I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My friend has been a patient at the carlton 5 yrs now , prior to Legacy taking over I felt it was a 5 star place , then Legacy brought in new staff and the place went to hell , so much so I was gonna move my friend out of there , then Legacy brought in JoAnne as the administrator, Sarah as asst administrator and Roland as head nice , and slowly these three have slowly turned the Carlton back into a 5 star place . I visit my friend 6 days a week and talk to him 10 times a day , so I have seen the fantastic changes that have been made . Now instead of being worried and stressed about my friends well being when I leave every day , I am confident that he is well taken care of . The Carlton is once again a 5 star place , due to JoAnne who unlike past administrators actually cares about the patients as well as the patients family and friends !!! The place isn't perfect but if JoAnne and Roland have their way it will be !!!

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

I've had good and bad experiences with The Carlton at the Lake. My father is taken care of and he's OK, but he's fell, and he was beaten up by his roommate and had to go to the emergency room a few times. The cleanliness of the place is not that great, but the staff is really accommodating, helpful, and nice. The staff is nice, but it takes a few times for me to instill in their head certain situations that I disapprove of or didn't understand. They have activities Monday through Friday for an hour. He declines to go to those, but I requested that he be required to go to them. They discharged him from skilled physical therapy and I think he still needs that. The food is bland and it has to be, but he likes it. The floor he's on is a two rating, but the short-term floor is a four. There are things falling off the walls, they have old TVs, and they're really small. He has had things come up missing too.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My Great aunt was in Weiss Hospital, and she unfortunately needed a facility to take care of her long term. I heard from a Doctor that Carlton at the lake was conveniently close and has good Nursing care. I looked up some reviews and they looked pretty bad. I went to go see the facility for myself and was extremely pleasantly surprised. I was greeted warmly by the receptionist and by all the staff i interacted with. I decided to give the facility a chance to see how they do. I have to say after a couple of months my great aunt is in great shape. It's obviously not perfect but everytime i asked for something the facility was on top of it and always made me feel as if they were making patient satisfaction their number 1 priority. I am so happy i found a place that cares and i am happy to recommend Carlton at the lake to anyone

I have a grandparent in this GOD FORBIDDEN place, smells bad always in bed never moved around, hardly ever changed belongings are missing no one knows where they are. I asked for information everyone is very uninformed. it a horrible place I saw bugs flying around a residents bed while visiting. no one is ever around for help it is sad. HOW DO I GET MY GRANDPARENT OUT I WANT to contest the person who's her current POA.

Inept staff. CNA's don't speak English and nurses so overburdened that all they can do is dispense medication. Turnaround staff is consistent. Processed food/Junk Food is served regularly. Doctor visits are non-existent. Do not allow your loved one to come to this facility or any facility owned by Legacy.

Don't allow the beautiful first floor to fool you. This nursing home is understaffed and the overwhelming majority of the staff is incompetent. The last time I visited my friend I rode up in the elevator and listened as a PT and OT joked and spoke disrespectfully about one of the residents, and how they were just going to "make him wait" today because he was grumpy. The friend I visit is incontinent, and shy about her inability to control her bladder. Even though she wets herself daily, she is not showered daily--and her depends are changed an average of twice each day. The last time I visited here, she tried to use the restroom solo, she was scolded for accidentally getting urine on the floor.

First of all, The Carlton at the Lake wasn't clean. My mom was in there only for a week. The food was not very good at all, and they serve it in styrofoam containers. A couple of the staff seemed to be caring, but the others seemed just like it was their job, and they seemed extremely overworked.

I chose Carlton at the Lake for my friend because they have more like a nursing home and that is what she needed. The staff were very friendly and nice and they took good care of things. They just recently remodeled the place so everything is nice, fresh, and clean. She also enjoyed the food there so the food must be good.

This facility from the outside looks wonderful, it is right off the lake front and has many bus and train lines nearby which is why it was thought to be a perfect choice for our family. Once inside the rooms look nice and clean and the facility looks well kept. We got a surprise though, once my mother in law was placed here. The rooms were very cramped, she initially was placed in a room with 2 other people, one of those had a mental issue and talked most of the night. My mother in law was in for a stroke and was unable to get very much rest. Also many times when we visited the facility was hot and seemed to lack proper air flow. The staff was pretty good, but there were not enough cna workers to assist with all the patients which at times caused a long wait if we needed my mother in law changed, or if we needed to get her medication. If I had to choose I would not place her back in this facility, the cons surely out weighed the pros and she is much more comfortable at her new placement, she has a newer model tv, a private room, activities daily, and enjoys it much more than the carlton. Overall it is not a horrible place for a loved one, but I have found there are others that are much more reliable and comfortable for both the patient and family.
