My dad stayed at Lakeview Rehabilitation and Nursing Center before he passed. The CNAs and the nurses there were really helpful whenever my dad needed anything. They checked up on him a lot without him having to press his call button. They were gentle with him too. At the point he was there, he had a fragile body because of stage 4 cancer and they were very delicate with everything that they did with him. The rooms were big and they accommodated us when my mom and I were there. They made sure that we had space for our stuff when we sat with him. They would even bring me food when they brought my dad's food. They also had activities for the residents every day. Just in general, I think they're quite understaffed on the weekends, which is why I came. I didn't have to come on the weekdays because I knew he would be fine, but on the weekends, they only had one CNA and one nurse per floor for a lot of patients. Besides that issue, everything else was fine.

Lakeview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center was terrible. It seems as though they had a big turnover in staff when my friend was there. They used a lot of agency people and they're not very attentive. The social services were pretty good, but the rest of the staff were not. The facility looked basic. They had very little, if any, amenities. There are no activities. The food was also terrible.

My husband went to Lakeview Nursing & Rehab Center. Unfortunately, because of the pandemic, I could never go up there and visit him. But it was not the nursing home's fault, they were just following regulations. One thing that liked though was their social worker, and his name was Jason. He was a ten-star on social working. He kept me informed on everything. He was trying to make a way for me to come up there and possibly be isolated in a room with my husband, but it never worked out. Anytime I called and talked to the nurses they were very compassionate, and they fully filled me in with what was going on with my husband. Every time he had a fall, they contacted me immediately. It was an awesome nursing home. Everybody was very polite, accommodating, very courteous, and compassionate. Jason worked with me and continued to always call me and check on me and fill me in on my husband's condition. He also let me in on Medicare, and what was going on with the legal aspect of it all. It was a very good nursing home and rehab center. When I went to pick him up all of the staff were extremely courteous, very kind, and very nice. I could tell that my husband was well taken care of although he had three falls. One of the falls happened before I picked him up. He fell and hit his head, and the right side of his head had a large mat, so they had to rush him to Thorek Hospital.

I have visited this facility a few times when older relatives resided there. My great aunt was in the facility for rehab after rib replacement surgery. Being in her late 80s, she was unable to stay at her home during recouperation. The facility was clean for the most part and the staff seemed nice. One thing that I didn't like is that the parking lot was very small, with only enough space for the staff's cars and a few extra spaces. Whenever we visited in the afternoon, it was always hard to find a parking space and we'd have to wait for sometimes up to 20 minutes to park. I noticed that the facility had a pretty regular schedule of meals and activities for the residents. One thing that I like is that family members could sit with the resident in the recreational room while playing BINGO and other games. One thing that I noticed was the nursing staff seemed to work really hard and was alway busy. If you needed anything out of the ordinary, it might take some time for them to get back to you. I didn't take it as their fault though, it was just really busy.Overall, I would recommend this facility for people living on the north side of Chicago. It's in the crowded Lakeview neighborhood, but it's a pretty nice place for your loved one.

This facility in the popular, generally safe, urban Lakeview neighborhood offers short term rehab and long term care. It is difficult to park here; however for urban dwelling and mobile residents the location has many offerings of shops and restaurants in easy walking distance. There is also plentiful public transit. There is no real outdoor space for residents due to the urban setting, though residents do often lounge out in front of the building. Space is at a premium so common areas are modest in size. The facility is typically clean and well maintained; it is more modest than it is upscale. Rooms are just slightly larger than average for this type of urban setting, so there is some room for personal items to be brought in. The food is average and at times does not look appetizing; other times it seems alright. Staffing is variable with seemingly greater than average staff turnover compared to other similar facilities in the local area. Often families report long wait times to receive assistance and less than stellar follow through. This is certainly not the case all of the time, as many staff are clearly responsive, kind, and caring. If a resident can advocate on their own behalf they will likely get more attention than if they cannot. If this geographic is not absolutely necessary, there are other facilities nearby that may offer greater consistency, especially for a long term stay.
