I just had my mom transferred from this place. This is a major fired hazard. The elevator never works. When it does, it is always over crowded with patients riding up and down it because they have nothing else to do. They don't have any activities outside for the patients and nothing really inside. I can't tell you how many times I've gone there and patients are running around half naked. Oh, and do not, I repeat do not buy your love ones any personal items because they will come up missing. Time and time again I have purchase my mother clothing, wrote her name in it with perm marker and they still come up missing. They never replace them, ever. Many of the nurses are nice that is why I give them 1 star. I liked a few of them but that didn't make up for the treatment of my mom.

My brother is in Cedar Pointe Rehab, and it is terrible. I have been there, and it's disgusting. It has terrible odor in it, and there is very little rehab as far as things for people to do or enjoy. I see the nurses never getting up from their desk. They're just sitting. The people wear adult diapers, and they're not changed. The place smells, and the elevators smell. I had an appointment and spoke with some of the people who operate the facility, and they seemed very nice, but I think they just want people there because they get a certain amount of money from the State or the Veterans.

This is really not some place I would recommend unless the person was destitute. The facility is on Cermak Avenue in Cicero and when I was there there were several residents who seemed like they were "hanging" out in front. One man asked me if I were an inspector when I came to the entrance because I was wearing a dress. That was a kind of foreshadowing of things to come. The building itself seems like a psychiatric institution where poor people go to stay. Out of place was the woman behind the desk who had a friendly professional and helpful manner. The lobby consisted of a couple of chairs, not much else. There was also a vending machine room for patients. The furniture was sparse, not that clean and uninviting. Making my way upstairs in the elevators was none too pleasant. The elevators were slow and crowded. Residents were getting on and off in a variety of conditions. Getting on the elevators there were many bad smells from patients with poor hygiene. On the floors, the activity rooms were ugly with mismatched furniture and was dirty. Overall the staff were helpful, professional and kind trying to make the best out of a bad situation.
