Good Samaritan Society-Pohai Nani is beautifully landscaped and beautifully maintained. It's renovated regularly and repainted. They're taking care of the place well. It's incredibly beautiful to look at. It's cool and windy. We have nice people here. They are just casual. I have friends coming to join me from inside to eat our lunch. Lunch today has choices of several things. Also, we have an art studio, a theater, exercise classes nonstop, and a floor with a mirror for dance classes. We got it all.

I have acquaintances that are at Good Samaritan Society Pohai Nani, and so I just went with them as their guest over a year ago. Overall, it's a pretty good place. They were a casual place. They have facilities for everything, like for exercising, swimming, certain classes, and trips that you can go on the bus to wherever you need to go. Also, they have scheduled meal times. There were just a couple of things that I was not real fond of, but that's just me. One of them is that they have a dress code when going to meals. To me, it's a little much because I prefer a more casual approach to dining. It is just a minor thing. They have an area for people who become ill. It's almost like a hospital area, where they have nursing staff and doctors that come in. The problem is it's very limited and a lot of the people that are in there are Alzheimer's residents. It tends to fill up. If that's one of the things I would have been counting on, it would be something that was a problem for me. Their apartments were a comfortable size, assuming it's for a single person. They have actual little apartments, separate for a husband and wife. They'd be in their own little home. They have kitchen facilities and a separate bedroom. They're not just kind of a big open room with everything in it, and I liked that better. The staff was very nice and very helpful too. The people there were mostly local people. A lot of them were acquainted with each other because they're about the same age. It's a pretty friendly place overall. The dining area was very nice as well. The food was pretty standard, but it's very good food. However, they just have the same menu every week.

Good Samaritan Society Pohai Nani is absolutely beautiful and has beautiful grounds. They offer a wide range of care; we have a friend with dementia who is there. I have two friends in assisted living there, and the other one is in more of an apartment-type situation. We met and had lunch, and we visited the recreation area. The food was good; it was cafeteria style and adequate. They have a very nice craft-art room with a gallery -- which was beautifully done -- where they were displaying their work. The staff walked us through an area where they showed movies and brought in entertainment (before COVID). Neither of our friends there had any complaints, and I think they're quite happy there. The staff was very nice and very welcoming. We had lunch, met with several of the other residents, and it seemed like they all had a very tight bond with their friends. I was quite impressed with that. They had quite a lot of things for people to do, like excursions.

Good Samaritan Society - Pohai Nani was very nice. The people were friendly and the staff was friendly. The place was clean. There were no available apartments to see. The grounds were nice and very lush. It is in a suburb and on a hillside. It has a beautiful view of the Kaneohe Bay and of the mountains. My dad liked it the best. The staff was friendly. They provide laundry service for a fee or you could do it yourself. If you pass by the staff or the residents in the hallway, they smile at you and say hello.

Everything was perfect at Good Samaritan Society Pohai Nani. The view is to die for. I would love to be able to afford this place. The marketing director was wonderful. They have studios, one-bedrooms, and two-bedrooms. We saw a studio and a one-bedroom, but none of them were available. The rooms were small but OK. We tried the food, and it wasn't the best meal I ever had. Nevertheless, they had a lovely dining room, and the wait staff was very sweet.

Pohai Nani (Good Samaritan Society – Pohai Nani) is on a mountain, so you would have to drive up, let them off, drive down to the parking lot, and then take the stairs to get to the facility. It's an old but well-kept place, and you have a beautiful view of the bay. They have a thrift shop where people trade things, and of course an entertainment area where residents could go for entertainment. They have a big room for that. My mom likes the country atmosphere. The staff is very professional, friendly, and helpful. The parking lot is just not too user-friendly, but they do have golf carts to take the residents up to the area from the parking lot.

My first visit to a resident here was in 1968. I never thot to look at Kaneohe except as a pause during a round the island journey on my day off. My mom and dad came to reside there in 2003, after being on the mainland (N.M.) for 22 years. What a wonderful slice of Paradise this twin apartment and homesites, care homes, and hospice are. I have visited a dozen times in as many years from overseas, staying an average of ten days to visit the folks. All the staff, grounds, atmosphere, food, cleanliness, and in house services are excellent, and L O V E L Y. THERE IS NONE BETTER, I less you live I a Palace, which wouldn't be as Fun.

Food was excellent at Pohai Nani. It had good meals for somebody who has senseless occasions to eat. They have sugar-free meals and ones with low calories and low carbohydrates. People are simply interactive. They have two-bedroom apartments up on the 14th floor. The rooms were kind of small. They have a bed, television, refrigerator, and that’s about it. It’s rather expensive. But they have independent houses which are two bedrooms also. They have a recreation room and classes you can take there. Sanitation was excellent.

They were very professional at Pohai Nani. I enjoyed talking to the person there. They answered all my questions. They gave me a brochure and a website to look at, and they also gave me floor plans of various units.

My parents are on a waiting list for Pohai Nani. It’s in a section of Hawaii that has a gorgeous view and I thought it was a beautiful place. It looked like it was well maintained and well-staffed. They had a pool, a workout room and a multipurpose room. They also had a list of scheduled events from day to day. They had grounds for you to walk on and a good campus to take advantage of.

The staff at Pohai Nani are much more open and friendly than you'd typically see at a retirement/assisted living facility. My aunt used to stay at Ann Pearls, the usual unhelpful, borderline scary type of place that you wish you never end up at. Pohai Nani is opposite. They have regular pick-ups from the Handi-van, their own transport vehicles, activities all throughout each day to keep everyone engaged and moving, and even have a fitness center on site. My aunt was most impressed with their food, which she said was, "top notch". We went to the cafe with her, which is public as well, she orders from her account, and we paid cash. A lot of the food was your normal soft types, steamed veggies, chicken pot pies, but they even had specials everyday with different ethnic styles. We were there on Filipino cuisine day, I got the Pork Guisantes, totally yummy. There is a lot of room to move around there as well, depending on how much money you have, you can get an apartment room style, or a little house outside with more privacy, of course my aunt got the house, she's my favorite so needless to say, I loved it.

The retirement home, Pohainani, was a very nice facility located in a very nice facility. I thought that the staff there seemed very friendly and accommodating to the elder residents that lived there. The environment was very clean and welcoming, much like a resort or hotel. While I was only a part of recitals and visits like that, it was only one of the many activities provided by the facility that made it seem like a very nice place to live. If anything, I have heard that it costs a pretty good deal of money to stay there, but if one can afford it, it's definitely worth it for the care and service provided.

Upon arrival, I was impressed by the beauty of the facility, the location, and the well-maintained nature of the grounds. The staff were friendly and helpful (as I discovered when I got lost on my way to my grandmother's room), and I found my grandmother's accommodations to be both spacious and cozy. When asked about how she was enjoying the home, my normally critical grandmother had few complaints, although she did comment that she was getting tired of the food because of the lack of variety and that she didn't like waiting too long for help getting to the bathroom in the middle of the night. She very much enjoyed the recreational activities and weekly "shows" provided, however, and appeared to be more cheerful than usual. During my visit, I also made a note of how the nurses interacted with the elderly residents and concluded that they were both considerate and professional. Overall, I am quite pleased with this particular retirement facility.
