We placed my mom at Fairmont Care. The care they provide is average, and the communication is good. She's been in there a little over a month, and they have never contacted. They keep the place very clean. The meals are very good, and there is a great variety. They come every morning and let her choose what she wants for the day. It's very well prepared and very good. The staff members are all very nice and responsive. The problem seems to be that they're very understaffed. If I need something or my mom needs something, it can take too long for them. My biggest issue is in the morning. I want my mother out of bed and in a wheelchair. I don't want her left in bed; that's that's the hardest thing. I have to go to track down the CNAs and say, "Hey, you know, mom's still in bed. She needs to be up, dressed, and ready for the day. She's not going to be able to do anything." I would give them below average on that. I do think they're understaffed. They cover too many patients or residents. The activities are excellent. Every morning they have exercises, and there's music playing. It's very bouncy and happy. They have someone directing it. They bounce a ball around, and it's very good. There are different activities in the afternoon. A couple of afternoons they play bingo, and another couple of afternoons they have a movie. It's pretty much just Monday through Friday, and the other day they did crafts.

I was a patient there in September of 2021. I came in quite sick. Diagnosis was rhabdomyolysis. The RNs were fabulous. Very attentive. Although I feel they are short-staffed. A number of the CNAs had severe attitude problems. I once asked to CNA (Sherry) when dinner was coming and she said "dinner will be coming when you see me bring it into your room." The same CNA told me "you better start learning how to do things yourself," CNA Julio conducted personal business while he was putting me on the bedpan. I never got a bath or was assisted with a bath in the 3 weeks that I was there. I would have complained while I was there but I was so afraid that there would be retribution. The patients are so dependent on the care that the CNAs give. There was one cna, his name was Camillus. He was outstanding! Great attitude and he couldn't do enough for me. I have the feeling that he graduated nursing school up by now. The wound care team was outstanding. I had a very challenging sacral decubitus which lasted me for a year once I left fairmont. Thank God it's gone now. Brandon, the coordinator of the team was stellar. So kind. So competent. Again, the Rn's were exceptional. Just short-staffed. You have a long way to go to teach the CNAs kind and compassionate Care. I have been a registered nurse for 42 years and am well educated. I am an adult nurse practitioner as well as hold a PhD in higher education.

My mom is currently in rehab at Fairmont Care, and it's been a nightmare. She was there about six years ago for breaking the same ankle, but that was before COVID. I had daily access to her and was able to make visits after work. She was much younger then, so there was a difference in her health and in the facility, and she had a good outcome. Post COVID, it just decimated. 'm sure this is true in many rehab facilities and nursing homes. I have conversations every other day with the director of nursing, the director of dietary, the director of the facility, and with all of the people treating her. I'm not getting an appropriate update. For instance, she was admitted on April 15th at about five o'clock in the afternoon. I knew nothing what was going to happen that night. I figured the next day, on Friday, April 16th that the doctors would start to come in, as well as the physical therapy team. On Saturday afternoon, I got a call that she was in quarantine for two weeks. No one told me that. They may have told her, but she forgot it. I was not aware that she was automatically quarantined because she was transferred from a hospital setting. Coming from someone who has a healthcare background, I understand that. They owed it to her and to me to say, "OK, here's what we're doing. This is what we found. We will update you and by the way, she's in quarantine for two weeks." It's been a complete uphill battle. I've actually had to start documenting everything because you can't get a hold of them at night. They give you the charge nurse's phone that they carry around with them. You leave a message, and they have to call you back. I would never go back there. If I had any other better solution I would move her, but that's not really a possibility. Unfortunately right at the end of her first quarantine, she had her first doctor's appointment from orthopedics to X-ray to check how her ankle was doing. They could have taken her back into quarantine for two more weeks. She was supposed to be out of quarantine today so I could visit her, but you can only visit between 9:30 and 4:30. Now I'm fighting with them on what they are going to do to accommodate the ones who work during the day (like myself), but I can't get an answer from anybody.

To many basic needs issues!!! Every place will have issues but we had too many...everyday. One late night after mom was approved to walk to the bathroom with escort (not assistance) the CNA, after the help button was pressed for an hour, came in with attitude, said I don't have time for this, stripped off her bottoms and pull ups, stuff a bedpan under her, came back a half hour later, took out the bedpan, did not dress her bottom half and left. OMG. Basic hygiene is not a priority as in every other nursing home. On a scheduled day for a shower, we inquired first thing in the morning as a reminder. Then three other times. then at four pm we said tell us right now when. they said oh that person went home for the day. The next morning we started at 7am inquiring. Stating it is not scheduled, it was miss yesterday, we are not requesting we are stating it must be done. At 3pm mom said to the nurse, can I please, at least get my hair washed it's been a week. the nurse closed her computer, locked her drug cabinet(cart), took her to a big bathroom, did her hair and bathed her. it took less than 20 minutes. She was grateful! You don't even get water everyday like in EVERY other hospital and nursing home!!! These are just three examples of true testimonial. Mom has many. Each of mom's three kids who were there 24/7 each have dozens of stories. Of coarse there are many commendable people in each field and they fed us all well every day. Therapy staff is ALL excellent.

Fairmont Care Centre seems to be a fine community and the staff always tries to help everyone. They had OK grounds area and a dining area. They have activities for the residents, my sister likes to play Bingo almost every day, and there are also other things they do like coloring and stuff. The layout of the place is nice, and its also clean. The price is really expensive though.

My grandmother was moved here 4 days after her knee replacement surgery by the order of the Amazing Dr. Finn (Weiss Hospital) for physical therapy. I cannot say enough what a wonderful, attentive, professional therapy team. They kept me in the loop about her rehab, what the expectations are and even called me to attend meetings about her. I love that they are so proactive. The room is very modern, clean, large windows and the bathroom for her was perfect to get around. The staff is very friendly and attentive to her. She was so worried they would forget about her and have no care but she was so surprised and so was I.

Fairmont Care has Some of the best service around! My dad has been using Fairmont Care for their rehabilitation physical therapy services and it has been working wonders for his legs. They have a skilled staff there to help him work through a range of exercises to help him build his strength back up. The staff works with him and motivates him to finish his exercises. They also have a lot different machines to help you through different motions. Overall, we're extremely pleased with the attention and dedication from the Fairmont staff

The staff here was fantastic. They were super helpful with all the questions we had, they showed they had the knowledge to help and also the education to make the rehabilitation progress. The facility was clean and visibly looked looked like it was being kept up. The other community members here looked happy as well.

My friend has been in rehab at Fairmont Place. They do have a step down, and hopefully she will be able to stay there. However they do have a monitor on her wrist; I don’t think she would be able to get out anyway, and she really wants to go home. On the other hand she likes being there because there is always somebody walking the halls, and she says, “Hi,” as I have been told. She needs people around her, but we have to remember that she is in there for rehab, and most of the other people I see look like they will be there for a long time, but they are so well taken care of.
