroom assisted living apartment. The facility was very clean, spacious, and smelled great - didn't have the odors sometimes associated with nursing homes that are not as clean. The staff was especially friendly and seemed interested in engaging the residents. One day I visited, and whole crew of people were in the atrium in their recliners, laughing and clapping along in a group singalong. My grandmother was not as social, so the Center happily delivered her meals to her room. She developed a relationship with the visiting health care worker who took care of her daily needs. The food was decent, she reported, and she also had the opportunity to have her her professionally done once a week, which she greatly appreciated. Eventually she grew too ill to stay at Asbury Court and had to move to a more intensive facility, but the impression she gave was that she enjoyed her time there very much.
